    "That's the only ONE."

    antiCoog:

Uh, no. It's the just last one before 2008.

Of course, you're forgetting Utah's 1944 NCAA basketball championship. And before you say NIT, remember that Utah beat the '44 NIT champ right after the tournaments, and then won the NIT in 1947.

Other than the 1981 NCAA men’s skiing championship?

    That’s the only ONE.

“OK, 2008 football. Utah was deemed No. 1 by selectors Anderson & Hester, Massey College Football Ratings, and Wolfe, which the NCAA recently acknowledged.”

    bwahahaha 🤣

The NCAA doesn’t even mention Utah on their official FBS National Championship History webpage.

Somewhere buried in a footnote somewhere you might find a list of teams mentioned in a minor poll, but only a desperate Ute fan would care.

In the major polls, U finished a distant 2nd in one poll. In the official BCS final poll, the coaches poll, U finished 4th.

    Current Standings

    #5 BYU
    #85 Utah

It continues to amaze me how success by ANY Utah team just sends some people in a complete melt down. Life is too short to be so negative. Enjoy the sports successes of your own teams, if you can, and celebrate the commitment and successes of these kids that give their all for their school, their communities and their states.

Congratulations ladies! Keep up the GREAT work!

    Go Utes!

jealous Ute fans - “If you’re going to compare Utah and BYU standings, then compare them in common sports.”

    LOL at the dodge.

The Utes just added men’s lacrosse.

If the Utes were to miraculously win the national championship this year, do you honestly think that the Utes would not “count” that championship, because BYU only has a club-level team?

    Get real.

The Utes have always counted their coed ski championships even though Utah only has two legitimate competitors - Denver and Colorado.

“If you’re going to compare Utah-SLC and BYU standings, then compare them in common sports.”

    Why?

Just because Utah is too cheap to sponsor a broad range of sports, doesn’t mean some of BYU’s best sports shouldn’t count.

The Directors Cup measures accomplishments in all NCAA men’s and women’s sports, and vast majority of the “conference of champions” championships have been won in sports like men’s volleyball, track & field, water polo, cross country and numerous other sports in which the Utes don’t compete.

If the PAC 12 only counted football championships, the entire conference would trail BYU:

Last Consensus Major College Football National Championship

    BYU - 1984
    PAC 12 - 1970’s

Brilliant! This is why you follow Ute sports this year, because (like this team) they are all on the rise. Ute football will be better next year than this last year. The Utes Mens team is chock full of Freshmen who contribute a ton to their toughness and give everyone reason to hope and these terrific athletes--this fine group of Women Utes? They're leading the way.
