My sweetheart and I drove to San Diego for the Holiday Bowl so many times it seems as though we could just put the car on the road and let it drive itself. I especially recall the Wash State game. It was fun having the Cougars meet the Cougars, especially, perhaps for me because I began my college career in Pullman and ended it in Provo. We sat in a section filled with WSU boosters and along with them had a great time. I remember the headlines in the San Diego paper as some very insightful reporter posted the headline, "And McMahon Came To Pass".

I also recall the SMU game. We were unable to attend because that very day our oldest son returned from his mission in Norway. As we were driving from the airport back to Midway, Utah we were listening to the game on KSL. The final play filled the car with happy shouts. As Coach Whit said, nothing but happy Holiday Bowl memories, even when we didn't pull out a victory.

Good fortune, Utes. And Coach Whit will always be one of my favorite players and certainly a favorite coach of mine. He is no nonsense, players first...my kind of guy.

Here is hoping Utah has a blow out game like BYU and Utah State. Now that would be something special for all true sports fans in Utah.
