Man charged with driving off after hitting University of Utah pitcher

    With no comment as to who is guilty or drunk or whatever, I found this statement interesting:

    The pedestrian, who "admitted to having a couple of drinks," initially told police he was not seriously injured. But it was later discovered that he suffered a broken wrist and foot, and because he "is a pitcher for the University of Utah baseball team … (he) required surgery to his hand," the charges state.

    So, the obvious question...If he suffered some breaks and was not determined to be a utah athlete, would he have not been required to have surgery?! Am I missing something?
