“I hope Utah AD Mark Harlan tells Whittingham to walk.....Utah is in the big time now and KWhitt is not an intellect in any fashion whatsoever.”

Dear soul, you believe YOU are an “intellect”, superior to Coach KW, kind sir? HA!

OK, pal, who do you propose we replace him with, blessed sir? Be specific, providing a viable alternative, w/ALL things considered.....Be cautious, dear soul!

Otherwise, it’s just yet another in a long line of erroneous statements on your part, blessed soul!

    Cheers, MR!

    Goooooooo Utes!

    Realute,
The utes are not in the big time now.
The pac is drifting into p5 irrelevance and if they have another 1-7 bowl season this year they will be booted out of the so-called p5 altogether.
Being the 3rd best team in the state is not big time.

    -------

Who said BYU is 3rd? You currently sit 4th.

Good luck at UMass, your last chance at making the New Mexico bowl.

Let's hope the Utes has a good spare tire.

    Defense deserves an F.

Allowing 17 PPG, they were lit up for 38 at ASU.

Our defense had no pressure on the QB, couldn't tackle, couldn't stop the run or the passing game. It was the worst defensive performance of the season.

Looking forward to seeing how a Scully/Anderson lead defense responds against Oregon.

@worf - there are zero Utah fans calling for Kyle to be fired. RealUte is no mor a Utah fan than I would be a BYU fan if I posted as RealCoug.

It is interesting that several Y fans disappeared for a month but suddenly had something to say when Utah finally loses. The team got out played by a solid PAC 12 opponent. Just like I would wager that a rematch today between Arizona and BYU would have a very different outcome from what we saw early in the season.

Hawk- "What happened after the Covey muffed punt?"

There were two penalties. 5 yard procedure penalty on ASU and 15 yard personal foul on Utah. These penalties both were enforced, which yielded 10 yards for ASU and gave them enough for first down, and so they didn't need to punt again.

This games was similar to the first 4 games, in which Utah shot themselves in the foot with stupid penalties and dropped balls. It was a comedy of errors again, and like in the beginning of the year, the o-line played awful. The o-line played great in the first half, but couldn't run block and especially could not pass block. I watched our center let their nose guard just run right past him several times with no resistance. As this article points out our D was horrible. Chase and Cody both have been stellar this year, but they were not filling open gaps, they would instead run right behind a d tackle and bump into them. I was shocked, because they both are outstanding linebackers, but both played poorly.

Whittingham is an excellent coach, and sad to see some fair weather fans want his departure. He has built a very solid program, that is a perennial top 25 program. Go Utes, and make us proud!

What happened after the Covey muffed punt? I saw it was called back for illegal motion, but I walked away for one minute and ASU had the ball back. I was trying to follow the commentary -- was it an unsportsmanlike conduct call on covey for taunting?

    @ Worf,

Thanks for posting that. Donald Trump speaks volumes worldwide and he would be a perfect coach for BYU as you proudly stated! Thank you, kind sir.

JSKM1232 - “The Utes will win TWO more games in the season. “

Sure, just like they were a lock to beat ASU and hang a Rose Bowl Championship banner.

“I hope Utah AD Mark Harlan tells Whittingham to walk.”

That would be a huge mistake and result in the Utes crashing into a prolonged rebuilding mode similar to what happened to Utah’s basketball program when Majerus left.

    My prediction came true.

I said if Utah would lose. Some of their fans would want Whittingham fired.

I made a similar prediction for BYU.

Sorry folks! But you don't build stability by constantly changing your coaches.

One exception! Donald Trump would be a great coach. Make the Cougars or Utes great again!

With Obama, you can keep your coaches, game plans, and ticket prices will go down twenty five dollars.

The "D" grade is very fair. Kyle Whittingham needs to be a DC in the NFL. I'm tired of his "SIMPLE" song-n-dance. You are at a real school KWhitt! Intelligence matters, sir!

"It's good the utes have Wishnowsky or they wouldn't have the record they have. Everything went their way the first half of the season and they will be lucky to win another game. Oh well it was good while it lasted. And with basketball on the horizon it looks like it's going to be a long winter.. . ."

The Utes will win TWO more games in the season. The Utes will win their bowl game. The Utes will take BYU to the woodshed both in Football and Basketball. You're right it's going to be a long winter.

I hope Utah AD Mark Harlan tells Whittingham to walk. Utah has great coaches other than him. I'd like to see KWhitt as a DC in the NFL, where he belongs. Utah is in the big time now and KWhitt is not an intellect in any fashion whatsoever.

Andersen's kids are usually very sound fundamentally up front, but, as the video clip shows clearly on the Benjamin touchdown run, Pututau attacks the A gap (his gap), but then allows himself to be turned inside. Even bigger surprise and failure is how poorly an experienced backer like Barton fits the B gap allowing the tackle to get into him and turn him outside. Football 101 folks. Maybe they were just tired, but this is just a fundamental breakdown resulting in a two gap hole and easy touchdown.

Another clip here perfectly illustrates the folly of sitting in man cover on Harry with no help inside. Utes' corner doesn't even take inside leverage on Harry...might as well not bother and just concede the touchdown. This one is most likely on the coach.

Of course the wheels came off - it's November. Herm Edwards took Whittingham to the woodshed. Herm Edwards is the best coach in the Pac-12.
