I grew up when basketball in Provo was very good. The Marriott Center was always full watching fan favorites like Cosic, Ainge, Durrant, Roberts, Chapman, Smith and many more. However, BYU basketball is a far cry from what it used to be. It's been years since I watched a game at the Marriott Center. I seldom turn on the TV to watch a televised BYU game. Worst yet, I don't care anymore.

It is fun when we have a quality team (once every 20 years or so, if lucky), but otherwise it just isn't worth the time. Not sure what to do to fix it as I don't think BYU will ever be able to recruit the athletes needed to really compete.

Sad that a once quality basketball program has fallen so far.

There is zero chance of this team ..... with this coaching staff making the NCAA tourney. The current circumstances are a direct result of 7 years of poor recruiting, 7 years of poor talent evaluation, 7 years of not expanding or developing the bench, and many more years of not knowing or being able to coach defense. Throw in Tom Holmoes lack of talent evaluation ability as to his coaches and you get a contract extension on this dumpster fire of a program. It won’t get better until Rose and Holmoe are gone.

Hope springs eternal, but until BYU can play man, the only way we beat a top 25 team is if the other team has a bad shooting night. BYU doesn't have the offense to outscore good teams so please BYU...prove to me that I am wrong. My heart says one thing; my brain says another.

But you beat Utah, so the season is already an unqualified success.

No big man, committee of guards, living and dying by the 3 point shot. They could lose between 6 and 8 WCC games, finishing between 5th and 7th. 16 - 16 with a first round loss in WCC tournament and 16 - 17 is a realistic end. But who knows they might only lose 5 and win a first game and go 20 - 13. I wish them luck but it is going to be a long year for the cougar hoopsters.

I wish there were reasons to hope for this team. Dave Rose can’t coach defense ....and Holmoe is his BFF. Sad for BYU basketball fans. Rose should have been gone several years ago. NCAA is out. NIT is doubtful....
    Very sad.
