"When President Trump tell us the way things are, the left ALWAYS claims its a lie"

As much as you'd like to think that criticism of Trump only comes from those on the left, you're wrong.

"the left is certain the Russians got President Trump elected"

I said nothing lies relating to Russians nor Trump's election. Your strawman is real.

"majority of Americans in 30 out of 50 states elected him"

And the majority of Americans in 1 out of 1 country did not.

But none of those claims has any relevance to Trumps lying on a daily basis. Not 'trump telling us the way things are', but Trump outright fabricating statements out of thin air.

If you haven't researched them by now, you never will. If they haven't changed your opinions of Trump by now, they never will. But those lies exist, are well documented, and continue on a daily basis.

Many of my generation were fresh out of college when Watergate happened. We watched Bob Woodward follow the truth systematically and courageously and the truth finally came out. Bob Woodward is a patriot and consummate journalist. Do I believe Woodward or Trump? A proven journalist with a great track record or Trump who can't open his mouth without lying, bullying or bragging about himself? Guess!

"Mueller has nothing to date to prove collusion."

You're watching too much Fox News. No one knows what Robert Mueller has in his basket. But we have the Trump Tower meeting between Russian representatives of Vladimir Putin offering negative information about Hillary Clinton and Trump campaign officials. Fox may dismiss that meeting as being about adopting children. Yet we also know that Donald Trump dictated a bogus excuse for the meeting which was exposed as an attempt to obstruct.

Why do people have to go over information that is readily available for dedicated Fox viewers? Do they have no other source or do they not want to know? It's a real quandary. We know that Donald Trump gets his news from 'Fox & Friends' and 'Hannity' re-runs. In fact, we learn his day is spent pretty much watching Fox and tweeting about what he has learned. With all the resources available, Trump gets most of his information from a propaganda network. Maybe because Fox only says good things about him and what he is doing.

Those who state with conviction that Mueller has nothing, perhaps they can enlighten us about what went on in Helsinki?

"You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to be president... you just have to win an election."

It sure helps to have the Russians working on your behalf, though. Donald Trump barely eked out an electoral win. Confidence in Hillary Clinton was diminished immensely by the leaked DNC emails. Although these were not the emails she maintained on her home server (those were never hacked), they did remind people of her not adhering to protocol.

As the Republican Party continues to implode, one wonders how they will win elections without help. Stiffing voters, attempts at disenfranchising voters, gerrymandering congressional districts, voter I.D. laws, changing locations for voting go a long way to decrease Democratic turnout and voting. But having a hostile state actually get in and tamper with voting records, changing registration information and perhaps altering voting results could be a major factor in elections to come.

We still don't know what is being done to combat future voting interference by foreign players. Like we don't know what was arranged at Helsinki, we do know that Russia will be very active again in November.

"It's my firm feeling that President Trump is a threat to the establishments course to bring down the United States and exchange true liberty, the Constitution, and rule of law for gross wickedness and tyranny."

Are you concerned more about a cabal of so-called elites in control of the levers of government trying to maintain their power and position, but don't recognize that Donald Trump wants to establish himself as the center of power (i.e. becoming his own "establishment") to exert authoritarian control over us all?

Is this giving up one "establishment" for another? It doesn't matter who is in charge, Republican, Democrat, corporate interests, the wealthy and influential, or Trump and his benefactors and supporters, they all become "establishment" when they have power. So which establishment do you want running the show?

Usually we find the tactic of taking a criticism and turning it against an opponent, making similar charges to divert attention, a central feature of Trump's strategy of winning his argument. If he is called naive and inept, he attacks his attackers by calling them "naive and inept". Very school yard.

"It's my firm feeling that President Trump is a threat to the establishments course to bring down the United States and exchange true liberty, the Constitution, and rule of law for gross wickedness and tyranny."

That's an interesting thought. What exactly is the establishment? Is it the wealthy and corporations? Are you talking about the Republican Party? I realize that people talk about the "Deep State", but that appears to be people who do not think like they do, so it must be about 65-70% of the American people.

Before we can understand what the establishment is going to do to democracy, we need to know what it is. Perhaps you can enlighten us. They we can determine how this establishment is taking away liberty, the Constitution and the rule of law. This is a major charge. We also know that you're not talking about Democrats and Independents because they're not in charge, but you may include them because they want to regain power in government.

Perhaps "the establishment" is "government" in general. Do you wish to do away with government? Or do you want Donald Trump to stay in power, have all power, forever and ever?

Silo: "Trump has several thousand documented lies since he took office." I have learned many times in life that a "lie" is usually the truth that someone else doesn't like! When President Trump tell us the way things are, the left ALWAYS claims its a lie! For example, the left is certain the Russians got President Trump elected! Nope, the majority of Americans in 30 out of 50 (60%) states elected him! Here are a few more truths you won't like about President Trump: Our economy is the envy of the world, wages are up, taxes are down, unemployment is at record lows, the DOW is still in record territory, we are getting many better trade deals, NATO members are paying their own way, Gorsuch sits on the SCOTUS and Kavanaugh soon will be and America is becoming greater, freer and more prosperous! This or some variant thereof is often said by a trump supporter: "I will not pay to read his or any other gossip rag". (Said of Woodward's book and presumably the Washington Post.) Apparently the irony of trump's support by the 'National Enquirer' is lost on this group.

IMHO, this incapsulates the dominate mentality of the trump supporter. Which is to say, please don't bother me with facts, I have already made up my mind. The corollary being, and I will make up obvious lies, conspiracy theories and innuendo to attempt to prove I am right.

When truth, justice and equal treatment before the law become a dominant ethic in the electorate, then American democracy dies. The trump administration is attempting all three with the loud support of trump apologists.

I hope that the American electorate sees this, and sends others to Congress and the Senate this year to put a check on the would-be autocrat sitting in the White House today.

"Instead, for money, Woodward is penning things he may have heard 2nd or 3rd or 4th hand as though they are facts."

Perhaps you should re-phrase your comment. If a person wants to speculate, at least say that it is their opinion. Saying how Bob Woodward got his information from one who was not there suggests the opinion comes a source that doesn't deal in fact-based reporting.

Obviously the writer doesn't know how journalists work. Often in interviews they record the interview and take notes just in case they are challenged. Also, they get other sources to corroborate their information because their editors will want it. Nothing is worse for a journalist to have their story proved non-factual. They lose their credibility and jobs that way.

One of the best ways to throw shade is to start speculating about all sorts of things without even the least bit of fact to support it. This is conspiracy run rampant, which the Trump administration seems to feed on. Next they make stuff up to prove their point. It doesn't matter what is true as it gets passed off as "alternate facts". In TrumpWorld, this called "TrumpTruth".

Donald Trump says a lot of things which he later says he didn't say. We have it on audio. We have it on video. One reason he likes to use the telephone and not email is that with a telephone call there is deniability. An email can be found and we can read what was expressed. However, with Trump he lives in this alternate universe where all he has to do is deny the obvious and his supporters will shift positions and argue that he never said what was said because he denies it.

This is a central aspect of political run-around: deny, deny, deny . . . until the proof comes out. We see it over and over, particularly with this White House. How did we get "fake news", "alternate facts" and "the truth isn't the truth"? For those who watch and listen to Fox News all day, of course Trump's denials prove that he is telling the truth. Often, negative stories don't make to 'Fox & Friends', 'Hannity', and the other Fox talking heads who are instructed to keep to the talking points.

Woodward is a venerated journalist. He is not lying.

"Deep Throat" - one of Woodward's most famous sources - publicly denied it for years before finally admitting who he was and the role he played in helping bring Nixon's crimes to light.

Woodward never gave him up, even though he had proof of who he was, and even though he heard Deep Throat denying his involvement over and over. Why?

    1. Woodward has integrity. He promised to keep his sources a secret so he did, and is doing so now.

    2. Nobody would ever act as a source for him again if he went public with their identity just to defend his own character. The truth will eventually come out.

So, Trump - a man that has lied to his wives, to his employees, to his creditors, to his lawyers, and to the American people - is trying to defame the character of Woodward, and calls him a liar? What a joke.

Trump complains that libel laws are not strict enough, and has threatened to sue Woodward...so should Obama sue Trump? Trump lied about Obama's birth certificate for years.
