Wow, Thomas Jefferson! Where have you been hiding this last month? Must've been wwwaaaaayyy off the grid!

The entire quote she uttered at a MLK Now event in NYC in January goes:

“Millennials and people, you know, Gen Z and all these folks that will come after us, are looking up, and we’re like: ‘The world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change, and your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it?”

It'll take you all of three seconds to Google it.

    There's your citation.

To "Darren Putnam" but depleted uranium is mostly harmless. That is why we use it as armor in military vehicles and use it in ammunition fired from tank busting helicopters and aircraft.

    @ Impartial7

"Most of our lawmakers honestly believe that the world is not going to be here much longer. "

    I know, right?

Ocasio-Cortez says, "The world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change..."

So, I guess the religious right and the environmental activist left are actually agreeing on this issue.

    Hmmmmmm.......

Most of our lawmakers honestly believe that the world is not going to be here much longer. They don't see the long term consequences.

I agree that this bill is a horrible idea and the governor should veto it. It is another obvious case of a very wealthy someone's 'donation' getting them 'access' to our legislators.

But I would like to point out that a long half life means less radiation/time. We are all far more at risk from the radiation from the sun so lets not panic.

Yes, we need to be responsible to and for future generations. It is sensible and noble to think in these terms.
It is also unfortunate to have to recognise that none of that matters. This will be settled in favour of whomever pays enough to our lawmakers. I mean donates enough. There's a difference.
I'm tired of being always so cynical but it's impossible not to be. A healthy donation beats a healthy future every time. The NRA knows it, as does big pharma and big tobacco. So does the Seld-m-leak nuclear waste company.
