“Am I in over my head”?

Absolutely over your head. The bitterness is overwhelming. Particular topic was brought into the discussion due to another poster’s assumptions of liberals. Somehow support of President Obama equated to welfare/food stamps which is grossly inaccurate. Do you believe I care what anyone is “buying” or particular verbiage? Please. Regurgitate last semester’s ‘PhD’ lectures all you desire I’m not impressed. Aware some prefer intellectual shortcuts by dismissing factual information. These same individuals unfortunately prefer to spew forth unfounded rhetoric when faced with reality. (“Chuckle”) Furthermore. I can be just as ridiculous by claiming I’m not “buying” you have family/friends that are liberal.

    “What I do believe”.

Never did I claim that charity is a redistribution of wealth. Of course I take every tax break available regarding my charitable donations. If you believe the Supreme Leader doesn’t ‘take every tax break possible’ (if he only released his taxes like every presidential candidate has previously) this only continues to show a gross disconnect from reality. Lastly. I supported HRC throughout. You’re welcome comrade. Class dismissed!

"...if you don't do it, why should I?"

Good luck getting that answered. Ultra-liberals embrace prodigious philosophical exploits, without the mundane details of practical consequences.

I felt my point was implied, but thank you for clarifying (though you do realize that we're way over our heads here -chuckle).

"You are way over your head comrade. You have absolutely no clue (as usual) regarding my charitable donations which I’m willing to wager far exceeds your income..."

Am I in over my head? Nope. I'm not buying the "three degrees" and "Ivy league" pretense. I have close friends/relatives who actually do meet that description and your verbiage is nothing like their's. A few of them are liberals but articulate their ideas very well, and unlike you, they don't sound like bitter socialists but rather social elites (as you've inferred yourself to be). I could be wrong, and I'd own that if I am, but I'm probably not.

And why WOULD I have any clue regarding your charitable donations? I'm sure your "charitable donations" exceed everyone's income on these forums...

What I do believe is that for any charitable donation you make you take every tax break possible. Charity is not the redistribution of wealth that you and your "faction" espouse. The pragmatism of socialist utopia doesn't quite synchronize with the dream does it, comrade?

You have more than other people. Until you willingly give up all of your excess money and property so that you are just like the poor, maybe middle class, you can't legitimately tell us that we need to have our wealth redistributed. In other words, if you won't do it, why should I?

You’re fooling no one but yourself comrade. Interesting the sentiment above was completely absent throughout the Obama presidency. Furthermore. The Supreme Leader’s “agenda” you mention is absolutely horrific for America! See the latest regarding his trade wars and tariffs. Aware the screaming of “fake news” will commence. Regardless. Do you believe there is a correlation with Trump’s latest dire approval ratings of 36% and his “agenda” you mention? He has been an utter embarrassment and disaster since day #1. There wasn’t! Most certain you’re head scratching comrade. Care to explain how my investment accounts and property values were all beyond steady throughout Obama's presidency? The hatred towards President Trump is what is dividing the Nation. His is trying to save the US from becoming Socialist which is only a pre-curser to Communism. Unfortunately on both the left and the Right many want a One World Government which is spoken about in the book of Revelations.

However this One World Dictatorship has been portrait as a wonderful Utopia and as a result so many are willing to fight for it. They have been deceived into thinking that President Trump is this huge horrible obstacle to their Utopia that doesn't really exist and will never exist.

Does said poster have any evidence that russia influenced said poster to vote for trump?

If there is so much evidence that russia caused so many americans to vote for trump please prove it, mueller is desperate.

Since russia hacked the dnc, then why did the dnc refuse assistance from the fbi when the fbi warned them that their servers were under attack?

If John podesta and hillary had nothing to hide then the hacks would have had nothing to share with the public.

Trump didnt hijack the republican nomination like hillary did by financing the dnc effectively buying the nomination hijacking it away from berney.

Trump didnt violate the espionage act and lie to congress about her email scandal, and have a corrupt fbi director protect her from prosecution for which Comey was fired.

Mueller still hasnt presented evidence of trump russian collusion conspiracy, why?

If he has the evidence why would he be holding back?

Let's be clear. Impeachment does NOT equate with removal from office. Trump nears the mid-point of his term in office. The most optimistic timeline for impeachment proceedings to be completed would likely be another year or more. The procedure itself damages our nation, and because Trump still has supporters, divisiveness would continue.

There are those who feel Trump can win re-election in 2020. The ultimate answer for those who both don't want that, and are anxious for him top leave office, is in the voting booth. And not necesarily this fall. IMO, at this point anyway, it seems best to have the GOP in charge of both houses.

To "Fitness Freak" I have an idea. Rather than drawing straws and sending the person who draws the short one to run for office, how about they do some research and find out what the people want in a Congressman and run somebody that resembles that? Don't just run somebody that is what the Democrats want, but is somebody that the INDEPENDENT voters would like. You see, independents make up the largest voting block, and if you can get them you win the race.

It wouldn't happen because you would probably end up with somebody more conservative than the Republican candidate.

Referring to Mr. Red Smith's comment, as I recollect, Jesus was not a very popular figure in His day, either. But that was certainly NO reason to reject Him!

The great thing about Pres. Trump in my personal view, is that despite his seemingly contentious personality, he is the ONLY U.S. President since Ronald Reagan to fulfill all of his campaign promises. And that is what makes him a great President, in my estimation.

Our country is terribly divided today because of the Liberal Democrats who keep fighting Pres. Trump and all those who side with him on every point. THEY are the ones who should be replaced.....NOT Pres. Trump!

    2014 2.5%
    2015 2.9%
    2016 1.6% .

    2013: 2.302 million

    2014: 2.998 million

    2015: 2.713 million

    2016: 2.240 million

    2017 updated: 2.188 million

    Manufacturing jobs

Once manufacturing jobs hit rock bottom in February 2010, they increased by 916,000 by the time Obama left office. "the rate of increase has been fairly stable since around 2010, regardless of the president in office.

The fbi placed moles inside the trump campaign as early as april 2016. The fbi started investigating carter page a little known trump advisor who had previously been investigated by the fbi a few years prior, the fbi found nothing then, and used the fake Hillary dossier as an excuse to serveil carter page inside the trump campaign, again nothing found, carter page is a free man and is currently suing the fed govt for defimation.

Its common sense to come to the conclusion if carter page was the supposed target (really trump is the target) in the fisa warrant investigation and they found nothing then why is this cherade continuing.

The mueller indictments have only brought criminal charges for matters not related to russian collusion. Its very clear the dems are just looking for any criminal wrong doing to tie to the president to justify impeachment.

*The economy gained a net 11.6 million jobs.
*The unemployment rate dropped to below the historical norm.
*Average weekly earnings for all workers were up 4% after inflation. *The gain was 3.7% for just production and nonsupervisory employees.
*After-tax corporate profits also set records, as did stock prices.
    *The S&P 500 index rose 166%
*The number of people lacking health insurance dropped by 15 million. Premiums rose, but more slowly than before.
    *Home prices rose 20%
*Illegal immigration declined: The Border Patrol caught 35% fewer people trying to get into the U.S. from Mexico.
*Wind and solar power increased 369%
*Coal production declined 38% *Carbon emissions from burning fossil fuel dropped 11%
*Production of handguns rose 192%, to a record level.
*The murder rate dropped to the lowest on record in 2014, then rose and finished at about the same rate as when Obama took office.

"The article explains why United States has (had) such high corporate tax rates"

The article you cited also specifically references 'statutory' tax rates. Statutory rates are those rates which are codified, but not what is actually paid as an 'effective' tax rate.

Because of the many, many loopholes provided alongside our statutory tax rates, the effective tax rates paid by corporations in the US was on par with the global average.

The tax foundation site you referenced also has an article explaining effective tax rates, titled 'CBO Report Compares U.S. Corporate Tax to G20'

Your claim was that US corporations were 'highest taxed'. That claim is false. The US has the highest tax rates on statute, but that's not the rate corporations have ever paid in taxes.

Ok Pops here's a brief summary.

First of all Obama continued to work with The Troubled Asset Relief Program instituted by Bush (700 billion).

Secondly he worked with Bernanke to continue to inject money into the economy as the lender of last resort.

Remember this recession was entirely a demand recession..the complete opposite of the Regan recession, requiring the opposite solution.

Next he signed into law American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (over 800 billion)

Next he bailed out the auto industry with loans and bankruptcy terms.

Lastly he drastically reduced annual budget deficits.

"Obama's the only president EVER that did not have a single year with 3% GDP. In less than 2 years, Trump hit 4.1%. "

Twisted..Trump has not hit a 4.1% annual growth rate. The 4.1 is a quarterly rate, an accomplishment Obama hit many times.

Trumps annual rate for his first year 2.3%

This claim is made multiple times in this thread and is mind boggling.

His claim that Comey called the Steele Dossier salacious and unverified only paints a partial picture as he took a small portion of Comey's testimony and expanded it to mean the entire dossier when Comey was speaking only of one sub-section. His claim that Comey's leak was completely illegal has been disputed successfully by numerous legal analysts and confirmed as Comey has not been indicted.

Typically within 18 months of a recession its effects are gone, but under Obama we got 6 years of pain and poor economic growth. History, not a fictitious multiplier, shows that Obama's policies SLOWED the recovery.

They keep trying to invalidate and overturn the election by their antics and cannot accept that their platform and candidate were rejected by the majority of electors. This is nothing but sour grapes by Ms. Wilson, and a willingness to be swayed by Democrat talking points.

A Democrat running for Senator in the State of Utah is like a Republican running for Salt Lake Mayor. It’s valiant and courageous blah blah blah but Jenny Wilson has exactly the same probability of being our next US Senator as I do.
She can articulate her opinion on impeachment to our future Senator Mitt Romney. As many have stated on this board impeachment is a House issue and the Senate only gets involved if the House impeaches.

The Tax foundation has an article titled .. The U.S. Has the Highest Corporate Income Tax Rate in the OECD

I would provide the link but this website will not allow me to.

The article explains why United States has (had) such high corporate tax rates is because in the United States, tax rates include state AND federal taxes.

People should read "The Russia Hoax: The Illicit Scheme to Clear Hillary Clinton and Frame Donald Trump." The book is extremely detailed, chapter and verse on what happened via our intelligence agencies to undo the results of a legal election.

People should go to jail over what took place, and it's not Trump--nor does he deserve to be put out of office.

Under Trump, we have the lowest unemployment rate for black, Hispanic, and Asian citizens EVER recorded, womens' unemployment rate near a 50 year low. Black small business creation is up 400%. Hundred of thousands of manufacturing jobs have been created. Salaries are going up again after 9 years. The military is getting their first raise in 8 years.

Obama's the only president EVER that did not have a single year with 3% GDP. In less than 2 years, Trump hit 4.1%. When Trump said he'd bring back manufacturing jobs, Obama said they were long gone, we need to train for new service jobs. "What does Trump have," he said, "A magic wand?" No. Trump has economic know-how and can-do spirit.

ISIS is wiped out, Iran's in trouble, and N Korea no longer launching missiles willy nilly and threatening the world. Things are looking good, folks.

"lowered taxes on business, and people too"

He lowered taxes while increasing spending, spiking our deficit and eventually our debt. There's nothing 'great', 'economical' nor fiscally conservative about those actions.

President Trump is the greatest president for the economy in my lifetime, and perhaps in the history of our country.

He had gotten rid of thousands of burdensome regulations on business and lowered taxes on business, and people too. Before him the United States was the highest taxed nation for business in the developed world. Both of these facts made it difficult for our business to compete in the world.

Now our business has a level playing field and our economy is booming.

Has anyone read the Constitution lately? If I have my facts straight, Wilson is running for the Senate. If she is elected and if the House votes to impeach, she could move to convict if the evidence warrants it. If the House doesn't vote to impeach, there is nothing for the Senate to do.

"With 'legal grounds,' Jenny Wilson says she would move for Trump's impeachment"

Someone needs to tell her she is running for a seat in the Senate, not the House of Representatives.

The House is the part of Congress which investigates wrongdoing and approves Articles of Impeachment against members of the Executive Branch.

The Senate holds a trial based on those Articles of Impeachment and then votes to remove the offender from office.

A Senator can no more vote to impeach a president than a member of the House can vote to confirm a Supreme Court justice. It's quite revealing that Ms. Wilson does not understand this.

If by some miracle she wins this fall Senator Wilson will have nothing to do with passing Articles of Impeachment, no matter what President Trump allegedly did.

Yea. Let's impeach a man who created 4 million jobs,
Correct numbers : trump 1,074,000 jobs in 6 months :: Obama 1,084,000 jobs

    ended the war against Christians,
Fact :: The "war against Christians" doesn't exist in reality. Only among some conspiracy theorists.

brought Merry Christmas back to the White House,
Question : When did Christmas leave the White House?

moved the Us Embassy to Jerusalem
    And nearly started a war

    denuked North Korea,
That's not what American intelligence agencies tell us

    increased Black and Latino unemployment,
Unemployment rates for blacks, Latinos and all Americans began a steady decline in late 2009 that has continued since Trump took office. So much of this "success" belongs to Obama

increased other countries paying for Nato,
    Something like 5%

    got us better trade deals,
Remains to be seen if better or worse. Even GOP members fear the future

gave us 2 Conservative Supreme Court Judges.

Everything Wilson said is true, and if I were in Utah, I might very well vote for her simply because the GOP needs to be taught a severe lesson. I say this as the biggest Mitt Romney fan on the planet.

Trump has already committed many many offenses.
    -lies too numerous to mention.
-failure to release his taxes, thus hiding something apparently too terrible to admit to,
-destroying innocent families at the border,
-trying to collude with Russia at the Trump tower meeting, and then lying about it,
-admitting he is a sexual predator,
-putting our country and world at risk with his numerous and reckless antics with North Korea,
-discounting time and again his own IC about Russian interference in our elections,
-private mtg. with Putin where commitments were made that we still don't know about,
    -etc. etc. etc.

He is 100% unfit. He is a danger. He ought to be kicked out yesterday. If not impeachment, a primary challenge. As someone else said, Pence doesn't thrill me either. His almost worshipful attitude to Trump is very disturbing.

  • NoNamesAccepted St. George, UT
    Sept. 10, 2018 6:29 p.m.

Impeachment is much more a political process than a legal process. Anyone talking impeachment should admit that right up front.

Because of this, the ramifications for congress are going to be political. That anyone is seriously talking impeachment in the abject absence of any evidence of wrong doing by the President shows how desperate and out of touch today's media and democrats really are.

Two years ago, no less a figure than President Obama chastised then candidate Trump for refusing to accept the outcome of the election. For the past 2 years, Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) have refused to accept the outcome of the election.

When real evidence of Nixon's wrong doing were made public, it was Republican members of congress who pressured him to resign rather than face impeachment. If there is ever real evidence of Trump colluding with Russia to rig our election, or of any other serious crime on his part, the GOP will rush to impeach. That includes both the never-Trumper members of the GOP, and those who support his agenda.

In contrast, Democrats refused to support the impeachment of Clinton even with indisputable evidence of perjury under oath in court.
