    @Thid Barker

"A new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that 55 percent of Americans approve of Trump's diplomacy with North Korea, up from 42 percent in March and 34 percent last October."

And after Neville Chamberlain gave Hitler everything he wanted with nothing in return from Germany, he was hailed as a hero in Great Britain. We know how well that negotiation strategy went.

"Those that support President Trump's efforts to succeed with NOKO or more than those who hope for failure!"

No one is hoping for failure; but the fear of failure is what wakes us up in the middle of the night. And, oh-by-the-way, do you know what peace-loving Kim has been up to since he stopped testing missiles and bombs? The development of missile carrying submarines that can hit us undetected from our own back yard. Your guy is doing a bang up job diplomatically.

“Most Americans and much of the world are hoping President Trump continues to succeed with NOKO.”

To “continue” to succeed assumes there had been success already. There hasn’t.

    “Peace though strength”

Requires a ready, well trained coalition of forces; something you can neither achieve nor maintain when you cancel major joint exercises.

    “no NOKO rockets flying”

No need. Kim has proven the ability to strike South Korea, Japan, and us.

    “and no nuclear testing.”

No need. They have shown they can assemble a nuclear weapon; better to use their plutonium resources to make more weapons than to continue with needless testing.

The euphoria over the notion that peace is busting out all over in Korea is one limited to Victor, ID. To quote GEN Robert Abrams, Commander U. S. Forces Korea, "Little to no verifiable change has occurred in North Korea's capabilities. Further, North Korea conventional and asymmetric military capabilities along with their continued development of advanced conventional munitions and systems all remains unchecked.”

North Korea has been behaving far better than normal since Trump embraced Kim. Maybe Kim is posturing to get included with S Korea in the upcoming summer Olympics. He seemed to enjoy the winter Olympic inclusion.

N Korea will never follow through on any of its promises or agreements, but let's hope they remain peaceful a bit longer.

Most Americans and much of the world are hoping President Trump continues to succeed with NOKO. Peace though strength is always better than weakness demonstrating apology tours! President Trump fully understand that It's not his job to change dictators, but it's his job to show them that his peace and gentleness does not equate to weakness. In the meantime, no NOKO rockets flying and no nuclear testing. God bless you Mr. President, the prayers and hopes of a grateful nation are with you!

Oh yeh! Let's have Kim dictate terms to us. That would really make us look like the leader of the free world. Oh-wait. Do we still look like a leader of the free world?I wonder

@Impartial: " ... it will keep Trump occupied .... Less time to make things worse for America and Americans."

    Well, yes and no.

It will take his mind off his recent chaos-creating. That is good.

But such a public overture ... with conditions no less (!) ... is a sign that North Korea has Trump's number and is exploiting this vulnerability of America, to our detriment and that of our allies in the region.

The timing is not coincidental. Everyone in the world can tell this poor guy is presently 'occupied' well beyond his capacity. His plate is full, though the drama and problems are of his own making and so are at least on his terms and timing.

    Enter North Korea.

How does Trump respond to a diplomatic overture with conditions?

That is what a party in a superior bargaining position does, and what America used to do. Even Trump chooses to ignore it, he will be still be forced into a reactive posture.

Unlike his erratic and seemingly scattered twittering, someone else has taken the initiative. All at a time when Trump genuinely seems to be struggling and not coping well with the stresses of the job ... or at least those parts of the job he chooses to do.

    Stay tuned.

Good. Let's have 3 more summits. No other foreign leaders want to meet with Trump. There is no trust level. Nothing will become of these summits with Kim. But, it will keep Trump occupied and out of the country. Less time to make things worse for America and Americans.
