I attended one of the "50th Anniversary" screenings of "2001: A Space Odyssey" last year. That movie runs for 2 hours and 44 minutes. I love that film, but I also very much appreciated having an Intermission. Kubrick also put the Intermission at just the right spot to increase the dramatic tension. I don't think it detracted from the film at all to have a break at that point.

As films have gotten longer and longer I have thought it was high time for intermissions to make a comeback. Marvel could set a positive trend here. If theaters complain about the extra time for a showing, point out to them that it's an excellent opportunity to sell more popcorn and drinks.
Or that they could swap 10 minutes of previews for an Intermission and keep the same number of showings.

Looking forward to this fun movie. I hope it has an intermission!
