He was awesome. No womanizing. No hate. No outrageous tweets.

George Bush came from a time when those born to wealth and privilege did not consider it an entitlement, but a responsibility: to give back to this country that had been so good to them. And so he became a "teen-aged fighter pilot" in World War II, just the beginning of a long life marked by dedication to service and devotion to country.
When his beloved Barbara died in April, he urged Americans not to shed tears for the Bush family. Sorry, Mr President: we can't honor this request today.

Gorge HW Bush never bragged, boasted, lied, or verbally assaulted anyone. He was a true and genuine gentleman.

Even though I didn't agree with him I always respected him.

No matter what your political view, GHW Bush was a diplomat, a statesman and an honorable man.

How Republicans went from this man to the one now in the WH is mind boggling.

    RIP Mr. President.

Last Republican I voted for..twice, and IMO the last Republican worthy of being President.

Smart, Compassionate, Willing to do what was right despite the cost.

Bush Sr. was a leader in the Republican Party back when I was a Republican. Those were better days.

Today, I wouldn't pay a plug nickel for what the Republican Party has become!

    RIP, GHWBush.

The tributes continue to come in honoring a man who represented the sense of honor, integrity and commitment to service we need in our leaders. The respectful statement from the White House was an unusual departure from the usual tone we have come to expect. It was well-written and displayed a certain level of empathy on behalf of the American people that we can all appreciate. I wonder who was responsible for initiating and writing it? It was good and suggestive of the work Peggy Noonan and the wonderful prose she composed and provided when writing for Ronald Reagan.

The passing of George H.W. Bush is a reminder of an era made strong and protected by the Greatest Generation where self-sacrifice and a national sense of honor were commonplace. This generation went through one of the darkest periods of American history and then rose up to battle the threats of German and Japanese nationalism to our very survival. He saw the place and the purpose of the United States in the world that has been our strength for the 70 years.

An important legacy in the life of George H.W. Bush is the important role we play in maintaining international order and building relationships.

One of our political and war heroes as well as a good family man. Miss the civility and the graciousness he and Barbara brought to the White House, and in representing our country both abroad and at home. We need this again. I'm sure he is happy to be back with Barbara. They had a special kind of marriage and a strong commitment to family. Hard for his kids and grandkids to have lost both parents and grandparents so close together.

I issue my strongest possible condemnation to the physical ailments that took the life of this good man. He will be missed.

Everyone in government amassing great wealth take note; Death comes to us all. And, you don't take anything with you but a record of your works in mortality. President Bush gets to meet President Kennedy, I suspect this meeting will be better than the last.

Thankfully, everything comes out in the wash.

He was an American hero. A decent man with impeccable manners and an iron will he was honest, trustworthy, and brave. A good and loving husband and father he was a great family man. He lived a life of purpose and left a legacy of love for his family and his nation. He was a man of integrity and intellect who set a great example for all of us. Rest in peace. Semper Fi...

George H.W. was just about the last of our presidents who was worthy of respect and admiration by everyone. I really miss people like him. They are becoming more and more scarce with every passing year.
