“No, but Stanford being 0-4 vs Utah does. Including 5-7 Utah beating #5 Stanford.”

    - Utah has never beaten a Stanford team that finished #5.

    - Utah is only 2-1 versus Stanford and hasn’t beaten the Cardinal since 2014.

    - Stanford beat Utah on their home turf, less than a year ago, a MUCH more relevant stat than a game play 5 seasons ago.

After this week’s loss, Utah will be playing for bowl eligibility and desperately trying to stay above UCLA for the coveted PAC South basement award.

    “Try doing some research.”

Seriously, you’re telling other bloggers to do some research when you’re not even capable of getting the record of PAC 12 games played between Stanford and Utah correct?

Claiming that Utah was 4-0 versus Stanford,

when U LOST, at home, to Stanford, less than a year ago, in a game that you attended?

    LOL!

“At 16-10 in the 3rd 11:26, Utah was “close to taking the lead” on 1st and Goal at Stanford 2.

Utah offense chocked, just like yesterday.”

You had Troy Williams at QB and tried to play power ball against Stanford, so, in reality, you never even came close to taking the lead. In fact, you ended taking a 10-yard loss on 3rd and 1, and were forced to settle for another FG.

    Story of the game.

Stanford was in control even when you thought you had a chance.

And, now you think U have a chance at Stanford?

You’re only fooling yourself if you think that Utah’s wins from 5 to 40 years ago are more relevant than Stanford’s win at Utah last season.

    Here’s a clue.

There probably isn’t a single player on Stanford’s entire roster that played in Stanford’s last loss to Utah.

Stanford took the lead midway through the 2nd Q in 2017 and never trailed again, leading 13-10 at the half, and by double-digits from the 12:02 mark of the 4th Q, until Utah scored a last minute TD with 44 seconds left to make the final score seem closer than it was.

    Bottom line:

Stanford lead for most of the game and Utah never even came close to retaking the lead in the 2nd half.

    LOL

But BYU is only "6 points" better than Utah.

You are wrong again. Try doing some research.

I usually take issue with those fans that trash my team just because, or inflate the accomplishments of their team in comparison. I also get annoyed with those BYU fans that do the same.

Don't get me wrong, beating Utah is always sweet and losing always stings, but I take no joy in their program struggling. In fact it is the opposite. Beating Utah when they have a losing record and are last in the PAC South would be good, but not nearly as sweet as beating them while they have a winning record and knocking them out of the top 25 and to a lesser bowl.

I would think that Utah fans should feel the same way. Why do some of my fellow fans take joy in this? For the school and the vast majority of classy fans, I hope you smoke Stanford. They look beatable and were extremely lucky to get by Oregon.

If we have talent, then we must compete YEARLY for south titles. Otherwise why else do you play the game? If we dont, then a change has to be made. Whittingham has a very long history of sitting on leads and poor offense management. It's understandable why fans are upset.

I don't profess to know why they are losing games, unless it's just a matter of playing better teams. Lots of games remain on a difficult schedule, perhaps the most difficult one being a travel date to Colorado.

If I hear about all of the talent Utah has again I'm going to scream. As usual, Utah's defense deserved to win the game. As usual, Utah's offense let it slip away because of lack of discipline. So many mistakes when it counted. Time to start warming up a new quarterback won't you say. And still, with all of the second half lack of offense, Utah still had a chance to win. While I don't blame Huntley for everything, I do continue to blame Utah's offensive line to do their jobs and our pass catchers for not finding a way to get open. Washington State did the smart thing when they took away the run in the second half. They pressured Huntley because he wasn't going to get the protection, and he doesn't handle the pressure well. All the hype, next year just don't say anything and let the team speak for it's self. I'm not leaving the ship, I'll be there, but expectations where set way to high.

Never seen so many fans bail on their team so fast. Wish we could all go back and read the articles before the season started and their guarantee of winning the south and playing for the pac championship and a new year's day bowl.
My, my, how their tune had changes.

    -----

    Trumpian facts.

Most Utah fans predicted USC as the P12 South Champion with Utah at 9-3 as a potential NY6 bowl.

You know this true, so why make things up.

Ute Nation is not bailing on the team, we have ZERO confidence in Kyle Whittingham in fielding a mediocre P12 offense.

As far as beating your team, we're more than confident that we will win 8 straight.

Looks like both BYU and the Utes "shot themselves in the foot" this weekend.

BYU was overmatched but they could have made a better showing. Just too many penalties!

How many years will it take for Whitt or Scalley to comprehend that a 2 or 3 man rush just allows the opposing QB to take his time finding a receiver. This doesn't work and it is imbecilic to use it 98 percent of the time it is used. We have seen this defensive strategy fail repeatedly over the past years - why isn't this recognized by the folks responsible for using it?

Who would have guessed that BYU would have a winning record at this time in the season and the Utes wouldn't? Fire Whitt, saying it now.

I don’t know whether it’s Troy Taylor’s predictable play calling or Whitt’s misplaced devotion to Huntley, but they don’t mix. Huntley can’t execute this offense. Let him watch from the sideline until he can read the defense and check off receivers until he finds one open. He also reacts too slowly and is rarely on target with his passes. Also, if the line can’t make holes in the middle for Moss, we need more variety in the offense to give the defense more to think about than stacking the box. I can’t believe the offense is still the anemic same after all these years and coordinators. Still a lot of games left, but I’m getting really depressed.

    Co ute,
Funny comment, especially since BYU has more wins against pac teams than u have.
BYU lost to a good team on the road but we are not going to blame it on the officials or call for the heads of the coaches. We will leave it to the ute fans to do that.

Seems like none of the commenters watched the game. Three penalties were the difference. Avoiding any one of the three penalties and Utah wins.

Seriously, you’re blaming the officials and celebrating margin of defeat.

The unfortunate truth is, Utah was beaten straight up by a better team.

    ----

That's your fantasy because your team took a beating at Washington.

Utah choked in a winnable game because of self inflicted penalties.

We lost because our horrific offense couldn't move the ball in the 2md half. Nothing new, this is a reoccurring theme under KW.

It's time to move on at QB. Huntley is a great athlete but not a quality QB. He rarely connects with mid and long passes. He looks to run too much on zone reads and when some pressure develops. Also, it was stated several times that the Utah defense was good tonight. I disagree, a one-dimensional offense put up nearly 500 yards passing on a team that was supposed to have a good secondary.

    ------

    Yards are meaningless.

Utah's defense held an offense that scores 42 PPG to 28 at home.

They put Utah in a good position to win but the offense choked once again. Nothing new, KW chokes again. Lack of discipline on the penalties is on the coaches.

Huntley just isn't a good QB, he hasn't shown he can beat anyone with his arm.

Not getting a TD on Simpkins to Green hurt. Covey's punt return TD that was called back was a huge blow. Two long WSU TD completions eliminated an otherwise solid defensive effort. And of course the two fourth down conversions called back on 50/50 calls late was a killer. Covey's highlights were not to be.

Utah's offense makes most games a nail-biter. But unfortunately this is the better formula than trying to air it out. Run the ball and play defense. It is what it is with Whitt ball.

I have also given up on Whitt. Same story year after year. If our offense has a good outing, then defense will give up too much. Typical is our defense is good, but our offense can't score or keep the other teams O off the field. If things start clicking some, we have penalties and a bunch of idiot mistakes. So tough to be a Utah Fan. Whitt will not take this program to a PAC12 Championship and never sniff the CFP. The program recruits well, develops well, but misses something in execution, disipline, and being a complete program. I also despise "Playing to Not Lose". I've seen it enough.

In the last three minutes of the game with Utah trailing by 4 points, worst play calling on record by Utah. The way they used the clock you would have thought they were up by 7 and wanted to run it out.
