When I was in university, I just walked past the wingnuts and ignored them. They complain about not getting an audience. Maybe Donald Trump wants to make it mandatory that students pay attention when they're hurrying to class or busy doing something else that interests them. This may be a way to gin up interest or at least make conservative speakers think that they are relevant.

The reason students don't care to listen to conservative speakers is that they remind them of their conservative parents locked in the early 1950s when a world existed that they cannot related to today. These students have friends and family who don't look like they stepped out of the 1950s. Nor do they have friends and family who can relate to what these conservative speakers are talking about.

There is nothing that keeps conservative speakers from speaking on campus except a few miscreants who come on campus and make mischief. Very similar to the miscreants you find at Trump rallies, responding to Trump's urging them to violent acts, punching people Trump tells them to attack.

So, who is to blame here? You can't blame the universities since they already have rules enforcing the 1st Amendment.

"Conservative tater you say FOX NEWS is honest about conservative? Wow, "

yeah! WOW! Nowhere have I ever said Faux noise was "news or fair and balanced" much less that I supported Faux. Faux is considered to be "entertainment," not NEWS.

Never have I ever said that Faux was "honest" of fair and balanced.

You need to quit trying to spin what you don't understand. Take a moment to re-read anything I've said and show me where I endorse Faux.

Or, just show me a comment I made supporting Faux. Good hunting.

Apparently Hannity, Limbaugh, Dobbs, Ingraham and the rest of the Faux News Entertainment Corporation are on hiatus. The Supreme Leader’s usual band of low information sycophants are again clearly unable to regurgitate anything different other then the tired talking points of “Socialism”, “Venezuela”, “Benghazi” and their latest deflection being “Chappaquiddick”, which was 50 years ago! Give the clear majority of America a break with these daily asinine talking points. You would believe with impeachment proceedings now inevitable, this “ilk” would at least begin reciting new rhetoric. Possibly begin thinking for yourselves at some point. Country before party comrades! You’re welcome.

I hope his order protects the right to grab the American flag, hug it and give a creepy smile. That is what needs to be protected.

Issuing a free speech order makes it look like the govt. is the source of our rights; And, staying on this track one day govt. will think that it is the source of rights. Freedom of speech is an unalienable right which we are endowed by our creator.

How about just enforcing the Constitution, The Supreme Law of the Land.

Conservative tater you say FOX NEWS is honest about conservative? Wow, they still refer to themselves as fair and balanced which is far from the truth. The other networks report as they see fit with no false claims such as fair and balanced. On any given show you will have 4-5 conservatives at least two extremes for every one moderate liberal, not to fair and balanced.

The order should include the Federal government paying for the costs to protect the right wing radicals.

Because it doesn't happen. If it did we'd never, ever hear the end of it from the MSM. "

Riight? Just because Rush and Sean hide it from you, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. But, since you asked, Google "People punched at Trump rallies" in Fayetteville NC, Southern Cal and Ashville NC. Trump supporters got arrested. So, there's a start for you.

So a man who wouldn't recognize truth if it bit him on the leg and who has done his best to denigrate and stymie ability to the press to truthfully report his actions is now trying to protect the "freedom" of his supporters on college campuses?

Putting aside the obvious hypocrisy and blatant pandering to his base, that's really not a bad idea.

Freedom of speech is one basic foundation block of a free press.

So although his attempts are clumsy and founded on entirely the wrong reasons, this is not one of his worst ideas.

ERB Here is more "violence by Trump supporters."

    Birmingham, AL

Get him the hell out of here, will you, please?” Trump said on Saturday morning. “Get him out of here. Throw him out!”

At one point, Southall fell to the ground and was surrounded by several white men who appeared to be kicking and punching him, the men put his hands on Southall’s neck and heard a female onlooker repeatedly shout: “Don’t choke him!”

“I’d like to punch him in the face”
Trump said this in front of a crowd of supporters, after a protester was removed from one of his rallies in Las Vegas on 23 February 2016.

“Maybe he should have been roughed up”
Trump said this on Fox and Friends on 22 November 2015

“I don’t know if I’ll do the fighting myself or if other people will”
Trump said this on 11 August 2015, when asked at a press conference in Birch Run, Michigan

“The audience hit back. That’s what we need a little bit more of”

Trump said this at a press conference in Palm Beach, Florida on 11 March 2016. he mused that he would like to have punched a protester in the face.

“If you do (hurt him), I’ll defend you in court, don’t worry about it”
Trump said this during another rally in March 2016

MaryMc, if the MSM was 99% conservative you’d have problems with that. At least Fox News is honest about being conservative. The MSM portrays itself as being unbiased. The whole world knows that’s not true.

    April 3, 2017 Louisville, Ky

It's what came next that set the Kentucky rally apart. First, a crowd video went viral, showing a black woman mobbed and jostled by mostly white Trump supporters as the candidate shouted, “Get out!”

Weeks later came a lawsuit, based in part on that video, in which the woman and two other protesters say crowd members assaulted them upon Trump's command. And that Trump — among other alleged counts — incited a riot.

There are numerous incidents of Trump encouraging his supporters to use violence against protesters, but you won't find them on the Faux Propaganda Hour.

You can google this stuff but you probably won't believe it since it is Documented by the MSM that you hate so much.

OK, I’ll bite, Daedalus. You are saying Socialism is good, what’s going on in Venezuela is fine, Benghazi was handled correctly, and Chappaquiddick was just a car accident. How does anyone respond to that? If you truly believe all four of your examples prove the Right is wrong, no wonder we can’t agree on anything with the Left. Seriously.

This is pandering to his base yet again. He doesn't want free speech. He attacks the free press almost daily. What he says, and what he does are not consistent. Reports on all the major media outlets are talking about the hypocrisy of this possible Executive action. Even The Associated Press that the Deseret News uses.

He wants more free speech on campus. Fine! Then they will be able to attack and speak out against him. Right? That is what free speech is about, right Deseret News?

Don't kid yourself. Trump doens't want free speech for all. He wants his own version of propaganda clothed in supposed "free speech".

A Presidential order to ban on Saturday Night Live spoofs of the President? Jail for Alec Baldwin for his acting job on SNL playing DJT? Public flogging for Oscar winners who dare question the President?

Geez. We are in more peril than I thought.

"... why does he try to curtail free speech from the American press? It doesn't seem like a consistent policy."

He doesn't 'curtail free speech from the American press' at all. He calls them out when all they do is deliver biased news. Free speech does not mean freedom from consequence. There's a difference.

    Get educated.
