Those of us who still value faith, freedom, and family appreciate Gayle's
efforts more than we can say. If more people were as knowledgeable and
committed, our communities, state and country would be better off. Unfortunately
ignorance, apathy, and negligence have taken their toll. We need more people
who value correct and lasting principles over self aggrandizement, financial
gain, and political power. Thank you, Gayle and God bless.
"Can conservative icon Gayle Ruzicka stay relevant in today's
Republican party?"I hope not. She has always been on the fringe,
at least to my thinking.
Im sorry to say it but Gayle Ruzicka is out of touch and her values only
benefit the few. Her stance on issues are dated and she no longer able to
be open minded to todays values. You championed the state and the
people during your time but Its time for Gayle Ruzicka to retire
This is America. Everyone gets a say. She is a dedicated advocate for what she
The republican political party has prostrated itself in complete total
obsesiance to the likes of trump who is unquestionably the complete antithesis
of all that was good about the republican party namely fiscal restraint and
family values. The republican political party will persist in
ignoring/excusing everything trump has done, does and will continue to do.The only thing politically relevant in trump's iteration of the
once proud republican party is to blindly follow trump however low he takes the
party in terms of ethics, integrity and morality.
For one thing, the party doesn't even look like the party she spent years
identifying as her party. They have gotten more extreme right in some cases and
in others put their party to shame with fiscal irresponsibility especially at
the federal level. She is no longer relevant. Few pay much attention
to her anymore where at one-time a law would suddenly be passed or not passed
just by the look she gave legislastors over her glasses.
This is a women who seems to hold on h he past more than move into the world as
it is today. Things that were black and white when Mrs. Ruzika began her
political career are not so black and white today. The definition of
"family" has changed. Schools have changed dramatically from the time I
was in grade school in the 1040's. Our laws have gone from black and white
to grey. Listening to Mrs. Ruzika she is still a dedicated worker to her
cause, it is just that time has passed on and her relevance is not what it was
when I first knew her 30 years ago.
God bless Gayle Ruzicka! For those who don't believe in God, they
might not like the fact that Gayle Ruzicka's work at the Legislature has
saved the lives of many unborn children, has protected the rights of parents to
make the decisions for the children (unless the parent has been proven unfit),
and has protected the State of Utah to be supportive, and in sync, with the
Constitution of the United States. We are all blessed by the great,
untiring, work of Gayle Ruzicka!
@Herbert Gravy - Salinas, CA@Impartial 7“It would
be good for us all to remember that we also have a Constitution and what is
known as an Electoral College.”No one forgot that, Herb. Imp
was correctly pointing out to Light that he was wrong when he said a majority
elected Dear Leader. In fact, the GOP has won the majority of votes in a
Presidential election only once since 1992, and that was in 2004.
It's incredibly rare to hear anyone say Gayle is mean or rude - after
they've actually met her. I've heard many, many people who have formed
their impressions of her second-hand criticize her profusely, and it is wholly
unwarranted. She is a master of making friends with her opponents because she
genuinely loves people. Few people have ever been as frequently, falsely, and
maliciously maligned as Gayle, and it doesn't phase her one bit. She may
not always be 100% right, but she's pretty darn close, and she is
remarkably brave for standing up for unchanging truth in a rapidly changing
world. Point of note: this article tries to pit Gayle and Mike Lee
on opposite sides of the paid family leave issue, but the fact is that both
support family leave and both oppose using taxpayer funds to pay for it.
Lee's bill is to allow people to withhold contributions to their own social
security fund to cover family leave costs. They could then pay it back by
extending their contributions to an older age. It does not use tax dollars,
which is exactly what Gayle supports.
Gayle Ruzicka has done a lot of good and some bad. I've witnessed her
straight up lie to win support to her side. Like all people, she's a mixed
bag. Congrats to her on her long career.
@Mom with a Mission:Everybody agrees that Ruzicka has a right to
express her ideas and lobby for the laws she likes. But many of us find her
views to be narrow-minded and mean-spirited, and we wish our legislators
didn't pay so much attention to her.
@PhineasGauge - St Paul, MN says "It is always interesting to hear the
Conservative white washing of history. I noticed then they were discussing Gayle
and the forums grass roots fights they did not mention some of the less PC ones.
Namely, their fight against interracial marriage, desegregation and interracial
adoption. Hard for me to show grudging respect for those stances. Those were
Conservative "pro family" positions as well"Lies, lies,
lies. None of this is true. Eagle Forum nor Gayle ever promoted these stances.
As much as I detest some of the ideas she promotes, I believe her to be honest
and sincere in her words and deeds. Can she be relevant with today's
Republican party? I don't see how anyone with a shred of integrity can be
part of the criminal enterprise known as the trump presidency. Money laundering,
insurance fraud, real estate fraud, tax evasion are all criminal offenses.
Pornography, adultery, sexual assault are things she abhors. She should distance
herself from the relevance of the rebulican party.
I love all the whiners saying her ideas should not be allowed, and that she has
no right to influence legislators. Did any of you study American History and
Civilization? She is doing exactly what everyone should be doing. The reason she
is so effective is because she cares enough to be there, to get to know the
legislators, to talk to them, serve on committees, and articulate her views
without “bullying” name calling, disrespecting, or bribing. She
volunteers all her time. If you’re so opposed, get up there and make your
voice heard too! I’m sure she’d be happy to show you the ropes.
@Impartial 7It would be good for us all to remember that we also
have a Constitution and what is known as an Electoral College. That
is how we elect a President. Candidates who understand this concept campaign in
the states that will most likely determine the election.Seems as
though Donald Trump understood this pretty well. Future candidates might well
@Light and liberty;"The silent majority that elected Trump will still
be around in 2 years."You do realize that the majority of
Americans voted for Hillary-right?
Gayle Ruzicka represents that paradox of activism: the woman upholding
"traditional" values who spends an inordinate amount of time away from
the hearth. Isn't it ironic that someone who spends so much time to keep
women in the home has to spend so much time out of the home?
It is always interesting to hear the Conservative white washing of history. I
noticed then they were discussing Gayle and the forums grass roots fights they
did not mention some of the less PC ones. Namely, their fight against
interracial marriage, desegregation and interracial adoption. Hard for me to
show grudging respect for those stances. Those were Conservative "pro
family" positions as well.
Any man who supports 'born alive', is not a man........glad we have
Gayle to fight against them that do!
Her day will come when she has to answer for all the horrible mean things she
has done and hateful things she stands for. Karma
It amazes me how people on the left, many who yell, riot, use abusive language
and prevent people from speaking on campuses accuse people on the right of being
dictators for expressing their opinions in a dignified way.Gayle has
always been and will always be relevant to me.
How can one be "moderate" on a subject like abortion? The
Liberal-Left has derided conservatives and ridiculed their arguments as a
"slippery-slope" fallacy. But we see now that the slippery-slope was
real. We have already slid to the very bottom of the slop. The Democrat party
really does support "very late third trimester abortions". There are only three trimesters, and so "late third trimester" means
"right up to birth".And then they even want to let Mother and
Doctors "have a discussion" about whether a live, viable, living,
already-born infant should be allowed to live or die.
Conservatism is actually wining the culture war, now that the elite media
outlets no longer have a monopoly on the control of information. Younger people have always appeared to be "more liberal"; but then
they keep growing up and becoming conservatives. Recall that all of
today's conservatives were once flower children who believed we were
entering the Age of Aquarius!Reality has a habit of requiring that it be
so, you're a Ruzicka supporter and don't want the truth told about her
history.Sometimes, people call your "denial" a dialogue that
introduces truthful information into the subject matter. That is EXPANDING a
narrow focus that someone else may have.
When can the 'white, mormon, male' have an advocate for victim hood
like everyone else burrowing at the trough of the Utah Legislature or, in fact,
across America? Why can't we allow people to figure out a few things on
their own without running to the seat of power to whine, complain, and espouse
victim status? If you truly like freedom, equality, and justice, you would say
to all those crying 'victim', 'this isn't our job. Go find
your own path to peace, prosperity, and happiness without wanting the validation
of somebody in the seat of power or carving out a special place for you to blame
someone for your own challenges or problems!' Trump exists because that
silent majority, who thought vainly and naively for a generation, finally said,
'this is ridiculous. Give me someone that won't continue siding with
the irresponsible, the victims, and the ones who want someone to make them feel
good.' The legislature and our government is not meant to solve every
crisis. The silent majority that elected Trump will still be around in 2 years.
The actual symbiotic relationship is the Utah Eagle Forum, The Church, and the
Utah Republican Party. Nothing any of them say or do will surprise me. Do
whatever you want- to yourselves, however, leave the rest of us free-thinkers
Gayle is correct most of the time, except on cannabis. The hedonists just rage
The only extreme position I take is as an Extreme Moderate. Ms. Ruzicka appears
to be a bully extremist. I don't care if you are an extremist on the
right, or the left, I am not with you.And @ We the People, do you
even read what you write? Do you understand that what you have said has nothing
to do with the American constitution, the idea of the American Experiment, and
the concept of freedom of agency?
First off, I can only think of one or maybe two times I have ever agreed with
Gayle Ruzicka. On the other hand, if those who differ with her, myself
included, were to bring to bear a fraction of the energy and dedication, the
knowledge of process, personalities, hopes and fears that she has, the political
picture in Utah would be far different than it is. We really have no one to
blame but ourselves.
Although I don't agree with her on every issue, I've long admired her.
She is dedicated to the traditional family and the U.S. Constitution. Go Gayle!
@liaYes, regarding the "morals" of the Republican Party. The very same thing can be said about the Democratic Party.Neither party is all wrong and the other all right. Each of us
needs to look into the mirror more closely.🤗
Straw woman argument. Typical journalistic sleight-if-hand.Like Clark Aposhan represents gun owners.A reporter's Rolodex
card does not an expert make.
Frankly, I support her efforts.
I hope she doesn't have a place. The main thing I associate with her is
that she's been anti-gay for decades.
I live in her neighborhood and very impressed with her character and commitment
to improving this state. You have got to love and respect her work ethic and her
commitment to improving our society. Those people irritated by her championing
values need to quit degrading her and do something yourself. Talk is Cheap and
she researches out and recommends based on experience and sound policies.
LOL. She has never been relevant except for newspaper reporters who need a
story to polarize the population.
Thank you, Gayle Ruzika, for standing up for virtue and truth. The good
you've done and do is much appreciated.
I've never understood why such a moral and religious person needs to use
threats, intimidation, fear and damnation to get people to agree with her. The
Utah legislature needs to grow a spine when it comes to Ruzicka.
She has always been a strong opponent of public education. Shame on her for
Ruzicka claims to have an all powerful phone tree with which she can rally
enough Mormon Republican voters to bring down the wrath of god on any legislator
with whom she disagrees. The cowards in the legislature bend in fear to her
claims.Does she really have that many people on this legendary phone
tree to make a difference? No one really knows how many members of the Eagle
Forum there are.Remember, the only thing you have to fear, is fear
itself. Ruzicka creates a fear and legislators cower.
Another example of a Democratic father working his fingers to the bone giving
his children a better life.
Wethe people posts:"Thank you, Gayle, for keeping our so-called
Republican legislators on the Correct Moral Path!"Morals can
never bed associated with today's GOP, sorry to report.
She can NOT stay relevant today--Good thing...we need balance here...
Only relevant if the group gets Mexico to pay for the wall, cut the national
debt, get rid of the affordable care act, and shuts down media that questions
Was this article and attempt by the DNews to help her "relevant"
cause?IF not, what is the point of the article?
I would think it is important to distinguish that she is a social conservative.
When you define conservatives (or liberals for that matter) as a monolithic
group, you miss some very important points, and mislead many people. As a Libertarian-type conservative (meaning socially liberal, fiscally
conservative), I find Ruzicka's social/religious views abhorrent for the
most part. And yet, for the DN's purposes, we are thrown together merely as
You can never deny the power of a zealot. This lady is indeed a powerful one,
armed with only a few thousand true supporters, she makes the Utah legislature
quake in her path.Kinda' like the Bolsheviks during WWI. A
small dedicated group of extremists are able to control the fate of millions
for generations with their extremist passion for power over others.
Thank you, to this fine woman who stood and stands up for truth and virtue.
A woman of very strong character. I like her.
Ruzicka has always done Archie Bunker's heavy lifting. Women are baby
machines, not worthy of equal pay, and not capable of making decisions about
their own bodies.
Gayle Ruzicka, like so many of the Party Leaders who selflessly volunteer their
time at party caucuses, has done so much to keep Utah politics on a correct
path, safe from the fads of popular morality and the excesses of mob rule. She
provides a True Example of wise and inspired Leadership, if only the voters and
poiticians will listen. And now that the Supreme Courte has gutted
our party's Freedom of Association, her role as a moral watchdog has never
been more important.Thank you, Gayle, for keeping our so-called
Republican legislators on the Correct Moral Path!
Scott Bauer and LDS2 summed it up nicely.
It will never cease to amaze me how religious people feel their personal
dedication to God gives them the right to do all they can to dictate to others
how the can and cannot, must and must not live their lives. In a free,
democratic society that shouldn't be allowed to stand.
Oh, please no!
