I'm ashamed of Mitt. This is garbage. How can anything this woman alleges in her story be true, unless the store was empty except the two of them. Why would she enter a dressing room with the Donald? If there was a fight, how was there no noise, no wall banging, no trauma/drama, and no one told. Why did the story emerge exactly with the timing before re-election? Since the garbage stories of 2015/2016 didn't win the election for Hillary, is this more Dem business as usual before 2020? Few believed Anita Hill. Dems didn't believe Dem women about Bill. Is it surprising that Repubs don't believe stories about Kavanaugh and Trump? All investigations on these and many more events prove to be a waste of time.

Dem strategy is clear. Everything anti-Trump. No border crisis, no Iran threat, no North Korea threat, no China threat, no Russian threat, no economy improvement because of Trump, no jobs improvement, lower taxes kills jobs (when the opposite is proven to be true), and everything good that Trump does was Obama's greatness. I'd like to see the Dems show their value by making great things happen on the legislative front. Bipartisanship is gone in D.C.

Uh, what?! That is an extremely serious accusation to lob at conservatives. Citation please? Pardon me if, until I see proof, I consider that charge to be a leftist fabrication.

Fake hate crime accusations are just as serious as actual hate crimes. One should be extremely careful about spreading unsubstantiated rumors just because they comport with one's worldview.

There have been so many false allegations of rape over the last several years that I just cannot believe someone who relies only on ethos and pathos as burden of proof. I need to witness substantive and empirical evidence that a crime has happened before I'll act. This is just more lies and manipulations against their enemy that's not my problem.

All this from people in power who have brought success at bringing nothing positive for the disabled population and those who care for them! Their single focus on political accusations does not solve real social problems!

@RiDal writes: "You realize that Stormy Daniels even lost her court case and was forced to pay Trump $293K in court fees for her false allegations and defamation...right?"

Actually, RiDal, that's untrue. The judge never ruled that Stormy Daniels' allegations were false. Instead, he held that in the hurly-burly of political discourse, the First Amendment allowed Trump to make statements that were "hyperbolic" and untrue. Similarly, in a 1988 case, SCOTUS ruled that Hustler magazine had a First Amendment right to publish a parody ad alleging that Jerry Falwell had sex with his mother in an outhouse.

When it comes to legal cases, it's important to notice what the court really ruled, and not just how your favorite website chooses to spin the case.

Where? This is not a government investigation like either the Mueller probe or the Hillary investigation that took years under a Republican House. You need to get the source of the crime right to know which jurisdiction has authority.

Are you one of those Republicans who believe that it's OK to investigate Democrats for whatever cost and however long to get a conviction. Or are you only interested in protecting Donald Trump?

The only way Trump will ever clean his name from these accusations is for them to be fully investigated, and if he is innocent of these claims, he will have vindication.

I've been involved in these kind of cases before, and without a full investigation, no one is safe. I'v been involved in a case where accusations were made, and ultimately the legal process uncovered the falseness of the claims. I've been also involved in a case where the opposite was true, and it was the only way for the victim to have their claims believed.

Either way, doing a full investigation is the only way to the truth. Anything less leaves a stain on one of the other, or both. Trump supporters should demand a quick, thorough, investigation.

Where? Please give the reference so we can all read it. Maybe you are referring to Fox News, but where else could it have been discredited? Breitbart? InfoWars? Curious people want to k ow your source of information. We don't want to make false accusations, but we would like the truth. Did he or didn't he? There is so much history here. Adultery. Sexual assault. Promiscuity. Sleeping around with different women for years. "Locker room talk." How do we decide? You tell me.

It's not that you just don't like it. That doesn't work. But 21 other complaints lend credibility along with Donald Trump's history. There is a story in Howard Stern's new book about Trump and another caller on the show arguing about a woman they shared and who did better in bed. If you want to believe this, okay. It's what you hear on Fox News all the time. Donald Trump is great. Everything's great. You just keep believing. He's going to be happy that you support him in every way you can. He desperately needs all the support he can get.

Like he said, he's the only one who can fix things and Fox will always tells all that he's fixing. Why he's got Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Rush Limbaugh and every other fringe commentator telling us the same thing. He along brought us a booming economy. He's bringing us world peace. He is saving us from the immigrant menace. He's setting the moral standard for a new America. Who couldn't want more?

And remember, it's all Hillary's and Democrat's fault for all the bad that is happening today. Obama, as you've stated, made a mess and Trump is leading us into the light, making American what it was in its days of grandeur when a select group of white people had it pretty good and those not like them knew their place. It was a wonderful time when we could say "Merry Christmas" without being criticized and a man like Trump could get rich and famous.

Once again, Romney is 100% correct. If there is a rape allegation, it should be taken seriously. Will it be difficult to establish the validity of the allegation after 20 years? It does seem suspicious that these allegations are just now coming forward.

A full investigation will either show Trump actually did rape this woman, at which point he should go to jail, or it will show the woman is lying. If she is lying, there should be a penalty she faces--defamation lawsuit, criminal charges, etc.

  • California94131 SF, CA

Twenty years after whatever happened or allegedly happened, no one's version of this episode is going to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt to a moral certainty, the legal standard for convicting someone of a crime. So there isn't much point in having a criminal investigation.

The possible fly in that ointment would be the coat she says she still has. Could it be as incriminating as The Blue Dress? If he wants to help prove his innocence, he will have no problem providing a DNA sample. If she wants to help prove that he attacked her, she will have no problem getting it analyzed.

Without any physical evidence, I think most reasonable people would be willing to consider the preponderance of circumstantial evidence, a pattern of behavior where the alleged action in question is totally in character, and the existence of numerous accusers and accusations.

    Smoke --- fire.

You don't even hear this with the Fox News journalists who have a difficult time convincing the Fox viewship that there is a difference between the news division and the entertainment/opinion division.

Let's see the court records, open up the non-disclosure agreements, and we can finally see the extent of Donald Trump's activities. Have an investigation and see how much of a sexual predator he is. We know how he has cheated on three wives (Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal are only two that we know about) and how sexually active he was in his younger days working hard not to catch a venereal disease from all the women he said he had sex with.

If anything, his history of sexual activity (much of which he bragged about) only adds credibility to the charge. But despite this, Trump apologists and surrogates excuse his behavior to have him in office to give them what they want.

A joke, you say? Why do you think it a joke? Because she is not the type of woman that Donald Trump would choose to sexually assault and rape? And what type of woman is it considering what he said on the 'Access Hollywood' video where he talked about the need for some tic-tacs so he could grab and kiss the woman who came to greet hi?

Was Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal a joke when he had his affairs with them while his wife took care of their newborn son? How did you feel about his history of adultery that is well-documented in the tabloid press. And when he was avoiding getting STDs in the NY dating scene after avoiding service in Vietnam, did you think the guy was really chaste and celibate?

With all this, do you still think it inconceivable that Trump was incapable of assaulting 22 other women beyond those who never spoke out. This is a man who craved power over women and would seek them out to have sexual dominance to prove his own manhood. He was rich and famous. What woman would not want his advances? In his eyes, none.

I am so tired of all these accusations. If people would get behind President Trump instead of being against him, our borders would be secure, healthcare wouldn't be an issue, and more jobs would be in place. President Trump is doing a fantastic job and gets no support. Once someone says something about President Trump concerning these types of accusations, he is already guilty. He is never given a break. Apparently the Trump apologists are up in arms concerning the allegation of rape by E. Jane Carroll when they have already accepted the fact that Donald Trump has an unsavory history of sexual aggression that they would not tolerate by a member of their own family. There is something with Trump that they find acceptable despite his sordid past. So they make noise despite the actions of this man.

They know about payoffs to women and the non-disclosure agreements. They know about the 22 reported sexual assaults which they waved off as insignificant. They know about the 'Access Hollywood' video and Trump's penchant to sexually assault women because he is rich and famous and "can do anything [he] wants"

This is old news to them and they know that Ms Carroll is credible. As with Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal. Trump fought his Vietnam avoiding STDs. Nothing stops him because he feels entitled to do whatever he wants. Just listen to what he said on Howard Stern and in the NY tabloids. So why are they do adamant about Ms Carroll and this latest charge? They know he's no innocent. He said "she's not my type", meaning, there are women who are his type he would assault and rape?

I can't believe the denial that still exists among LDS Trump supporters. Carroll is the 22nd woman to accuse Trump of sexual misconduct, plus we have him on a hot mic (the Billy Bush tape) saying (in the crudest terms imaginable) that, because he is a celebrity, he is able to sexually assault women at will.

Donald Trump is morally corrupt to the tips of his fingers. In the words of Republican Bill Weld, he is "a one-man crime wave."

Sen. Romney has to walk a fine line when it comes to Trump. We know what he really thinks of him (that he is a "con man"), but yet he has to work inside a Republican Party that has sold its soul for Trump.

Yes, the similarities between Carroll's allegations (not to mention the "fantasies" she describes in various televised interviews) and an episode of Law and Order should be carefully evaluated.

Never forget the left's standard of (in)justice: "Where there's smoke, there's fire." In their minds, due process, including the requirement that evidence be authentic and reliable is injustice, and all that's needed is an allegation, no matter how far-fetched. These people must never again be given power in the USA.

  • Vanceone Provo, UT

I've evaluated it. The accuser claims that most people think rape is sexy. The entire story is identical to the plot line of Season 13, Episode 11 (#283 overall), called "Theater Tricks" with guest star Kevin Pollak of Law and Order, SVU. Aired January 11, 2012.

Down to the actual alleged high end department store, the story put forth by this woman is identical to that episode.

Plus, this accuser has openly had a meltdown on air, and in short: Romney, you are a loon. I must ask, though, whether we should have a full investigation of your binders of women and dogs on car roofs. After all, those are serious allegations that must be fully evaluated. Right?
