    Nope!

Utah has literally played hundreds of opponents who were just as bad as #107 Western Michigan, yet no Utah QB in history has ever come close to

    18-for-18, 317 yards, 4 TDs, 0 Int, for a QB rating of 312

    by comparison

Huntley vs #110 Weber St was

    25-for-40, 279 yards, 4 TDs, 1 Int

Yes we would. But we’d also have to take into account as what team he actually did it against. And if it was a team that was the 5th place MAC, and 90th in the country. I probably wouldn’t be doing cartwheels like you guys. But cougs are the experts at airport celebrations, and never taking into how “tough” the team/s they beat. (1984 is a prime example )

We've all seen this movie before. Remember all the praise Heaps and Mangum got? How’d that turn out? With as much as Wilson likes to run. Hope you guys have a good backup next season.

BYU football is so bad that thier fanbase has to turn to "gaslighting" for moral victories over Utah.

I am more excited about what excuses they will come up with next season then actually beating them.

I hope our new AD replaces BYU series with and a Utah State series instead.

Chill just a little, Ute fans.
It is quite amusing the angst from the hill when BYU fans revel just a little bit over a very positive finish to the football season. As per usual, the only ones bringing up Heisman and N.C. are the Ute fans, and comments from Ute fans out number comments from BYU fans on this BYU article 3:1.
You’re in a P5 conference, making lots of money, had a good year in football with a bright future, 8 in a row...., I can’t for the life of me understand why all the insecurity? Why does it bother you so much that BYU fans feel a little more optimistic after a miserable 2017. No one is talking delusions of grandeur except you guys.

If BYU continues to improve, I have them at 7-5, maybe 8-4 and they will go to another small-ish bowl, this time against a third or fourth place team from a P-5 other than the SEC or Big10.

If Utah continues to maintain (I don't foresee a large improvement or drop for a few years) I have them at 7-4, maybe 8-3. I think they will miss the Rose Bowl and play in another large-ish bowl against a third place team from a P-5 other than the SEC or a fourth place team from the SEC.

    Ute-(phil)o(s)logy

I completely understand your fascination with BYU sports and disparity of teams like Tennessee and History of Bowl games. Like, for example, since BYU played it’s first Bowl game they have played 39 Bowl games and missed only 9 years.

Since the u played their first bowl game they have missed 7 years but, oh my is this a correct number?? Yep, u has only played in 20. So of course the u fans have a fascination with a team that has played in almost 100% more Bowl games.

Of course, a u fan would speak down of the Mighty Cougars since after playing College football for 112 years they had only played in 20 Bowl games. The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl was BYU’s 36th Bowl game over just 98 years of playing College Football. (Helps to understand u math when (mis)calculating the all time BYU/u football record.

Look, if I was a u fan I would be steaming with jealousy too over watching my big brother to the south play in double the bowl games I got to; Had a National Championship while I had none; Had a Heisman, I had none; Had 3 seasons to my 2 in the top 9 and 24 Top 25 Rankings to my 8 at the end of the season.

Utah’s 2nd half scoring had NOTHING to with Utah “waking up”,

but EVERYTHING to do with Corbin and Isaiah Kaufusi being forced from the game because of injuries.

@water rocket - I wanted to be sure of the facts so I looked at the game replay. You are absolutely incorrect that BYU was running the ball to take time off the clock in the second half against Utah. In only one possession did the run only a 5 yard gain, a 4 yard gain and stopped on 3rd and 1. Other possessions included an interception returned for a TD, a sack on 3rd down, another sack on third down and a 4th down incompletion. BYU actuallycalled MORE pass plays in the second half, some turned into Wilson runs and others into sacks.

Most Y fans accept that Utah outplayed BYU in the second half while others make excuses.

The last game of the regular season had BYU up by 20 points, and getting destroyed in the second half. The bowl game had BYU behind at the half, and completely destroying WMU in the second half. The difference? In the last game of the season BYU tried to run out the clock by running the ball. In the bowl game against WMU, BYU picked up huge chuncks of yardage using passing plays.

    ------

    BYU Pass Attempts (Rush Attempts)
    1st half: 16 (25)
    2nd half: 13 (22)

Clearly it had nothing to do with pass/run calls.

    Wilson:
    1st half 139 YDS 2 TDS 0 INT
    2nd half: 65 YDS 0 TDS 1 INT (pick 6)

Nope, the difference was #17 Utah has a much better defense (#15) than #107 Western Michigan.

Uteology: Just as a matter of fact, Cougar's road record was exactly the same as their home record this year, 3-3. And two of those road wins were against P5 schools. So, suggesting the toss up road games are probable losses -- at least based on this year's record -- seems a stretch.

    -------

I didn't say they were probable loses, which is why I have BYU at 7 wins.

I said I see them as potential loses, thus putting BYU at 3 to 5 wins, 5 more likely. In particular, at Tennessee and Toledo could be losses dropping you to 5 wins.

BYU usually beats 1-2 P5 teams. I am thinking 1-3 vs P5, Washington with a new QB or at Tennessee.

IMO 7-5 is still an improvement, 5-7 would be a step backwards.

Just to add, BYU has shown they can beat teams ranked below #100 and they did upset #32 WI and #64 AZ on the road.

    So IMO the 7 wins:

    #155 Idaho State
    #141 Liberty
    at #139 UMass
    at #102 South Florida (tossup)
    at #94 SDSU (tossup)
    at #75 Toledo (tossup)

Then they lost to UDub in the CCG, so they should lose their bowl game and have a poor 2019 because they’ll have ended the 2018 season with multiple loses.

I don’t think so. The City College should crush NU and have a good 2019 season. The Pac South will have another down year, the City College takes the division title, lose the CCG and returns to the Holiday Bowl.

BYU played a lot of freshmen that looked good this year. Back a few years ago, Colorado went a similar route and won the PAC 12 South as those kids got to be upper class men.
