    @whoamisir?
It also is an indicator that to many Utah fans the in-state game is secondary to conference games. Perhaps basketball is somewhat like football where the cougars openly stated the Utah game was their bowl game. Utah players? Not so much!

    ---------------
You're trying a little too hard there to appear indifferent.

Both BYU and Utah are in conferences in bball which have auto invites if you win the conference tourney. So the importance of conference vs non-conference is the same for both teams.

Also playing a strong OOC schedule helps boost chances of getting an at-large berth and since more teams make the NCAA tourney as an at-large team than as conference champs, it makes playing, competing and beating good OOC teams equally important.

With that being the case we should seriously reconsider scheduling all of these games with Utah if they're going to continually suck at bball. Beating them up doesn't help our SOS and may even hurt or RPI come tourney time.

Playing the utes is a no win situation for the Cougs anymore just like most years .... If you win who cares and if you lose to them it is a bad loss ! I would love to see Holmoe and the Cougs move on and upgrade their schedule !

You hit the nail right on the head...unfortunately, beating the Utes is not going to enhance the Cougars resume. The Utes are pathetic this year.

This Ute team is their worst in years. Coach K needs to leave, or at least give back half his salary to us taxpayers.

“the Zags are the class of the WCC year in and year out...”

Year in and year out, the Zags have been better than any PAC 12 team since BYU joined the WCC.

What UTE faithful witnessed was a very young team...young with a lot of freshman and sophomores and young in playing together experience.

Coach K has recruited well...at least if the prep rating services are to be believed...but that doesn't make for team chemistry. This team is a work in progress...someone noted that it is as bad as the 2012 team...which is not true...at least in terms of talent. Patience is needed, trust that the coaches can coach the talent on this team "up."

To those who think the WCC is better top to bottom than the PAC12, you are welcome to your fantasy...the Zags are the class of the WCC year in and year out...without them the WCC would be the MAC.

WCC looks a lot better this year, top to bottom, than they have since BYU joined. San Fran, LMU and San Diego have some good wins and solid records (including beating up on some PAC and MWC teams). St Mary's is starting to put it together after losing some top talent from last year. Looks like it will be back to a 3 (could it be 4?) team dance invite.

I'd like to have a do over against Weber and Illinois St. But that's how the ball bounces. Nevada and Houston are top 20 teams in my opinion, not bad losses.

Unfortunately, the win against U will not be a resume builder. Looks like it's going to be a tough year for the Utes. I think U'll struggle to finish at .500. MS St is the last chance for a non-conference resume builder for the Cougs.

Emery looked a lot better against USU than the Utes. Hoping we'll see him become the spark off the bench.

"Perhaps basketball is somewhat like football where the cougars openly stated the Utah game was their bowl game. Utah players? Not so much!"

So BYU beat Utah because the players weren't interested in playing BYU?

That would be even more pathetic than the reality. What a ridiculous thing to say.

The only reason Utah isn't excited to play BYU is that BYU mopped the floor with them and has a pretty dominant record against Utah in recent history.

Not here to gloat - but for heaven sakes don't paint your team as apathetic - that's worse than being beat.

Haha...I'm sure there are quite a few delusional ute fans who had unrealistic expectations of your team.

As for the rest of the country we all expected you guys to struggle. Weren't you picked to finish near the bottom of the Pac12 this year?

8th, same as last year. Last year, Utah finished 4th and NIT runner up.

Utah hasn't been this bad since 2012 season. No inside game, shooting, or defense.

I watched part of the game - in moments when I wasn't watching army vs navy. Incredible stats for Childs. Maybe he does have a shot at the pros.

"“The atmosphere was great. I respect Utah but I think our student section was a lot better," Childs said. "It felt a lot more like a home game than an away game. It was a neutral game but a little more on our side.” Could be due to several factors: 1) it's a lot easier to cheer for your team when they are winning by a margin like that. 2) don't have any idea the number of fans who attended the game. 3) It also is an indicator that to many Utah fans the in-state game is secondary to conference games. Perhaps basketball is somewhat like football where the cougars openly stated the Utah game was their bowl game. Utah players? Not so much!

I did not see this game. I did check out the story here and also the stats. I guess we can see why the Utes were picked to finish 8th in the Pac in the official media poll. Not gloating about that by any means.....my Wildcats were picked to finish 6th - not much better.

I'm still not sure what to make of this year's edition of the Cougs....they looked sharp, focused and on their game in this and their previous outing with the Aggies. But losses to Weber, Ill. St and Houston were not impressive. Still wondering if they'll be up and down as the football team was - or if they'll find a rhythm, win their WCC games and avoid those embarrassing losses to the Pacifics, Portlands and Pepperdines of the league.

I think Utah might have jumped the gun on that big contract for Kry. When your basketball coach is making nearly as much as your football coach either you're a bball school like Kentucky or Louisville, or that coach better make U a perennial power on the court. Utah's not a basketball school and they aren't a perennial power...Kry's days may be numbered.

Yo made them look flat footed and slow. This about the worst defense I have ever seen.

What is hilarious in this rivalry ....... Capital One has an award called the governors cup and measures the complete weighted average of all the accomplishments of each university in their sports programs. BYU comes in at #32, Utah at #82 and USU at around #104. P5 means nothing except for football and is trending strong for Utah, but the rest of the sprots programs is clearly superior by BYU!

BYU knocks out the City College, again. USU is the best in Football and the Y is the best in basketball this year for the state of Utah. A tip of the hat to Weber State for taking down the Cougs in Ogden. Too bad the City College will not schedule a game in Ogden or Orem. They play 30 games, but only play 11 road games and one of the road games is in SLC.

I believe games against USU, Weber, UVU and SUU would be better than the current OOC schedule. Come on utes, schedule home-and-home b-ball games with our sister universities. If BYU can do it, why not you?

Good thing the Pac12 has been in a slow, gradual decline since you guys joined. You should be able to sneak a few wins over some of the many below average teams in your league.

Maybe in a few years you'll improve, if Larry doesn't drive all of these guys off first.

That dunk was an iconic moment much like Jimmer's half court jumper to beat the halftime buzzer in the 104-79 blowout win vs the utes a few years back.

I didn't expect Utah to be this bad this year.

Poor shooting and poor defense has plagued us all year, 4 beat downs by mostly average teams.

I haven't seen any improvement since the Minnesota game and it's going to be ugly at Kentucky. Utah then should finish at the bottom in a weak conference. Mostly likely a CBI bound team.

It's been 3 seasons since our last NCAA berth. I would argue Coach Kry deserves to be on the hot seat.
