I loved the series! I am looking forward to seeing how they gradually reveal more about Jack Ryan. It's ok with me that the focus started with the brothers. We get a "fresh start" in learning more about a character we have seen before. We may just have to be patient. There is GOOD TENSION in that type of development I find. I like that he is still a mystery in this series. Well done!

I started watching it and liked it so much, that I limited myself to the first third of part 1, then the second third 4 days later and will get the final third of part 1 this coming Saturday night. I do this with tv shows I like so they last longer.

I do agree on the nudity scene(s). I ignored it, I guess - when someone posted that it was, again, disappointing, I couldn't recall it.
Maybe I walked out at the moment for a glass of water. Deliberately, some times.

There is too much trash out there, thrust into our living rooms. Agreed.

I saw the 8 episodes in a watching blitz almost with my husband. We thought it was a good show. Scene flow was logical. There were a few open areas where maybe detail was required but I'm always that way when a story line is too short. I want it Longer !

Over all, I am looking forward to Season 2. I just read it was approved.

They aren't making Jack Ryan movies, and the author has been dead (4-5) years. I thought the feel of this story line followed the author's books. They did change Kathy's medical specialty; it was bothering me and my husband brought it up. That's ok. That was fine.

Entertaining series. Of course, if any adult content offends, or if you need "trigger warnings" (whatever those are), probably best to stick with the Disney pablum.

I have been disappointed in almost everything Amazon produces in movies. For some dumb reason, I expected those shows to be more like those the BBC puts on public TV. Not so. I won't be watching Amazon movies again.

I’m so tired of studios/directors feeling like they need to put garbage into everything.

I've watched the calendar, eager to watch the new Jack Ryan movie. Sorry to read this review.... I will probably try to watch it anyway, but I really dislike gratuitous sex & violence; also really hate a movie with a message - just tell me the story! I'll relate to it on my own. Boo! And I get weary of anti-American themes. Are world problems all our fault? Even if they are, I want entertainment and a clever story with believable actors, not propaganda! Thanks for the well-written, well thought out review!

As usual, the original books are better than the spin-off movies/TV series.

Pure, unmitigated trash that glorifies violence and promotes wanton sexuality. I urge the public to boycott it.

... his turn as Jack Ryan falls flat. He feels almost too wholesome to be believable as a hardened, troubled action hero.

I haven't watched the series yet, but but in the original Tom Clancy novels. Jack Ryan starts out as a successful stockbroker (with a back injury, later helped by surgery) and a history professor who is doing work for the CIA as a consulting analyst. He is anything but a 'hardened, troubled action hero.' Instead, he gets sucked into spy vs. spy stuff almost by accident (cf. Patriot Games).

Of course, that doesn't mean the series isn't weak in its writing. :-)

You show Jack Ryan as not having a rating, I've seen promos for it that clearly show a TV-MA rating. I'd hoped your review would include info as to what that means, why the MA rating. Is it for language or violence or sex or nudity?
