    Vanceone -

“Tell us straight up whether illegal aliens, convicted of violent crimes such as rape or murder, should be deported when they are let out of prison early, or should they be released into the general population and their whereabouts actively concealed and hidden from our immigration authorities.”

Gladly! Again. Twisting facts in order to support an already tremendously weak narrative. Of course ANY violent criminal should be immediately deported. They also shouldn’t be released early. Furthermore. Tell “us” your firsthand experience dealing with violent criminals? Firsthand experience with legal proceedings?

“Because that is what is happening in Washington State, and what Mayor Biskupski is now doing.”

Not happening in Washington State, and not what Mayor B is doing in any way whatsoever. Furthermore. Parroting the Supreme Leader’s anti-immigrant propaganda doesn’t strengthen your argument in the least. How about lawyers and systems in place to assist fellow man attempting to escape dangerously horrific conditions? Regardless of empty rhetoric, “leftists” do not support open borders as the extremist Alt-Right often portrays. You’re welcome.

Doesn't matter whether Biskupski cooperates with ICE or not Their a Federal Agency and can sweep SLC without Biskupski permission. Fed's dont have jurisdictions and can get Unified, Sheriffs or any agency to assist them in Inter-cooperative agency raid.

Also their are a number of SLC officers who dont give a crap what Biskupski says they'll still assist just wearing a ICE vest and mask.

Ok, Lib on planet Zion: Tell us straight up whether illegal aliens, convicted of violent crimes such as rape or murder, should be deported when they are let out of prison early, or should they be released into the general population and their whereabouts actively concealed and hidden from our immigration authorities.

Because that is what is happening in Washington State, and what Mayor Biskupski is now doing. Do you support letting violent criminals go to repeat and hurt more Americans? Because so far, that is exactly what you appear to support. Along with the Mayor and many, many other Democrats. Do you prefer that Americans be put at risk in order to prevent the deportation of violent criminals who have already been convicted and sentenced for their violent crimes? The mayor does. Do you?

“But for people like Mayor Biskupski and "Liberal on Planet Zion", raped and murdered American citizens is always preferable to deporting criminal illegal aliens.”

Life remains blissfully ignorant within the confines of the Utah County Bubble. When one has absolutely nothing intellectual whatsoever to add with the existing dialogue they often resort to scare tactics and citing propaganda as factual information. “Like people such as Vanceone.” If these deplorable zealots only spent as much time searching out legitimate sources of news as they do attempting to defend the clearly indefensible. You’re welcome.

“After all, criminals always, but always, vote for Democrats because Democrats love criminals (most Democrat politicians are criminals, so naturally they favor them).”

Deep yawn. Wait until the Supreme Leader is facing impeachment proceedings and eventual criminal charges. He’s been a criminal his entire life, and those aware of his behavior are most certainly aware of this fact. At this time you may continue posting continued, “Yeah, but Obama/HRC” nauseating deflection/distractions. You’re welcome yet again comrade.

ICE this week released a list of criminals from the last two years that liberals in Washington proudly let go, which criminals then proceeded to resume their criminal ways and harm Americans. Crimes that ICE could have prevented had the leftists there actually cooperated.

But for people like Mayor Biskupski and "Liberal on Planet Zion", raped and murdered American citizens is always preferable to deporting criminal illegal aliens.

After all, criminals always, but always, vote for Democrats because Democrats love criminals (most Democrat politicians are criminals, so naturally they favor them).

ICE mainly goes after illegal immigrants with criminal records - so that's who she's protecting and while this stance seems to be in-vogue because it's defiant of trump - it's also void of logic and illegal to be doing.

Scary that people are so committed to defying an elected leader that they put our communities at risk.

She was elected to serve the voting citizens. Illegal aliens would be, by definition, not among them.

"If the SLC police were to act like ICE agents they would lose the trust of the entire Latino community ...."

In America cities are creatures of the State. In this case SLC is chartered by Utah. I call on the legislature and the governor to prohibit and invalidate the action of the mayor. Forbid the mayor from prohibiting police cooperation and require all county sheriff and city police departments to cooperate with federal law enforcement. Write your state reps and state senators and demand that they pass this legislation.

Does this act of defiance by the current SLC mayor surprise anyone here? Ours is a nation whose freedoms are sustained by adherence to law and order. As I’ve stated in previous posts, lawlessness creates anarchy. We can no longer turn a blind eye to the sieve that is flooding through our southern border. We can no longer give financial support those who enter our country illegally, expecting our own citizens to “pick up the tab.” We can no longer tolerate the practice of elected officials who pick and choose which federal laws they will adhere to and which they will ignore. And finally, we can no longer allow “even the very appearance” of a sanctuary city in our great State of Utah! Enough is enough!!

This behaviour is "obstruction" as previously stated in an earlier post! The mayor is not 'judge & jury' over these illegal immigrants or ICE....she is not privileged to information regarding any of the illegals...she has no details on their background, history, etc,....that is not her job...that is ICE's job!! Do your own job Biskupski and support ICE doing theirs!!

  • logical Meridian, ID

I think the current administration has deported less than the prior one.
The Washington post reported that 256,000 were deported in 2018 a 13% increase over 2017, compared with 409,849 in 2012, the high mark. Who was president in 2012??

The number of illegals and asylum seekers has risen dramatically since the Democrats began fighting this politically motivated war with Trump's policies. They are not about our nations safety and sovereignty, but about politics and trying to make sure Trump is not successful in anything. They along with the never Trumpers are not fighting for our country but for their personal dislike of Trump. I am not a fan of Trump, but this battle is sure making me wish we had more elected officials who support his policies. Throw the bums out!!

Thanks for what... breaking the federal Aiding and Abetting Illegal Immigrants laws (8USC 1324)?

    @EmmanuelGoldstein1984:
"By the way, Mayor B is not breaking the law, as so many here claim."

Aiding and Abetting illegals is breaking federal law. The mayors of sanctuary cities and governors of sanctuary states should be held to account.

    @viejogeezer:
"Can someone tell me just what law she is violating?"

    8 USC 1324

"As I understand it SLPD has no mandate or authorization to enforce federal law."

It's not about law enforcement. It's about violating a federal law. Think of it as exceeding a posted speed limit.

    @RedShirt_CollegeofHardknocks:
"So, will all those calling for the Mayor's head please point to Utah and or Salt Lake City law that puts federal immigration enforcement in their jurisdiction?"

Borders, where did that (now becoming strange) concept originate? It's bibical and bibical history is mirroring itself again. Unless of course there is no belief in the bible and the God of the Bible. Then its all relative to the individual feelings, and where the feelings that a major hold wins....hmm its all relative!

Laws.....well they seem to be a novel concept too! Started out as bibical, and the Constitution was created with those laws as a blueprint.

With all the moral relativity, the progressive, liberal leftits, Democrat socialists, democrats and community organized groups, seem to use laws when they conveniently fit a want, need or narrative.

Time for Americans to step back out of the fray of the political world and look at America from the perspective of what future do you want your kids and grandkids to have! Up to this point life has been pretty good in America and that is why the people of the world, who live under tyrant dictators, want to come here for those same freedoms. But if all the laws are thrown out the window, America will soon be ruled by the same socialists. The immigrants won't know the difference.........but our posterity will!

Some are comparing the Ellis Island immigrants with those coming illegally across our southern border (or from anywhere). It's a stretch to do so.

Ellis Island processed people who were immigrating to assimilate into American life. They presented at Ellis Island legally and were detained until they could be processed. It was not a disregard for the laws of the USA. My Swiss-German gr gr grandfather spoke seven languages but he would not allow his children to speak anything but English. They were AMERICANS now.

Those who are here illegally and have been told to leave have shown contempt for our country. When we "call" them on it, they become indignant, as do those who support them. Millions of them don't speak English and haven't even tried. Their grandchildren interpret for them. They fly the Mexican flag and expect us all to embrace their customs, holidays, food, etc.

Something is wrong with this picture.

Regarding picking and choosing which laws you will obey, we can all take a page from Martin Luther King:
When it was illegal for black people in the South to eat at lunch counters or use segregated bathrooms or read a book in a library, Dr King went forward and broke the law, knowing he would be arrested, but hoping that the arrest would be seen as unjust and would lead to the regulation requiring his arrest being overturned.
If anyone...a politician or average citizen... believes a law is unjust, break it.
But be willing to pay the price, even sacrificing your freedom, and hope that your arrest or incarceration will lead to a regulation you consider unjust being overturned.
That's really the American Way, isn't it?

As a constitutional scholar , you should know that Federal law covers the country. It supersedes local laws, ordinances. Look at weed, Federal law covers it for the county. Look at any part of the constitution and those "Federal" laws cover the country. Biskupski doesn't have to make the SLCPD round up illegals but illegals are still subject to Federal laws. The article states that ICE will be following up with those who have already met in our courts, with valid reasons (committed serious crimes) and have orders to be deported. There is a big difference between criminals, who are supposed to be deported, and are on the run from our ICE teams vs a family who is trying to make it here. Our Country is founded on those who migrated here, but criminals need to leave, as it would be in any other country around the world. The US just seems to tolerate it alot better. If the shoe were on the other foot, these criminals would definitely not be getting this kind of treatment.
On another note, there are those who come here from many countries and work so hard to come here legally. It is a long process for them. It isn't fair to all those who come here legally, to see so many who come illegally, and expect to be taken care of. There needs to be some way to do this better, or else, why even have a border at all?

I find it so hard to understand how this in any way benefits Utah's. Some say the cost is too high and SLC doesn't have the budget to support ICE. Have those that say this read about what's going in the Utah County Jail. Over a million dollars has been spent on an inmate's medical bills who is an illegal alien. Sheriff's haven't gotten a raise in years as well as hard working other county employees, including teachers. How many legal citizens, including infants that are struggling with medical bills, food etc could have been benefited by this Million plus dollars. The medical bills don't even consider how much it's costing to have him and so many others in or jails.
We have far to many legal citizens that need help and pay their taxes that need this money that is being wasted on an illegal immigrants who ares in jail for breaking the law.

So now instead of ICE spending their time rounding up the violent criminal illegals from the local jails, thanks to local leaders like Jackie, they're going to do more field raids which will net more non-violent illegals for deportation. And that's not speculation that comes directly from ICE.

Jackie, our country is a country of laws of which I am sure you as Mayor of the great city of Salt Lake must recognize. You have no authority to demand that Law enforcement disregard their sworn oath to serve and protect the law abiding "U.S. Citizens" of the city you have been given the opportunity to manage. You are not a Queen. You have no authority to just pick and choose which laws Jackie says Salt Lake City will follow and which ones it won't. You were elected by U.S. Citizens to manage Salt Lake City in accordance with the laws of Utah and the United States of America. Not to mandate anything to anyone. # ITrustNoPutts ...Hellow

Another example of the double standard of Democrats and liberals. They profess "no one is above the law" yet they do not care to check out the facts about Hillary Clinton and the FBI heads who set themselves above the law.

They have a pick and choose standard of law and enforcement. If it helps them get or maintain power then they pursue it, whether it means enforcing or breaking the law.

And with no rational reasons to back up their stances, they resort to labels. They distort the facts and call evil good and good evil.

The liberal news media is in bed with them as well, including one here that I cannot mention or I will be censored for sure.

One can spin it, rationalize it, make excuses for it all they want.

But at the end of the day noone in america is against immigrants, or immigration for a more general term. The key word is illegal, if you are a foriegner here legally america accepts you with open arms, noone wants to throw out immigrants who are here thru legal process.

But if you crossed our border illegally your are breaking the law, and now we have a SLC mayor that condones it, an elected official who took an oath to uphold our laws is brazenly defying the law she vowed to enforce.

Biskuspi's actions are not just a dereliction of duty but a bold faced cold decision to break the law, officials that take this stance claiming they are doing the morally right thing, but say that to all of citizens in california who have been exposed to typhoid, measles, mumps and plague because of the foriegners entering this country unfettered with their diseases unchecked.

This is a political ploy by the left to garner votes since the democrats do not require i.d. in order to cast a ballot in most states, they dont care about these people they just want their votes, yet the cost burden it creates is paid for by us.

So how many more people can this country allow to enter this country without causing even more problems addressed above and more police and jails and prisons for those that were never screened before walking into the US? Unfortunately there are many people entering into the US only to access benefits that should be reserved for American citizens including the never ending increase in the Homeless population.

I hope that every citizen in Utah reads this article. It demonstrates how out of touch the Mayor of Salt Lake is with the rest of the state. This is not San Francisco or Portland, but she is trying to make it be like a liberal sanctuary city. If she does not cooperate does not cooperate with ICE, then the rest of the citizens should and report those who have violated our laws. These are those who have had hearings in front of a judge and deemed not to have merit regarding a request for asylum. Criminal aliens should also be reported to ICE and deported. We have plenty of them here in Utah. The idea of Salt Lake City should be a safe haven for those who broke our immigration laws is totally bogus. These sanctuary cities in which the Mayor of Salt Lake is trying to emulate are not sanctuaries at all, they have become fugitive cities.

The Left on Immigration (defiance of federal law) mirrors the ante-bellum South in its defiance of the electoral results of 1860. In 1860 the nation elected a president who hoped to put slavery in "the course of ultimate extinction". The South sought to nullify that election by seceeding. The Far left embraces the exact the same premise as the ante-bellum South in their refusal to abide the enforcment of federal immigration law by the federal government. A nation is not sovereign if it cannot enforce its borders. Does the Left really want hundreds of millions of new citizens in this country---most of them impoverished, illiterate and unable to support themselves without resort to welfare? Is that really what the Left wants? Apparently so, which means, quite simply, they want the destruction of the United States of America as the ultimate manifestation, in a nation-state, of the progress of the enlightement. The Left wants to destroy everything the enlightenment brought to mankind and with that destruction, they necessarily want to bring misery and tryanny to this nation and to the world on an unprecedented scale.

Every single commenter on this article is breaking some law somewhere. You’d be surprised at the LAWS! You who cry “treason” don’t understand the term.

Let’s not quibble on the scope and scale of which laws you are breaking and which ones Biskupski is breaking. Everyone rationalizes to justify their actions.

Laws made by man can be changed by man.

The immigration laws used to be: as long as one was not insane, a criminal, or had a communicable disease they were welcome to the USA! Remember. . . “Give me your tired . . . the wretched refuse of your teeming shore?”

Don’t forget that our country was (I’d love to say “is”) based on the fact that “all men are created equal” (read: ALL) and “that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people (Biskupski representing “the people”) to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government (or laws).”

Many laws are changed through civil disobedience. Biskupski seems both civil enough and disobedient enough to qualify. If she were running for mayor again and those she governed did not like what she was doing, the solution would be the ballot box.

If the city willfully encourages breaking of federal laws there is no moral reason for anyone to obey any SLC ordinances as the rule of law has been nullified by the Mayor.

The planned ICE deportations are aimed at illegal (repeat illegal) immigrants who claimed asylum, had their day in court and were ordered to be deported.

This is way beyond disregarding the law and being a "sanctuary city," and is now criminal activity as an accomplice to criminal acts.

I don't get it. Why are people all across the country supporting illegals Hispanics to the exclusion of everyone else?

In May 133,000 illegals were caught crossing our southern border. If that kept up that would be 1,596,000 people a year. If more succeed in coming here illegally, that would encourage more to do the same.

There are about 55,000,000 people in Mexico, Central America and South America that would like to come here.

When do we stop this open door policy for Hispanics?

We do not need, nor can we afford to have that many illiterate, unskilled and non-English speaking "refugees" come here.

20% of our country is functionally illiterate and unskilled. They are low wage earners that will be threatened by more people of the same quality.

Won't someone think of those people with the same consideration they extend to non-citizens that will displace them?

How will these people support themselves? Cutting food stamps, health care, and education are all being cut by Republicans. These people will need all of that, plus some. Otherwise their supporters will how that they are being mistreated.
