    Herbert Gravy - Salinas, CA;
"Right. Too bad Democrats don't "ease up" on their opposition to border security and their obvious support for illegal immigration."

To bad Republicans didn't listen to Democrats back in 2002 when GWBush allowed illegals to flood our country for the sake of cheap labor.

The opposition to a 'wall', or 'closing the border', is no opposing rational border security.

The Administration has had the authorization to hire some 5000 new CBP agents, and in 2 years has only filled a paltry few 100. A Wall requires staff. In Germany, there was a 50000 strong force was required to control a 900 mile border, with order to shoot to kill. For the US Southern Border, that about 100000 would be required, and similar rules of engagement.

Most of the major drug busts have been at ports of entry along the border, at sea, or at sea ports of entry.

Most of the current aliens who have overstayed their visas (which means they legally enter the country at some point) entered via airports, and not along the Southern Border.

A wall distracts from these pathways that are used, and used to far more frequently than the Southern Border.

The criminal enterprises that deliver drugs, engage in human trafficking, are far more adaptable than Trump and Co. can imagine, especially with the obsession with a Wall.

Every single day Trump does something to stir the pot. He does this to deflect from the previous days issues.

Yesterday it was shutting down the border. The day before it was Puerto Rico, and lying about the amount of aid spent. (He said 91 Billion, and the government reports said 3 billion.) Associated News reported this.

What was it the day before? So much stirring that we can not keep up with it all.

When this nightmare is over, our nation will again settle down.

Oh let's not forget Trump's well publicized attack on The Affordable Care Act. Then the retreat. Or do not forget his attack on Those who want to see the full Mueller Report. Special Olymipics?

This was all in one week. And we can't keep up with it all. By the time we read about one distraction, there is another ten more.

If Trump shuts the border down then watch the uproar. He doesn't think things through. But we all know that, even the GOP supporters.

How hard must it be to rationalize his tweets and rants everyday. Of course honest, decent, educated and moral Americans continue to stand up to this. They are the true patriots in this era.

There were some adults in the room. But the only reason they persuaded Trump to back off on this nonsense was the economic consequence of a closure. When it's a humanitarian issue--think children in cages--Trump could care less.

Herbert Gravy said: "At least President Trump is trying to do SOMETHING positive. Too bad he gets NO cooperation from the left nor the RINOes."

I don't think he is doing or has done anything positive, so glad that some patriotic representatives are keeping him in check. By the way there aren't open borders or people supporting open borders this only exists int he far right mind, and trump loyalists.

Trump talks a lot but doesn't do much of anything but whine, golf, and threaten people, not much of a leader, since leaders also accomplish tasks they set.

The border shutdown would be a much bigger mess then his big gut tells him, but he is seldom correct or truthful.

Should amend my comment to include the RINO Senators and Reps who could do much more to secure our border and our sovereignty.

Build a wall, shut the border, better health care now.

Trump promises, and can't deliver. He makes outrageous claims and can't back it up.

Trump is no leader. He is fundamentally incapable of being a President who understands how to get things done. He would make an effective dictator, but (hopefully) that is not what the country wants.

Please, GOP nominate a person who respects our democratic republic, its Constitution, its institutions, and most importantly is of the highest ethical and moral composition. Your current political leader shares none of these traits. You've had your snit, so let's go about the process of healing the country of such intense hatred. Nominated someone who wants to solve problems, not create them. Some of us might even vote for a Republican if he/she did so.

Like healthcare promises already pulled back this week, another presidential threat being tampered down because of the damage these proposals would cause to the citizens of the United States. Thank goodness there are some adults in the room who can help this President overcome his worst impulses.
