A free press? I support a free press. But we don't have one, do we? We have the Democrats Propaganda arm that claims to be a free press. Today's press is nowhere near what they claim: impartial seekers of truth that seek to tear down the unrighteous in power. If they were, they would attack Democrats daily. Instead, they defend the left, the powerful elites, the criminals in office. Today's "Press" is interested in covering the stories.... with a pillow, until they stop moving.

So don't give me anything about Donald Trump's attacks on "the press." There isn't a press to attack. Just credentialed far left fascists out to destroy America. If we had a press, I would be worried. But we don't. They sold their soul, if they ever had one, to the leftists long ago.

RE: "This became Melania's county after she came here illegally"...
    ---
Been listening to MSNBC I see.

Doesn't matter what country Melania came from, as long as she immigrated legally... does it?

I googled it. She didn't immigrated "illegally". But you saying it makes it so... right?

    Google "Melania Trump - Wikipedia"...
    Turn off MSNBC

    ===

RE: "Melania came from a communist blocked country. Indoctrination begins at a very early age in those countries"...
    ---
    Try again.

Vilifying people based on country of origin is uncool.

    ===

RE: "How is it she has not be questioned about her loyalties to the United States"...
    ---
    Wait... You just did. Above.

But notice it's the radical-Left, not radical-right questioning people's loyalties based solely on them being an immigrant (a LEGAL immigrant).

Thought the Assumption was the radical-right are anti-immigrant. But clearly that stereotype doesn't work. Because it's the left in this case.

Should we start automatically using that stereotype for you guys all the time, like you do to others?

    ===

Melania should not be vilified just because she's an immigrant. Nobody should.

RE: "Easy job as long as she does not fact check"...
    ---
Her job is not to fact check the President. Her job as White House Press Sec is to repeat the President's message to the Press.

Figure out what the White House Press Sec's job is people.

It was the same job when Obama was President. The WH Press Sec's job was not to fact check Obama. Their job was to take his message to the Press.

    Note:
Pres Obama's biggest regret as President was his administration's inability to communicate his message to the American people. He said after Libya his biggest regret after leaving the office was his inability to get his message to the American people (that's the job of the Press, and the WH Press Sec). To communicate to the American people.

It's not the WH Press Sec's job to fact check the President. It's their job to say what the President tells them to say to the Press.

I didn't know there was so much anti immigrant bigotry in your heart. Do you feel the same way about Bernie and his deep devotion to a communist country.
But then so everyone knows how is it Melanie came here illegally?

And what have you supported in stopping the illegals coming across the southern border. Oh wait how can we allow a woman that speaks five languages come into the country?

I wish the DN moderators would require more than unsubstantiated, lies as comments

She hasn't even had her first press conference. Give her a chance Democrats!

At least wait till she's said something before you crawl all over her and try to dismiss her.

    ===

RE: "Simply parrot the daily disembling that comes forth from the trump maladministration"...
    ---
    Isn't that her job?

Isn't the White House Press Secretary's job to parrot what the President is saying... to the Press?

Is she supposed to make up her own message (different than the President's message)? And present THAT to the Press?

That seems like a silly expectation even for Democrats. Of course the President's Press Sec is going to parrot his message. That's expected. Isn't it?

    That's her job.

And it was the job of every other White House Press Sec... to speak the President's message and agenda, not to make up their own.

I have a suspicion that Stephanie Grisham was selected because she knows what she is getting into and has the fortitude to be just a strong as Sarah Sanders in standing up to the Fake News media. Good Luck, Stephanie! America is behind you!

Another trump sycophant destined for the trumpublican HOI (Hall of Infamy).

Once huckabee-sanders proved she was there to simply parrot the daily disembling that comes forth from the trump maladministration her credibility ended.

One wonders how long it will take before grisham obtains the same fate.

"As predicted, the leftists cannot give her a fair chance without innuendo and accusations of lies already."

Interesting that you are doing the same thing here, blaming the "left", even before they do the duty that is theirs to keep this White House accountable.

Contrary to Trump and his supporters a free press is the backbone of this country. It is the free press that took Nixon and Watergate scandel down.

It is a free press that Sarah H. lied to at every chance and they fought back against those falsehoods and the thousands of lies that Trump spews out.

You may not like it, but a free press will take this new "spokesperson" to task for any, and all lies, falsehoods, and misstatements. It is what keeps people honest.

You claim it is leftists? No Vanceone, and BYU Alum, the lies and dishonesty of this admistration will continue to be brought to light by a free press. No amount of twisting or deflection will change this. Honest, and educated people no longer believe this man, or the supporters who do.

This new spokesperson will not be allowed to lie to the press without a retaliation and facts.

You know what though? I think the "daily" briefings was a little too much and overkill. Bring it back as the "weekly" briefing to make it more manageable and non-stagnant.

“Once we lose access, we’ll never get it back,” the Associated Press’s chief White House photographer, Charles Dharapak, warned colleagues during a 2014 Newspaper Association of America conference. "

"And the Poynter Institute’s Kenny Irby said Obama’s chief photographer Pete Souza was more of a propagandist than a real photojournalist because his job was to make Obama “look good, make the president look presidential.”

And Souza enjoyed access to the president, mainstream photojournalists didn’t have until Trump took office. "

From the white house press themselves.

But keep making up the propaganda.

  • jsf Centerville, UT

CC is that why Obama hid out, why Hillary hid out, and why Biden is hiding out?

"Compared to former President Obama, Trump is better at giving news conferences and reaching out to individual reporters, the Times’ Glenn Thrush said.

“I think one of the things that I think he’s doing better than Barack Obama are these press conferences and his outreach to individual reporters, even for organizations, like my own, that he criticizes.”

“…When Obama had press conferences, he had a single piece of white paper and he had six or seven organizations that he had preselected to call upon, and a lot of them were pretty favorable to him, too.”

Thrust added that Trump was more “democratic” in comparison by taking questions from a variety of reporters without pre-selecting them, including those from outlets who routinely attack him.

As reported in 2014, journalists routinely criticized the Obama administration for what they characterized as the worst press access they’ve experiences in decades.

Sanders was no babe in the woods. She knew what she was getting herself into when she took the job. So did Trump when he decided to run for President. Press scrutiny goes with the turf. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

First of all, I thought Sarah Sanders was absolutely great. The outspoken and rude leftist reporters tried to continually bully her and talk over her. She would have NONE of it. I thought she was terrific. The leftist media and politicians are the ones who peddle the lies and conspiracy theories. It's refreshing to see the Trump administration and the ones who represent them (press secretary) push back against this abuse.

We as Republicans have in the past had those in the spotlight roll over and played dead when anyone pushed against them for anything. No so with President Donald Trump! I like his boldness and "don't mess with me" attitude. It is absolutely refreshing!

I hope Stephanie is simply herself, a strong woman who is highly intelligent and not willing to let those in the press "rule the day" on any type of briefings. I can't wait to see and hear her in action! Congratulations on this incredible promotion!

    Trump/Pence 2020!!

"Of course, the left flings around accusations of lies all the time, but never can come up with specifics.... just like they have zero specifics in the "Trump colluded!" charges. "

    ===

But those of us who have actually READ the Mueller Report have plenty of specifics on trump's actions. As Mueller said in the report, even though was plenty of evidence of Russian interference in the election, they simply had not been able to find any DIRECT links between trump, his campaign, and Russia. But anyone who actually reads the report can clearly see that the hands of many of trump's good friends were far from being completely clean.

Sort of like the garbage truck that recently returned from the dump, but hasn't been washed out yet. The smell of the garbage lingers, but you can't tell exactly what was in there that caused the stench.

As for the other trumpian lies, how about responding to just one of them -- which was repeated several times in the presence of other world leaders : "My father was born in Germany."

What say ye about that, Vance? Do you really believe we can trust a man who can't even tell the truth about something as basic as that?

    Vanceone,

First of all, I didn't see anything from leftists trying to condemn republican appointees. Are you one of those who think the leftists are responsible for everything you don't like? Does that mean that you think the right can do nothing wrong?

Second, when are you and other rightists going to accept the fact that Hilary lost and Trump has been president for 3 1/2 years. Surely you can't really believe everything the rightists do wrong is her fault. Or Obama's.

For those who think everything is black and white, please open your eyes and see that sometimes there are other sides that can never even get a word in edgewise.

Here's how things typically went down with Sarah Sanders:

Reporter: "What are your thoughts on the president saying ?"
Sanders: "The president didn't say that."
    Reporter: "Yes he did."
Sanders: "The president didn't say that."

My advice to the new spokeswoman: Avoid doing this.

The first lady announced the news on Twitter, saying she "can think of no better person to serve the Administration & our country."

This became Melania's county after she came here illegally. She then chain migrated her parents after Trump became President.

Melania came from a communist blocked country. Indoctrination begins at a very early age in those countries.

How is it she has not be questioned about her loyalties to the United States?

It is amazing how Trump is the liar and colludes, but precious Hillary, who Ukraine admits collusion with to attempt to sway the election, and the dossier, provided by a foreigner based off of information from Russia and used to attempt to take down a President, is a-ok. Leftists have zero problems with treason as long as they are committing it.

Stephanie, adopt a policy of being truthful from the beginning and you will avoid all of the problems Sanders had before you.

Her lies, lies about lies, prevarications about the lies about lies, denials, and misdirections were her total undoing.

There was nothing misogynistic about it. Previous press secretaries have been, generally, truthful and forthcoming about events and news from the White House. They may have had an adversarial relationship with some of the press, but it was not openly hostile.

Sanders, and Spicer before her, on the other hand, told so many lies and conflicting stories that the press gave up trying to get truth because it wasn’t there.

But I suspect you already know this, because of your previous position. Truth wasn’t a regular commodity from Melania, either.

I’d still like to know about her immigration status - how she worked without a green card, how she qualified for a “genious visa,” how she got her family over here.

It will be interesting to see she actually holds regular press briefings unlike her predecessor who gave up. Trump does his own briefings--not in person but by tweet or by a wave and response on the white house lawn.
