6200 South /Bangerter has to be the biggest nightmare in existence. It has always been bad but once they remodeled the intersection with the turn lanes on the left of northbound traffic and changed the right turn lane (westbound) to a red light 90% of the time traffic is backed up to 4700 south every day during rush hour.

With the huge accident this afternoon, traffic was backed up from 7000 South to 3500 south...the biggest problem is there is NO freeway on the west side of the Salt Lake Valley. Bangerter and Mt View corridor is nothing but intersections with red lights that you need to stop every 500 feet for, There is no good east/west road and north/south is a parking lot most days. How about we stop redoing intersections every couple of years and built a real freeway - you know, no stop lights to be found. But UDOT never has been a model of common sense in building highways in this state.

Just out of frame on the left in the picture is a neighborhood that UDOT ravaged to make their swell new interchange. I notice that they don't mention that in their press releases.

I appreciate the new interchanges, but why didn't they do it that way to begin with? It would have saved a lot of money, rather than having to buy homes that would never have been built. Permits were granted for new homes in recent years that will now have to be torn down, just as they did for the just completed interchanges. It just seems poorly planned when it could have been done right to begin with. The same is happening with Mountain View Corridor, but there aren't as many homes affected.

Celebrating? They build a poorly designed billions of dollars project, that caused more traffic issues than it solved, along with dangerous intersections that caused thousands of accidents, and they're celebrating a fix? Utah, where incompetence is rewarded.

Indeed my life is better with these interchanges. Thank you! I can't wait to drive past 12600 S without stopping!
