@AZUTE OF course I was mocking you. I am sorry you did not pick up on that. Due to the Utes less than stellar performance in the PAC 12 I don't think anyone is envying the Utes. Maybe their membership in a P5 Conference, but not their performance. Based on the Utes performance against Norther Illinois, I think they may be headed for a 4-8 season. In your response please do not use the word palpable. You have used it in your last 2 responses, use a syllabus or something.

    @SeattleAggie
The utes aren't nearly the big fish you guys think you are. Hope we see you in the Vegas bowl this year (assuming you make a bowl). Will be hard to dodge "little brother" then.

    ------

    LOL

When did Aggie fans take over Cougar Nation talking points?

Good luck to the Aggies, will be cheering for you to win the MWC and beat BYU.

Azute- never in the history of football has there been a team attempt an onside kick without feeling like they needed it in order to win the game. I don’t blame you guys for ending the series. Again, you were an onside kick away from being 1-2 against “little brother”

    “AlwaysAnAggie”

What are you even talking about?

    Your comment made zero sense.

But your Ute-envy is palpable, nonetheless.

    Go Utes, usu’s/byu-p’s Daddy!

“So we're irrelevant, huh? Ok, but remember you guys are a fortunate on-side kick recovery away from being 1-2 in your last 3 versus the Ags.”

Actually, that wasn’t the defining play of that game @ all.....We outscored usu in every quarter but the 2nd &, following their 2nd half opening drive, we held usu to well under 100 yards the rest of the way.

In other words, straight dominated usu & rendered them impotent very early in the 2nd half.

Your revision of the facts doesn’t work w/me, period.

    Nice try.

    Go Utes!

@AZUTE-Your right, I really envy that 3rd place finish that the Utes usually place in the PAC10+2 South Division. This year the Utes may change it up and finish 4th. Right behind big brother USC, Arizona State, and new rival Colorado. But ahead of vaunted Arizona (what was that score again against the Y and Houston) and UCLA. Yep, I can hardly sleep at night I am so envious. When you add losses to Washington, Washington State, Stanford, and Oregon, everyone wants to be you. Congratulations on that overwhelming win at Northern Illinois.

Azute- ok, quick question- did Utah State discontinue the series, or what it the U that called it quits? If it was the U, tell us why they stopped (even though everyone knows the answer)? I mean, have to play some OOC games, right? So why not play the Ags?

So we're irrelevant, huh? Ok, but remember you guys are a fortunate on-side kick recovery away from being 1-2 in your last 3 versus the Ags.

The utes aren't nearly the big fish you guys think you are. Hope we see you in the Vegas bowl this year (assuming you make a bowl). Will be hard to dodge "little brother" then.

“AZUTE- what does the Utes record v the Ags over the last two decades have to do with anything? It’s a fact that the Utes quit playing the Ags and they quit because they were afraid of losing”

Because why in the world would we be even remotely afraid to play in a place we win virtually every single time?

You make zero sense & the fact is a MWC lightweight such as usu has unequivocally become utterly irrelevant to us, period.

Btw, we’ve played against usu twice since ‘12 & defeated them both times & would’ve regardless of venue, period.

    Go Utes!

p.s. What is it w/the obsession of both usu/byu-p fanbases in always wanting their Daddy on their respective schedules?

Does a guaranteed L against us really mean that much to you people?

I am continually amazed at how important the number of fans attending a game are to desnews, who cares how many show up? A win in front of 10,000 with 5 million on tv is less than a win in front of 100,000 with 100,000 watching on tv?

Give it up already, you sound like coogs from kittenville.

As an Aggie fan I will smile when the Aggies beat someone from the Mountain West. The Air Force game should be the real measuring stick of where the Aggies are. Michigan State may or may not be good this year. New Mexico State is probably in the Bottom Five teams this year. Not only do they not have any athletes, they cannot catch a break. Jordan Love was way off the other night and the Aggies still scored 60 points with special teams and defense. So being a realist, I am going to wait until the season gets a little farther along before I smile too much. Right now the Utes should be smiling the most, their in a P5 conference, they are still undefeated, and they are in the weakest P5 division in the nation. So they should be looking at playing for a conference championship. The Cougs are going to have to wait until they play McNeese State to see how bad the Cougs are. If they lose to a 3-0 McNeese State everybody but the Cougar fans will be smiling.

“I would like to see Utah drop the FCS teams from their schedule and play BYU and Utah State home-and-home every year.”

Your obsession w/all things U is duly noted.

No argument regarding FCS opponents, but playing against usu/byu-p does ZERO for us where it counts most, in recruiting.....A guaranteed W doesn’t suffice.

We already get the vast majority of the best in-state recruits who don’t choose to leave the state.

“Of course, that will never happen because the Utes are too gutless to play in Logan anymore.”

    Gutless?

    Bwhahahahaha

Over the last 2 decades, we’ve lost precisely ONCE in Logan, winning every other visit up there.

Our sole L came in OT on a controversial call against the only finish ranked usu team in the last zillion years.

Coach GA is back home now & his recruits have obviously long since dried-up in Logan.

Enjoy playing small-ball in the 1-trick MWC.

    Go Utes!

Who should be smiling the most?

Well, any mid-major/G5 should never be smiling unless they're undefeated. That rules out USU and BYU-P. And I don't think Utah should be smiling either.

So, in short, nobody should be smiling right now.

Props to the Aggies. They have showed well, better than expected and have the right to smile. Good luck. I'm smiling with them.

But...fact is...it's the Utes that continue to get respect on the national scene and I'm smiling at how the jealous biased local media can only troll them.

Ah yes. The smug, self assured smile of "Yeah, we got beat, but everybody said we were going to get killed and brutha? We didn't get killed. Yeah we lost, but you thought it was going to be a blowout, didn't you? But it wasn't. What was a blowout was what WE went out and did to one of the worst teams in the country. So yeah, we got a big ol' smile on."

I'd be more than willing to bet that the Aggies don't look at it this way. I know of a team whose fans DO do this, but the college isn't located in Logan---or SLC.

    @SeattleAggie - Maple Valley, WA

Worry about your conference first. And we will worry about ours.

There are soo many scenarios where that simple math just doesn't work. Like USU beats BYU by more than Utah does but loses more overall games than Utah, against a weaker schedule, etc, etc, etc.......

It looks like USU is a really good team this yr. I wish you the best in every game. And you are welcome to claim any "State Championship" you want.

I'd love USU to win the MWC. Go do it!!

“Gonna be a great year in Logan!

So Utah fans, since you guys won’t play us anymore, whoever beats byu-p by the most is state champ??”

usu is virtually always a guaranteed W for us, this year would be no different, & does ZERO for us by way of recruiting, which is what it’s all about these days.

The only reason you’re so confident is because you believe MSU is in fact good this year.....I predict they hover around .500 & easily finish the year unranked & most likely sub-.500.

Regarding byu-p, they’re pure garbage & point-differential is irrelevant, as the circumstances will be entirely contrary.

BOTH U/usu beat byu-p this year, period.

    Go Utes!

I would like to see Utah play Utah State and BYU on alternate years and discontinue playing any other schools in the state. Nothing against Weber State or Southern Utah, but old rivalries should be preserved. Utah then should play its remaining non-conference schedule against other P5 conference teams preferably on a home and home basis.

  • OldMain Saratoga Springs, UT
    Sept. 11, 2018 11:22 p.m.

The Utah State game will be HUGE for BYU. If they lose it, they likely aren't going to a bowl game this year. The season is still young, but the way things look right now, Utah State is going to win that game and it might not be close. I'm not sure the last time USU beat BYU two times in a row but I'm pretty sure it was in the 1960s.
