On our way to buy lottery tickets and beer, there was a fire at the exit ramp
westbound coming off I-84. It was contained. A couple of miles up the road,
I-80, there was smoke alongside the road. The fire was not showing, just smoke.
It was about 20 feet wide.Coming back to SLC, traffic was backed up
about 10 miles because of gawkers. Traffic was 5-20 mph and the entire south
side of the hills had been burned and was 0% contained. After the fire spot,
traffic started moving at normal speeds again. Why do people have to gawk!
I woke up there was a strange look outside. I came to this website and found
that yet another fire is burning north of Vernal. It has to be man made because
no storms have come near Vernal for a while. During this summer fire season, I
wish everyone who camped, traveled to lakes and enjoyed the beautiful outdoors,
would think and make sure to use fire safety. That is one thing my kids learned
from their Dad. I can hardly wait for hunting season. Not really.
4:45am Phhhew! Just up to a house being filled with smoke from a
fire—drawn in by our swamp cooler. Shut it down and closed the windows.
(NE Orem, UT) After all the California Fires smoke, now our own Utah smoke.
It's been a really smoke-filled summer. (At one point, we couldn't see
towering Timpanogos from our home.)
I issue my strongest possible condemnation to each and every one of these
