We can't afford to keep expanding Medicaid. Look at how much of the state and federal budget it eats up now. It is unsustainable. All the anti-poverty programs we have now including Medicaid are not working. Otherwise, we wouldn't continue to have so many people qualifying for and on Medicaid. There is no incentive to work when receiving Medicaid and many other social programs. We just make people more dependent on the gov't and less motivated to be as self-sufficient as they can be. Admin. costs for Medicaid & Medicare are ridiculous. All the for-profit health care we have is not helping people with affordable health care. Putting everyone on Medicaid is not the answer. At least Medicare people are paying into all the years they work.

If medical marijuana keeps one person from becoming addicted to opiates, the I feel it't worth it.

I can't help but wonder if the reticence to support the Medical Marijuana initiative is due to lack of information on its benefits or unwillingness to upset those opposed to the measure. The medical benefits are really very obvious, but those that oppose wield considerable power in this state.

Hopefully Utahns will be smart enough to shut down the harmful joke of "medical marijuana" or at least keep it from becoming the joke it's always been in California. Got a hang nail? Get a pot card from a "doctor". Got a pot card? Use it to get some pot and share it or sell it. Let's not forget that banks are not allowed to process the pot money generated by the dispensaries, so it's an all-cash operation with robberies a common occurrence. It's absolutely true that it's just the first step toward legalized recreational use. Take a serious look at the mess this has caused in the lemming states that have been driven over the cliff by their "progressive" leaders and voters (it's an easy Google search). Utah has always stood strong against the toxic aspects of a liberal agenda. Don't stop now!

Medical marijuana has almost always been the gateway for states that ultimately legalize for it recreational use. It is literally 'smoke & mirrors'!
