Wow, I wish all the "he's not so good" comments on here were from actual D-1 opponents. Jimmer takes advantage of anyone who underestimates him. D-1 coaches know not to take Jimmer for granted because he'll make you pay. But what can you do? BYU plays as a team.

Even on nights when it looks like you have stopped Jimmer, look up at the scoreboard, he's no doubt beating you in other ways. If Jimmer isn't scoring 28 on you, he's opening up other players and racking up assists. Plus his defense is better this year than ever before. BYU team defense as a whole is as good as any team in the country right now. BYU has a chance in any game this year and Jimmer's competitiveness is the biggest part of that. He just refuses to lose. Any of the naysayers would love to have him on their team at the end of the night or else they're too proud to admit it. Jimmer played most of the year last year in bad health and still put up better numbers than anyone in the MWC.

Love the Jimmer smack talk from the anti-BYU crowd. I'm sure that everyone who voted to make him a consensus pre-season all American, consensus pre-season MWC player of the year and put him on the watch lists for the Wooden Award, Naismith Award and just about every other watch list in NCAA hoops, don't know what they're talking about. They should have read the D. News message boards first, maybe then they would have gotten it right!

That is 1 game, look at Jimmer's stats against ranked teams! He has proven he deserves the attention. Few players at the Div I level have had 1 game like any of these 10 and this is just 10. How many times has he scored over 20? 30? 40? Jimmer is a Machine and is getting better at sizing up the other team and reading defenses to see what they will give him. If he can take a team he will!!!! Keep an eye on him, his best is yet to come and maybe at the NBA level, he is only 21! He also works harder than most Div I players so he will get better. In High School, his Junior year he was the #1 ranked wide receiver in NY, Jimmer is a rare athlete.

Remember that one time when Jimmer was in the Elite Eight... ummmm, nevermind.

Jimmer is a great college player. I still don't think he is going to be able to contribute at the NBA level though.

He is a defensive liability, seriously watch the guy on the defensive end of the court. The rest of the team is constantly having to cheat off their players to help him. I also doubt he will be able to create much of any open shots in the NBA, and doesn't pass well enough to be a point guard. He's a combo guard at heart and very few of them are very successful in the NBA.

Wow the vegas smak talk has already started. Notice how no one cares about anything vegas does even in our own local paper. I think the hoops stories are right behind the classifieds and ahead of the opinions.

So much venom from someone that lives in such a sunny place. And if RPI of 10 thinks that an RPI of 21 is weak, someone has a little problem with arrogance (in fact, if it weren't for your colors, I'd think you were a BYU fan).

As for the game in Vegas, you're probably right. BYU historically has had difficulties winning in Vegas, and the Rebs are great this year (another reason why it is sad that BYU is going independent). However, running your mouth over a month before a game that may not make that much of a difference in a conference loaded with talent and strength does seem a bit over the top.

    1. Why bring it up now - wait till the end of his career?
    2. Why uph0m3r looking in now when their game is till Jan 5, 2011?
    3. One game at a time when I can see one player at a time making progress like Davies and now Rogers.
    4. Once the mwc tournament is over - GOODBYE TMC, Craig Thompson, the mtn - comcast killers.
    5. Jimmer is fun to watch and he is finally getting other players involved as a team.
    6. Have fun Jimmer with your hometown big party splash but make sure you get a win at home.

Yep you are right 'Not So Fast'

Jimmer did NOTHING in the Florida game. It was all Loyd.

Seriously... did you even watch the game?

Jimmer had 37 including 2 3s in Double OT. Give me a break. I love the BYU haters who turn their hate on the players. Gotta love the Jimmer-haters.

oh... and UNLV fans.. seriously? I know the economy is still tough down there, but did the newspapers go out of business as well? Why are you on a BYU comment board. I guess you need to come out of hiding after yet ANOTHER terrible football season. Before you rip the 6-6 BYU football team, remember this... 4 of their loses were to Top 20 teams, with a combined record of 51-7. AFA and USU were completely healthy when the played. USU when healthy were OK. They only lost to OU by 7. UNLV on the other hand is one of the 10 worst D1 football programs in the country. It is like a bye in football

This guy really needs a top ten list? Man you guys at D news must really love overhyping things. Lets see him carry byu to the final four and then you could give him a top ten list.

haha, the only reason UNLV beat BYU twice last year was because UNLV gets homecourt advantage for every MWC tournament. Play the tournament at the Marriot and BYU would have beat UNLV twice.

One thing that is forgotten: BYU's win over Florida was largely due to a player, Loyd Jr., who wasn't Jimmer. He gets too much credit for that win.

    @ TheSpiker

Yeah, weak compared to UNLV - RPI of 10. I can make the same statement for UNLV "and wins over top 25 and top 50 RPI teams...as well."

Mark my words, come Jan 5th BYU will be running back to happy valley with its tail between its legs and a big L on its record.

I guess were the same high quality fans that BYU has. You know, the ones that posted the classy message on the jumbotron after the USU game. You must love Max Hall too.

HONESTLY, I attended the Creighton-BYU game to watch Jimmer's skills and I WAS NOT impressed. They did not need to double team him and the defender that shadowed him gave him all sorts of fits. The defender was MORE ATHLETIC and faster which when I've seen Jimmer play has been his achiles heal, Jimmer is NOT FAST. All in all, I think he finished with 13 points. Needless to say, if I was defending him, I would put a fast athletic guard on him and he is done. When BYU starts to play real teams we will have a tough time ahead of us because the other players on our team are spotty at best when it comes to scoring.

"Until conference play, their schedule this year is comparable to high school ladies 3A basketball."

What a surprise to hear from one of the brilliant minds at UNLV.

I guess you consider a RPI of 21 to be weak and wins over top 25 and top 50 RPI teams to be the weak as well.

This week alone we will play Vermont (6-1) RPI 40 and Arizona (7-1) ranked 26th by CBS Sport.

UNLV, on the other hand, hasn't played a RPI top 25 team yet.

Thanks for reminding us all of the high quality of fans UNLV has. Try reading the book "Smack Talk for Dummies" in preparation for your next attempt at being clever.

First off i am a U fan, and cant stand byu and their fans. But i do enjoy watching byu's basketball team because they're actually good and its cool to see kids i played against in high school playing at the next level. Byu (baketball) is deserving of the national ranking they have. Its not to early i mean jimmer is a senior and he has had plenty of huge games with more to come. Jimmer is easily one the best players in the entire counrty. He can shoot lights out, get to the basket and once there finish as good as anyone, also he is a leader. So as much as i hate to say is go byu (basketball only) and more over go Jimmer.

I enjoyed looking at these and remembering what awesome things Jimmer has done for BYU basketball so far, but I have just one question... isn't it a little early for this?

My fondest memory of little Jimmer was when the Rebels squashed the little cougars last seasontwice. BYU is overrated. Until conference play, their schedule this year is comparable to high school ladies 3A basketball. Go Rebels.
