One of the last times I was in Utah and attending Temple Square, I was advised by the Utahn I was with to ignore the aggressive pan handlers at the gates and that the Sister Missionaries give them business cards/or directions to the local homeless aid agencies. (and that if I want to contribute for their welfare, I should do so thru those agencies)

The children with us were frightened and disturbed by all the pan handlers-- and in talking about a return to Temple Square in a few days to see the Christmas lights, none of them want to go because they are afraid to be accosted again.

Can these people not be removed by law enforcement to these aid agencies??

It may seem they should have their freedom and rights to be aggressively badgering others for money.

But I say we--and especially young children---should be free too...

And have the right to not be bothered, upset and accosted this way.

BTW - PLEASE don't give to panhandlers. It only encourages more of the same and they now are risking their safety dashing into traffic for the "donations".

If you want to feel good - give to one of the charities listed, but never to panhandlers!
