“EVERY reputable conference ranking out there has our conference ranked ahead of BOTH wcc/mwc, period.”

The WCC is 10-7 versus the PAC 12 and #1 Gonzaga is a legitimate national championship contender. The best team in the PAC 12 is unranked and might get a #7 seed if they win out.

    -----

Can you guys go an article without riding on Gonzaga's coattails?

And the #2 teams in P12 and WCC?

    ASU is a 12 seed.

BYU might be a one-and-done NIT team if they win out.

IIRC, The PAC-12 is the 2nd/3rd youngest conference out there this year.

    Go Utes!

    CO Ute

“This was not going to be more than a development year for the Utes and they were picked to finish in the bottom third of the conference...”

Why does the 8th highest paid coach in college basketball need a “development year” 8 years into his tenure?

How often does the real Coach K require a development year to get his program back on track, especially against the weakest power conference?

Y fans should be glad the horrible PAC 12 didn’t consider adding your team to the conference based on the comments here.

This was not going to be more than a development year for the Utes and they were picked to finish in the bottom third of the conference. The team has already won more games than any of the posters here predicted. Next year could be good if the current core stays plus three recruits with potential, kids the red shirted this year, and I believe one RM that was a nice recruit. LK needs to make some noise the next two years with the talent he has assembled.

3 PAC 12 teams made it to the NCAA tourney not 2? and when did Larry claim the league was so dang competitive. He may have said that last year not this year.

"The PAC 12 is a dumpster fire. Luckily the tv contract is so bad nobody can see it. It does have the ability to turn around quickly but maybe no one is interested in being competitive, just a paycheck."

All I know is that the Utes were on ESPNU and FS1 last week. The Cougars were on what station? Oh yeah they were not.

According to you people, in football, head-to-head takes a back seat.....Why is it any different in basketball?

Fact is, in no way did you refute what I stated.....Conference rankings don’t lie.

And, according to their game in Spokane, GU is a whopping 2 pts better than UW.

I know how much you byu fans value margin-of-defeat moral victories.

    Go Utes!

According to National Sports shows, Washington is the only p a c team good enough for the NCAA tournament. The pac is really going downhill and both basketball and football. They are going to have to figure out something fast or the conference is in big trouble.

Wazzu is an entirely different team w/a healthy Franks in the lineup & have proven so recently.....They had UW beat ‘til the very end.

The Utes used to have a very proud basketball program, led by some decent (and some times very charismatic) coaches. Now the Utes are able to actually recruit some good players, but each year many of them leave the program to go elsewhere. Attendance is down at both Utah and BYU, but the trends are headed in opposite directions, with BYU improving and Utah not. While BYU beat both Utah and Utah state this year, they also lost to Weber State. Right now the Aggies seem to have the most going for them. With the way BYU is playing right now, they should take second place in the WCC. The PAC12 seems to have lost focus and are in free-fall as a conference (and Utah right along with them). Both Utah and BYU have some underclassmen that show promise for the future (if they stay together).

And 2nd place in this conference isn’t even noteworthy. This conference is pathetic and has been for years. Our last NC was when?!

This team is a joke and coach K needs to get back to the sweet 16 very soon, and stay there, or be gone.

Well, of course, except Brad Rock and his legion of coog fans who want to feel good about indy/wcc purgatory.
