“BYU still has no wins against NCAA tournament bound teams and no wins against good teams.”

    Does Utah?

First, chanman is a byu-p fan.

To your question, ASU likely gets into the Tourney & we have a legitimate chance of sweeping them this Saturday....ASU has Ws over KU/Miss St/UW to their credit—They’re a bubble-team @ worst & are currently the PAC-12’s 2nd best team.

p.s. How did byu-p fare against that same Miss St squad?

Winning is good. Lest anyone think BYU has suddenly turned some kind of basketball corner, keep in mind that the last three wins were against the three worst teams in the WCC. BYU still has no wins against NCAA tournament bound teams and no wins against good teams. They do have three wins against fair teams like themselves--Utah, Utah State and St. Marys. BYU's losses to NCAA tournament teams have all been blowouts from start to finish. If getting to the NIT is a major accomplishment for BYU and all BYU wants, then I'm okay with that. I know Mr. Holmoe says everything is right on track so I guess that's where we are!

Anything is possible, but I don’t have any expectations about being able to hang with Gonzaga in the Kennel this year.

The Zags will likely be a #1 seed in the Big Dance this year.

I just wish they could STARTwi5h intensity. If they have to wait and let it build, the game will be lost before get it together. They did that against Utah. Anyone see Gonzaga v St. Marys? We start like we did Saturday and we will be down by 20 and no one is going to catch Gonzaga after that. Duke couldn't do it.

Appears that Bear Bryant coined that phrase about defense winning games/championships.

A few wins in a row does amazing things for the perception of the team. I hope it bodes well for the rest of the league games. I fear for the away games that aren't against the Portland's of the world. All teams look good against Portland. We will see ....

I know. Sometimes it seems like Connor Harding is MORE than one person.

Reminds me of Taysom and Jimmer.

It was a tough physical game. I loved the intensity the BYU players brought and kept battling the entire way against a team that just wouldn't let down either. Great job not letting the bad calls get into their heads. Nice work Cougars.

Would be nice if SOME BYU players would give their opponents a little more credit.

Pacific played very well and the outcome was not determined until the waning minutes.

    Nice game Pacific. And BYU.

“We have a big advantage when we play at home and should play Attack in the MAC.”

True, even though it hasn’t been called the MAC in years.

I agree with @water rocket's assessments. Yoeli was double and triple teamed at times and BYU was patient and handled it, but you got the feeling that if the Cougars were going to break out of a close game they needed to play more on attack, especially at home. This game had a feel of a road game. We have a big advantage when we play at home and should play Attack in the MAC.

Mao Zedong said that the best defense is a good offense. It is a phrase that is often used by coaches and military leaders around the world. Who said offense fills the seats but defense wins championships?

It shouldn't have been a "Dog Fight" last night. Would someone take the ball away from Childs when he is not hitting the 3 point shoot. Thank goodness the team is seeing other players step up and make points when Childs is off on his game. Harding and Conners did a very good job of keeping BYU in the game. Maybe Pacific did throw them off their game a little, but, still spreading the ball around more at the very first would have taken the air out of the Pacific team. As usual the Refs did a terrible job at calling fouls. But since they represent the style of play of the very top of the WCC which is rough play on the court and letting fouls go, especially slanting calls in their favor... I'm sure when it comes to the WCC Tournament, the so called Kings of the WCC will have place sufficient Aces on their side to insure that they are once again crowned Kings of the WCC. In the Portland game, their was very good ball movement in the BYU team. The team was not standing around. Probably the best game BYU has played this year. The team got the ball to the open shooter and many players made points making the scoring evenly spread across the board. BYU are you listening? T.I.J.

Yoeli's game was sub par for Yoeli, He was horrible from the free throw line, and from distance, but boy can he ever get the job done down low. Teams are double and triple teaming him and he still makes shots. I do wish the entire team played more on attack and passed the ball inside, rather that perimeter passing, but I give BYU credit for a tough, gritty defensive game.
