Ben McAdams will be another Democrat stumbling block in the way of progress towards important immigration policies to protect the economy of our country. His negative ads carried on even after he knew they were untrue accusations, a typical liberal strategy.

The fact that a liberal came here to gleefully express her joy that McAdams would be serving a term of six years in the House of Representatives should tell you plenty about how informed these type of voters can be. Oy vay.

    @Shamrock

The Tax Bill has done a whole lot more for my family and for myself and those I know than the ACA has ever done or ever will do. So I am quite glad that they passed the tax bill and yes I am a Millennial.

@ConservativeUtahisBest said: "When they voted for the ACA they didn't even know what was in it. They had to vote on it before they could get a chance to read what it was about. "

I don't know why people still believe this falsehood. The basic principles of the Affordable Care Act were debated at length, and the text of the ACA was released before the vote. Plenty of regular old people read it and debated it. If Republicans in Congress didn't read it--or more realistically have their staff members read and analyze it--that's on them, not the Democrats.

Also, do you think those same Republicans read every word of the 600-page tax bill they so gleefully passed last year?

Honestly, it's not over until Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox' office canvasses the election and certifies the official results about two and a half weeks from now, on November 26th.

In the meantime, while Utah County still has some votes to be counted, so does Salt Lake County (absentee ballots, provisional ballots, and some mail-in ballots that were postmarked on the 5th but not received in the SLCo Clerk's Office until today), so Mia supporters should probably hold their horses, as well.

When they voted for the ACA they didn't even know what was in it. They had to vote on it before they could get a chance to read what it was about.
If I had to vote on something that I had never read I would probably vote "no" as well. It was Pelosi that said they had to pass it in order to find out what was in it.

"Conservatives don't have any intention of doing away with coverage for pre-existing conditions."

Excuse me? Conservatives never voted for coverage for pre-existing conditions in the first place. All 178 Republicans voted against the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on March 21, 2010. Every single one. It was the ACA that mandated coverage for pre-existing conditions in the first place. Now you think conservatives are going to leave that in place when they've repeatedly tried to repeal the Act?

The first campaign promise that McAdams will break will be his vote for Nancy Pelosi... he knows that if you want to get any committee assignment, help with bill passage or anything, you need the Speakers support. Nancy has proven to be tough and see would render McAdams ineffective if he doesn’t support her just like she did Jim Mattheson.

Love this and hope it works out for Ben. Mia accomplished next to nothing in Washington, wouldn't meet with her constituents, and supported the vast majority of the Trump agenda.

CG it is not a lie to state that conservatives don't support pre-existing conditions. Their plan calls for the ability to charge 5x in premiums to those who do. That isn't protecting pre-existing conditions. It's a free market approach and you know as well as I that many who can't afford it will forego insurance on account of that change.

"Trump has loomed large in the race, because despite the state's reputation as one of the most Republican in the nation, the president's popularity lags in Utah..."

It doesn't matter if you're Republican from Utah or from the New York suburbs... particularly if you're a person of strong faith, any faith: his personal behavior throughout his entire life makes it very difficult to like or respect Donald Trump, even if your retirement accounts have done very nicely over the last two years.
Say this for Mitt Romney and Barack Obama: you might have quarreled with their policies, but you never questioned their character.

Ben will likely win. Upon arriving in Washington DC, he will be required to toe the line and support the Pelosi agenda. If he doesn't, he won't make it past the next primary in 18 months. If he does, he won't make it past the next general election in two years.

Ben is a one-an-done politician. There's no room for blue dog dems in his party anymore.

Mia Love really never has been an actual conservative so her (assumed)loss won't be much of a big deal.
    .
Republicans in Utah will very easily find a Congressional (conservative)candidate to replace her in 2 yrs.

Meanwhile we (may) have good ol' Ben, who will be exactly number 435 in terms of importance in the House of Representatives. House dem leaders probably won't even get around to assigning him an office til 2 wks before he leaves in 2 yrs!

Mia's problem was that she alienated both sides: Democrats dislike her simply for being Republican, and Republicans has little enthusiasm for her because she was often critical of and at odds with Trump (especially on immigration). In the end, some voted for her just to oppose the possibility of Democrat control, and many Repubs and independents voted for McAdams because he portrayed himself as an anti-Pelousi moderate. Now we will see if he really is moderate or just another minion of the Democrats' slide into socialism.

If she loses BanLiberals, it's absolute purists like you who handed the office to McAdams. Who despite his advertisements will vote for Pelosi and follow her lead just like every other democrat in Congress.

Love may be a bit moderate on a couple topics but she is a good Conservative on most issues. And it's looking like the absolute purists like Banliberals have handed the win to the Liberal they claim to most hate.

In a close race you have to support the nominee of your party unless you actually want to hand the election to the opposing party. This is why so many of us held our noses and voted for Trump once he won the Nomination. Turns our we made a good choice there, but the important thing is that we didn't hand our vote to the opposition by not casting it, or by wasting it on a third party with zero chance.

Fingers are crossed that the late voters at the polling locations and the last of the mail ballots can swing it for her. They are currently reporting only 14,000 votes tabulated for Utah County, considering she carried a margin of 20k votes in the county last time that number should be higher.
