"there's literally no place that I am every day that I feel 100 percent safe and the thought doesn't go through my head that someone could come in with a gun."

Sorry to say, but welcome to the real world, young friend. There is nowhere in the world that you could feel 100% safe, except maybe in a maximum security prison.

It's sad to have to lean such a lesson at a young and tender age, but a realistic lesson to learn nevertheless.

This a really sad situation. I feel for the students and parents.

But that being, I was surprised at a national broadcast interview with the student body president, that returned from a national tour touting increased gun control.

Around her neck was a string dangling a silver replica of a semi-automatic pistol. I don't know the timing of the interview, but students are kicked out of school for chewing out the image of a gun with a pop tart. Wouldn't wearing such an image get her kicked out of school? ABC News, you didn't tell her to remove it while talking about gun violence?
