Let's you go lots of things on one night. Trust me the fish bowl smelt better than the utah game."

Well... you are talking to a ute fan. Best to assume the answer here would be no.

    Utelogy,
Yes, the so called high school team that owns the utes on the hardwoods and has for years. That team.

This caught me by surprise. I thought, following the AZ trip, they would do better. Lots of games remaining. I'm not a small coach k fan, but he can't shoot the ball or play defense...it's up to the players to handle those two roles. Me thinks the Cougars from Pullman will be facing a very fired up Ute team.

Watched part of the game in between bathing the cat and cleaning out the fish tank.
My wife made the comment, "man, the utes are terrible at basketball and then went back to her romance novel. I just smiled and nodded in agreement.

    --------

Let me see if I understand you correctly.

BYU also played last night and your top 3 things to do were:

    1. Give your cat a bath
    2. Utah basketball
    3. Clean out the fish tank

    Even your wife would rather:
    1. Read a romance novel
    2. Complain about Utah

Rather than watch high school basketball, aka WCC?

This expalins why BYU is the #1 most rival obsessed fanbase.

Same story, poor shooting. Barefield isn't good enough to consistently lead this team and the young talent struggled again.

    Ute buster,
“Agreed. We would be fit right into the WCC.”

As cannon fodder for teams like Pacific and Portland.

The utes looked like a Jr. High team out there. OK, they had a few good games but it now back to normal.

    USA lover,
the consultant has been hired and he has ordered the lipstick but he realized he is going to need a few more cases.
The pac is also the lowest class of backetball as well as football.

When Herbstreit speaks, people listen. The pac is on the decline and it all started 8 years ago. Anyone see the coincidence? HMMMM..

    Blaming the refs, again.
I think the ute fans missed the two elbows by Gash to the head of a husky player on drives. Neither was called on him but rather on the Husky player. Terrible calles. He should have been tossed on either one. The pac refs were terrible as usual and favored the utes for the most part.

USA lover, shame on you for pointing out Herb's assessment of pac football. There is a movement by the real P4 schools to boot the pac out of the P5 group.

What a great day in sports, BYU wins by a big margin and Utah loses by a big margin.

I agree with 'at long last' - the referees favored Washington. It was obvious. The Utes had no chance.

I was really hoping that the utes would win out so that the annual beat down that the Cougs gave them once again would add up to a quality win this year .... not going to happen as this team is probably the 6th best team in the state this year ....

No ranked basketball teams in PAC-12. Herbstreit called PAC-12 football, "the lowest class of football in PAC-12 history".

They better hire that consultant fast.

    utahute69,
As a big man himself and going into his 9th year you would think strong inside play would be a tradition. Let's give that big money to somebody else that's going to build and not rebuild every year.

Simply out athlet—ed last night. When you see those kind of in lane blocks of drop shots and players simply not caring if you go up strong, it just means one thing. They know that they are better athletes than you. Hats off to the Washington team.

This was primarily a failure of the Ute players to adjust to the way the officiating was done. That is, the refs allowed constant hand checks, slaps, pushes and shoves by Washington - the Utes did not adjust at all to that kind of play.

This was not unfair or biased refereeing, just different from the usual in that they allowed all the minor stuff to go on unabated. The Utes did not respond in kind.

In any game that is called this way, Washington has an excellent chance to win. In any game called 'closer', they will have problems.

Utah has some very good guards and small forwards, When it comes to the big guys, they are slow, uncoordinated, bad passers, have bad hands, don't box out well, are not great shooters, get blocked a lot, and are average re-bounders. The game plan is a bunch of outside three point shooting with a pass going inside being more likely to get picked off rather than caught and shot. Washington's big men actually could play inside. They were effective and could score with ease. Their team didn't depend on outside shooting to stay in the game. I don't know what the coach has in the line for future players, but he needs to pick up some serious fast big body boys if he going to end the season with a bid to any post season play. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening at the Freshman level. We usually come with a player transfer from another school that is unhappy and doesn't have much time left in his college playing time. Utah's biggest problem at the moment is our inability to recruit effective big men that can play on a par with players like Washington's excellent big men.
