    Vegas Ute

“The one team you are calling a cream puff has a higher Sagarin ranking than BYU!”

Not for long, unless they upset the overrated Utes.

"Isn't it strange how the same opponent for two different teams can be viewed as a creampuff on September 8th, then turn into a worthy opponent on October 27th.
    How does that happen?"

    ...or vice versa...

And 65's question was rhetorical, but I have no issue with their scheduling. We BYU fans point to the fact that all other conferences consider BYU a P5 equivalent. If that is true, Than Utah has scheduled at least one P5 or equivalent each year since 2010. They had home and home series with Pitt and Michigan as well as 6 games against BYU.

Going forward they have BYU each of the next 4 years and Baylor the next two.

"why is Utah traveling to play this game"...

Because it's not likely NIU will relocate to Utah by Saturday.

    @65VenusFlyTrap

"Why is Utah travelling to play this game?"

Probably because there's a member of the Illinois state legislature who is upset that Utah got invited into a P5 conference and NIU didn't, and he's demanding that Utah play NIU or else he'll take away the funding from Utah's hospital.

Utahute72, I live in MAC country (northeast Ohio), and I'll let you know, yes NIU is a creampuff. They're decent offensively, but their defense is...not good. They allowed an average of 20ppg last year, which doesn't sound too bad, but that's padded by allowing 11.75ppg to Kent State, Ball State, Bowling Green (who each won 2 games the entire year), and FCS Eastern Illinois. They allowed 27ppg to all other opponents (7-6 Boston College, 4-8 Nebraska, 7-6 Duke, 3rd place MWC SDSU, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, and Toledo). It would either be a monumental collapse of a game or an indication of trouble for Utah to have trouble with them.

Being at home, I expect NIU to score a little better than they did at Iowa last week, so I'm calling it about a 45-20 Utah win.

They beat Nebraska last year and have two players on the first team All-America Watch List. How many does BYU-P have?

NIU is anything but a cream puff. They have a pretty strong defense and Oline and a couple of good running backs. We'll get to see how good the Dline and linebackers really are at stopping the run. They also have a mobile QB and I doubt their staff is quite as dumb as Arizona's to take away the QBs major asset.

I don’t care who the opponent is, holding an opponent to 59 total yards is virtually unheard of.

And this occurred playing a vanilla D [we virtually always remain vanilla on both sides of the football in Ooc games] & against a veteran O-Line.

Wsu would beat a # of FBS opponents, including Ecu/Umass.

On to playing against a respectable Niu team @ their place next.

    Go Utes!

Utah was sloppy with -4 on TO.

We can beat D2 teams like Weber and BYU (2016) but we won't win any games in P12 play if we continue to give the ball away.

Look for Utah to go +2 TO and get an easy road win.
