Another player from the Utah County college who is leaving the program. Since fans from this college delight when other schools in the state of Utah have athlete's who choose to transfer, here is a little taste of your own medicine. It happens, get use to it, is the sky falling?

Li is fortunate the BYU Coach is willing to let him out of his promise. Of course he may want to look at what Chris Burgess did in heading to Duke, then sitting on the bench, and ending up overseas instead of in the Pros. BYU offers a great fan base, tradition, and education that few schools can match, overall. Li may regret the decision. Hopefully, if there are great prospects in China, Jimmer can use his influence to bring them to Provo.

What matters to me is not where he is going to play, but whether or not he can find success. Work hard, get an education and enjoy the ride very few of us get to experience...wherever you end up...best of success to you!

“And the pac12's inferior performance to the WCC continued 2017 and beyond.”

Nonsense & you know it....We have multiple teams winning Tourney games [UO recently in FF & playing UNC tougher than GU did] & the wcc has merely 1 horse in the race virtually every year in GU....So, instead of stating “wcc”, merely state GU, because that’s all that sorry conference has to offer, period.

    Go Utes!

    @ poyman—

    I repeat—

“Per every reputable conference ranking out there—

    PAC-12 > wcc > mwc

    Tourney results—

    PAC-12 4 Ws
    wcc 3 Ws
    mwc 0 Ws”

This wasn’t even remotely confusing.....Well, perhaps for you it was.

    Again—

    PAC-12 > wcc > mwc, period.

    Go Utes!

Apologies... got distracted... In 2019 the pac12 was 4-3 including the provisional game for a 57% win % and without the provisional play-in win they were 3-3 for a 50% win%.

    @azute

    "PAC-12 4 Ws
    wcc 3 Ws
    mwc 0 Ws"

    ************

I guess what you are saying here is that every team that made it into the round of 64 should be credited with a win (because they didn't have to play a game to get in... They got a bye).

The WCC has only 10 teams in the Conference... They went 10-7 against the big bad pac12 during the season... If you just want to look at the 2019 Tourney then you need to look at winning percentages (just because the selection committee messed up again and invited 2 pac12 teams and a provisional team does not make that conference better)... The WCC had 2 invites, they played a total of 5 games and went 3-2 a 60% win ratio... The pac12 played 7 games (including the provisional game) and won 4 completing a 4-7 record (again giving dredit for the provisional game) for a 57% win ratio. (If we throw out the provisional game the pac12 was 3-6 for a win ratio of 50%).

In 2018 the pac12 again only had 3 entries including 2 provisionals and registered a 0-3 record with only 1 team in the field of 64 (a win % of 0.00%). The WCC had only 1 entry and went 2-1 (a win % of 67%).

And the pac12's inferior performance to the WCC continued 2017 and beyond.

The irrelevant time machine called and want to know if you are ready to revisit the 90's heyday in basketball or 2004 and 2008 in football?

Are you seriously attempting to claim we revisit those events even remotely to the same degree byu-p fans hit their time-machine back to their archaic ‘80s “accomplishments”?

“I love how AZUTE is counting ASU's play into the tourney game as a W. Nice man.“

    Andrew,

Literally everybody outside of the byu-p bubble counts their W in our conference total.....And outside of GU, wcc had squat, per typical.

Oregon/UW routinely bring in highly rated recruiting classes/recruits vastly superior to Li, so why wouldn’t he choose either of them & over GU? You obviously don’t follow recruiting very closely.....Go ahead & compare the three’s respective recruiting rankings.

The only reason GU made it ONE round beyond Oregon in The Tourney was due to having a much easier road [similar to their paltry conference SOS].

You refuted zero in my original comment.....Nice try.

    Congratulations Pope.
Perhaps you can use this as a stepping stone to UW or UK as coach. No need to stick around BYU very long.
Given the choice. I would have stayed at UVU. You will find life in the WCC, another one bid conference, irrelevant and quite boring. For some reason BYU fans love it.

I love how AZUTE is counting ASU's play into the tourney game as a W. Nice man.

Didn't #1 PAC lose to #1 WCC, and #3 PAC get spanked by #3 WCC? Didn't the WCC hold a winning record over the PAC this year? Hasn't the WCC had the best team in the west for quite some time? If you gave him the choice of playing for Gonzaga, or playing for Washington or Oregon, you really think he'd choose UW or Oregon???? ROFL!!!!

    Idk, maybe I'm rusty though.
    _____

Yes, because he would go where he has the best opportunity to play and develop. UW, Oregon or Gonzaga.

Not a single mention of BYU in your post. A common pattern of posts by several PAC12 bashers here. Speaking of the WCC, Gonzaga carries that conference. Everyone including your Cougars is riding their coattails. How long with the Zags put up with that?

If Pope could convince Childs to stay that would be good in this situation obviously. Too many players have bailed over the years and at the very least perhaps Pope can use the openings to get some true athletes and defenders. Excited about the change. I was a big Rose fan until the last season or two. The turnover with some very good players and lack of big men playing and developing was weighing on me as a fan. Saw too much selfishness in the play of a couple of players. A new coach was definitely needed in my humble opinion.

If I were in this boy’s position and situation, I would feel the same as he does. Promised and agreements are made during the recruiting process. When the coaches change, all that changes. I’d want to put me in a position where I’m going to get a good chance to be able to show what I can do and capitalize on that opportunity to earn my spot and minutes. I’m also sure Coach Pope and his staff are involved in talks with this young man trying to recruit him and his commitment again. This is a smart move for this kid and just shows his strength in belief in himself, and it should show all of us and the schools recruiting him, what a great young man this competitive kid really is.

Saw him play quite a bit in HS-he was the 3rd option on a very good (CIF D-1 winner) HS team with two other players (Kyman, Agbonkpolo headed to UCLA and USC respectively.

He's a "dirty work" type of player - and will be a real asset to many programs.

Meanwhile, Pope needs to get out there with his Assistants and pull in some 4 stars and some international diamonds stars. Get our international pros identifying some prospects. Talk with Jimmer about getting Yao Ming to return some favors.

I have no doubt it will happen, I'm just hoping for "fast".
