I get tired of the wrangling about transportation. People act like they expect a size fits all solution. Just like energy, transportation is a portfolio solution. Not all services provided will be leveraged by everyone. Just like performing arts venues will not be used by all. Sports facilities will not be used by all. Public parking garages will not be used by all. Not even schools will be used by all. Nor senior centers.

So lets stop pretending buses, light rail, heavy rail, new freeways, etc must meet the needs of the majority to be justified or worth while. None of these, including the list above, are self funding. We all pay for things we don't use. They are all incremental elements to a bigger plan to move people from place to place. We need alternatives to buying a car and having parking spaces provided through out our community.

I am not a huge fan of the express bus idea, but it is part of a system. Maybe someday I'll use it and like it. But it does serve the needs of others out there.

Ugh Utah is so backwards. Public transit projects take DECADES of planning and people whine and moan the whole time.

Every person who rides a bike to school or takes a bus is one less car on the road. It's less pollution in the air. It's one fewer parking spot needed. For school commuting and work commuting, public transit is a great alternative. Utah County is a perfect location for public transit precisely because of all the students.

When will Utahn's figure out that these transportation projects are not designed to be a solution to anything? They are designed to siphon off tax dollars to well connected politicians and those that donate to them?
