Would our economic and military competitors take advantage of our aid withdrawal to our neighbors to the south?

Are our actions going to drive our neighbors to the south into the arms of the Russians and Chinese?

Recent article on states the President of Panama welcomes Chinese investment in his country. With investment comes influence.

Another recent article mentions the arrival of 100 Russian advisors with 35 tons of cargo in Venezuela .

We need to obsess less with the Middle East and redirect the billions we give to Egypt and Israel to support our neighbors to the south

I hope Trump does shut the southern border and keep it closed until congress reforms our outrageously stupid immigration laws.

Has any government official thought about the root cause of all these refugees fleeing El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras?

For what reason are families willing to walk northward for thousands of miles?

It is crime, political corruption and poverty in their home countries.
MS 13 is almost at the point of taking over El Salvador.
    Modern day Gaddianton bandits.

Rather than obsessing on the Middle East and Israel we ought to divert some of that funding to our Southern neighbors to strengthen their economies and legal systems to make it more attractive for its citizens to remain in their home countries.

Is that such a radical idea? Or should we cut the funding to these countries to accelerate their slide into failed State status?

I realize we would be fighting a powerful lobbying group by trying to divert some of that funding but think of the consequences if our neighbors to the south become Failed states.

Would some of our economic and military competitors want to step in and provide economic assistance in exchange for naval bases and airfields in those countries?

We need to think what is more important to our selves rather than other groups.
