Investigators believe the foreign women would give birth at the facility before returning to their home country and applying for US citizenship. The return allows them to remain in good standing with authorities back home and, at the same time, claim to have a direct relative in need of care in the U.S. The underground “birth tourism” network stretching from the U.S. to China has sprung up in recent years to cater to growing #'s of Chinese women who travel stateside to give birth. There are women from other countries doing this as well.

Our laws need to be changed to stop "birth tourism" whether people are abusing visa programs or walking across the border to give birth to their babies so they are U.S. citizens. These babies should be citizens of the countries their parents are citizens of. They should revoke the citizenship of all these babies if they can prove they were abusing tourist visas.

What happened at this facility is terrible. It is one more reason our immigration laws need to be changed sooner than later.

There are a lot of disturbed people out there that need mental health treatment. We need to fund mental health and substance abuse treatment at the level we fund bombs.
