Never, never forget how the media propped this guy up. They ran with it without the smallest amount of skepticism because they the narrative fit their agenda. In a normal, non-political-agenda driven-world, news outlets would have been highly suspicious of a story like this.

We now have a long list of these news frauds. But how many hoaxes do they shill to the public that are never exposed? Now they are propping up a woman who is accusing Trump of rape with absolutely nothing to substantiate the claim. We are exposing the most obvious ones, but how much less obvious fake news is not being exposed?

Smollet's intent reveals a deeply sick culture within the movie industry and among the Left. Truth doesn't matter. Instead, victimhood is the key component for rising the ladder to success.

With Smollet, we saw Democratic leaders rally to his side. Even after his hoax was revealed, there were Democratic leaders who said that although Smollet's case was a hoax, the narrative is still true and thus America needs to be punished and change.

    What?

    The Left is so wrong.

Another case where Instant-Certainty actually lead many in the wrong direction initially. Then left them scrambling to distance themselves from it once the truth was finally revealed.

That's why it's always good to wait until the investigation is Done... not jump on the bandwagon early on. It's always good to wait till the facts are in. The initial story turned out to Not be "Facts" in this case.

I think it is pathetic how liberals, like Lou, want to distance themselves from the hate-filled lies that Smollett made. Now, to the left, including LOU and much of the MSM, Smollett is viewed as nothing other than "a prankster". They were all too happy to denigrate MAGA supporters, straight people, and white men when the claims were made by him. As soon as the claims by Smollett were shown to be bald-faced lies, they quickly backed away. . .

This is far more than 16 counts of filing a false police report. It was a calculated effort to deceive others for personal gain.

From mailing himself a threat letter with mysterious powder, to the attack, and the ensuing denials of guilt; all cast a fraudulent claim on Chicago, the police and city leaders.

All of that could have been explored at trial, and Smollett seemed eager to have his day in court...with cameras running. Foxx short-circuited that process quietly and quickly. THAT may be the bigger sin here. What was she thinking?

Personally, I think it was a pre-election ploy intended to help Preckwinkcle get elected. The reaction was anything but a help to Preckwinkle. There was no sigh of relief for Jussie's sake.

Faked hate crimes are not "pranks," any more than actual hate crimes are "pranks." Faked hate crimes ARE hate crimes and need to be prosecuted accordingly if the concept of a hate crime has any meaning at all. (And yes, I recognize the irony in that statement, as hate crimes are merely a means of effectuating the leftists' dream of selective prosecution at will.)

As the censors won't allow my prior comment, I will just say to LOU that the waste of time and money was Chicago law enforcement spending huge tax dollars investigating this alleged hate crime against Smollett. Justice has not yet been served at all and won't be until Smollett and his 'owned' DA are in jail.

    @LOU
He's more than an innocent prankster who just wanted to have some fun with an innocent prank.

He wanted to inspire outrage. He wanted a war. Do you think BLM-Activists and LGBTQ-activist groups wouldn't have organized hate-filled protests and rallies if he was successful?

He would have been a Hero. A celebrity. Maybe even hatch a new career as a Civil Rights Activist. The Gay Rodney King of his day... A Hero. A Symbol people would bring out at rallies for the rest of his life.

He wanted to inspire fear and loathing in the black community (fear and loathing the MAGA person he created out of his stereotypes for their "Type").

He wanted to inspire fear and loathing in the gay community (fear of stereotype-bassed MAGA people he created based on what he was taught MAGA people are like).

MSNBC and ANTIFA have done such a great job of selling this Stereotype and dividing us. Now people trust their stereotypes implicit? Remember the instant-certainty some had before we knew it was a hoax? We judge people by their "Type" instead of by their individual character? Even judge based on a false-narrative, created by somebody who wanted to become a celebrity activist?

This guy is despicable IMO. And not because of his race, or his gay lifestyle.

Despicable because he has the lack of character and diabolical nature that would allow him to hatch this plan and carry it out. And then deny it (when everybody knows what he did).

Despicable because he would use his race and his gay status to carry out a hoax that he Knew would get National attention, and if successful would have divided us and cause hate and contention between Americans for years and years to come. He wanted that hate. He wanted that fear. He wanted that contention. He wanted the attention it would bring him.

    That's the opposite of noble.

If police didn't have had the high-tech tools they have today and so much video evidence and electronic evidence of financial transactions etc... he probably would have gotten away with this a few years ago.

And if he had gotten away with it... what would have resulted? Hate and anger at the MAGA person he created (who never existed. only as a Stereotype in his mind).

Some will justify what he did, because he meant well, the narrative fit, and he's been so mistreated his whole life (a rich Hollywood star).

    Lucky he was caught

What a waste of time and money.

Smollett is a small time prankster who tried to short cut his way into a big money carrier.

    He failed miserably!
