Time has not been on the side of a lot of Gonzaga's opponents. However it gives you something to shoot for.

The good news is we are shooting 100 percent - 60 percent from the field and 40 percent inside the paint.

BYU looked like a bunch of Kitty Cats chasing a Ball of Yarn in a pet store. Change is severely needed in the coaching staff. You will never be able to recruit top talent playing a synchronized Swimming Teams in the pre season. Rose only cares about his record instead of the interest of the BYU basketball program.

What is a ute fan to write about when his team loses to the 8th place team in a PAC-12 league going through a down year (seems like several down years now, eh)?

Oh, yes. Let's write about BYU not being able to keep pace with basketball powerhouse Gonzaga, an odds-on favorite to go back to the Final Four, in what might be its pinnacle season when there is a legitimate chance the Zags will win it all.

(Sure, the author included the cheap shot of bringing up that BYU has no P5 affiliation while completely ignoring the fact that Gonzaga is doing fine without the P5 designation. But the same author provides no mention of how BYU routed P5 Utah in SLC. Hmm. How interesting. But I digress.)

If we're discussing keeping pace, why not mention BYU beat #1 Gonzaga on the road in the Kennel just two short years ago, or that they've managed to beat Gonzaga at their place 3 out of the last four times?

Yes, let's ignore all that and beat a team while they're down. That will make a ute fan feel better about losing last night - I guess.

As I posted previously, I wasn't expecting us to be able to beat Gonzaga. They are REALLY good. But there are actually only two things they have that are better than what we have: better players and better coaches. Take those two things away and what are they? Nuthin'. Ha. Or

Ghost Writer. I don’t recall this article referencing the BYU/Utah game. But ok, I’ll play along. Your rear view mirror looks bright and hopeful for BYU.

As a BYU fan, that game was hard to watch but I kept reminding myself that they are ranked #4 for a reason and beat Duke earlier in the year. Gonzaga is a great team and it is always hard to lose, but sometimes you just get beat by a better team.

With that said, BYU really needs to improve and quickly. This is a league that they should be competing with Gonzaga on a yearly basis and going to the NCAA (not NIT) tournament on a yearly basis. How many of us 8 years ago could even name another team from the WCC besides Gonzaga? None.

Anyone who thinks BYU is at the "top of the conference" must have arrived on Mother Earth just yesterday.

The really bad news is that the rest of the conference is improving......Cougars not so much.

What impressed me is how well the Zags execute the fundamentals. Again, Cougars not so much.

All the "not so much" problems will never change until the program is re-invented by some smart people.

"Road kill on the road to the Final Four" that has a nice ring to it.

What a team and what a program. They built the program on the mantra; anyone, anywhere, anytime. They have played every big program and beating Duke this year really proved what a power house this team is. Coach Few is a class act. I actually think this team is better than the final 4 team; especially with Tillie back.

Now if I could just get tickets. No chance of that; it's the hardest ticket in all the land.

    Go Zags!

Hats off to the Bulldogs. While I didn't like watching the Cougars be dominated like that, Gonzaga played like the ultimate team. They had a plan, they were confident in each other, and they were always in control. The defense was largely excellent, and they never settled for a rushed or awkward shot that I saw. They are definitely the best team I have seen come into Provo for some time, including they year they were ranked #1. Very impressive young men and coaching staff.

I've often read comments by BYU fans wherein they say things like "BYU needs to be playing in the Mountain West" or power conference. Gonzaga is a great example why this isn't necessarily true. Gonzaga has made the most of doing their best where ever they are at. They don't complain about whom they are playing, rather make sure to defeat them. The lesson is, BYU needs to quit complaining and dreaming, but actually produce. This article seems to be implying the same thing -- After many years, BYU still isn't dominating the WCC when many expected it. Rather, Gonzaga has rose to the occasion while BYU has not.

To be fair, if it were so easy, other teams would be doing the same. This point demonstrates how good is Gonzaga's Coach Few.

In the future, I hope BYU can focus on doing what it takes to win rather than feeling entitled to play this team or that team in this conference or that conference. Gonzaga is the example to follow.

Gonzaga was incredibly impressive. No need for BYU fans to be psyched out -- they lost to a Gonzaga team at the top of it's game, while BYU, while still holding a winning record, is not at the best it's been. And maybe . . . just maybe . . . the WCC is a decent basketball conference. (Why would Gonzaga possibly think that the MWC would be an upgrade?) What was the score again of this years Cougar-Ute game? In SLC nonetheless?
