RSL is especially lucky that the VAR overturned the goal because in looking at
the replay about 10 times, it is very inconclusive because the video didn't
clearly show that Quintero was offisdes and the goal probably should not have
been overturned. I'm not a fan of VAR and last night's call is why.
The only way a call should be overturned is if there is clear proof and error
was made. The offside was not clear at all. Contrast that with last
night's goal by Zlatan Ibrahmiovich of LA Galaxy. He is celebrated for
getting his 500th goal but on the replay you can see his body is clearly past
the last defender when he was passed the ball and he should have been ruled
offside, but wasn't. Why VAR was used to disallow a very probably onside
goal and not used to disallow a very clear offside goal is why it should not be
used until it is more precise.
