    @xert

    Thank you for your response and insights. I would like to quote a reply from someone who actually lives in Canada who responded to a similar question I posed on another thread.

    "There is NO equivalent to CCP (concealed carry). IF you have a restricted gun permit you have to 1) keep it locked, 2) register the route you take to the approved range to shoot it, and you better not be caught outside that route, no way no how can you "carry" legally of course. The restrictions here in Canada are way worse than you can imagine, unless of course you are a criminal. You don't own hand guns here."

    I guess 'reasonable' is one of those subjective terms. While I don't dispute your statistics on gun deaths in the US vs Canada, I still wonder about the actual cause and effect of gun control laws on that statistic. Canada just has a totally different demographic than the US which unquestionably has more crime. If you were to factor out shooting deaths caused by criminals (who will always be able to get guns if they want) as opposed to deaths caused by accidental shootings by law abiding citizens, how would the statistic compare then, I wonder.

    @ Be Practical who asks---
    Doesn't Canada have some of the strictest gun control laws in the world?

    No--Canada doesn't have some of the strictest gun control laws in the world. Just very reasonable ones. They do, however--lose 2.5 persons per hundred thousand a year to gun violence, while in the US--where the NRA has DC in their pockets--we lose more like 12.5 per hundred thousand.

    Question answered? You're welcome.
