Unfortunately, in Arizona (and other states), there's pressure to defund Child Protective Services as 'wasteful of taxpayer dollars'. Because certain legislative actions are taken without the knowledge of the citizens of the state, some of this pressure succeeds. There just isn't sufficient counter-pressure applied because the voters don't know about it, and in the case of Arizona, voter measures are actively hindered by the legislature.

The high suicide rates in these states also reflects the successful whittling down of public health services.

Simply another example of how life on the web frequently does not represent what happens behind the scenes.

Horrible story. The world of Youtube can be a messed up place. If the children were that obviously malnourished and mistreated I'm surprised none of the channel subscribers picked up on it - then again those things could be edited out.
