JaneB.”These teachings from our leaders are precious indeed. And yes, they are based on scripture.”
Doctrine and Covenants 138 Verse 8 “By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison.” (1 Peter 3:19.
The word preached is the Greek word kerrusso or to proclaim it does not mean to preach as to convert. Jesus was telling the disobedient they could have tasted His resurrection.

Verse 10 “For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.” (1 Peter 4:6.)

To support Mormon Doctrine it would have to be in the present tense, For this cause ‘IS ‘the gospel also to them are dead .E.g..,

“woe unto to all those who die in their sins; for they shall return to God and behold His face and remain in their sins”(2 Nephi 5:38)

&(Hebrews 9:27) And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: =No chance after death

We need to hear more women's voices/teachings in general conference. Women are half of this church, and need to be represented in far larger numbers. The past few years have not been an improvement, but a decline in the number of female voices heard in conference. It's very discouraging and sends the wrong message.
