Even with the supposed parity requirements for health insurance to cover both physical and mental health problems equally, it seems that mental health services still severely lag in Northern Utah. As a recently retired licensed clinical social worker, the need for longer-term mental health treatment even after a brief crisis intervention remains high. The Utah State legislature needs to explore the full spectrum of mental health services, including aftercare as well as expanding Medicare to those on the fringes, the darkening twilight zone between poverty and bare subsistence.

Gonna get a whole lot worse, hopelessness is the new epidemic in this country with alcohol and\or drugs being the only immediate relief for many people.

As fewer and fewer in control of more and more of this countries wealth and power this will only get worse.
