Buried on the back page of the D-News - Unfortunate. In the long line of great coaches to pass through the state Abegglen was one of the great ones. People forget he coached DII Anchorage Alaska over Michigan - that was his biggest upset ever.

Saw him at the Big Sky Tournament in Reno three years ago and got to thank him for all he did for the University and for the memories. RIP Coach you made all Weber Alumni proud.

Dec. 20, 2018 6:49 p.m. sad to hear about the loss of the great Ron Abegglen! Ron was an awesome person and a stunningly GREAT coach! His competitiveness and will to win was infectious, as evidence by his incredible record of winning at every level he coached and, his record of overcoming all odds to win games no one (except him and his teams!!) believed they could! Allen Iverson & the Georgetown Bulldogs will remember (and SHOULD ADMIT) how fortunate they were to escape with a victory in the 2nd Round of the 1995 NCAA Tournament...Ron had "an answer" for "the Answer"...what a run!! I loved Ron, he inspired me to be better as I know he did for every other young man who he coached...I can't believe he's gone. He was first and foremost a GREAT TEACHER!! He will be missed and remembered forever! God bless, Trent, Kirk, Chris and the rest of his family at what I know is a difficult time!
