    This fruitway has fond memories to me. My Uncle Jay, his wife Joyce and then son Randy Matthews worked Jay's Fruit Stand for decades. The freeway did a number on these businesses I would think. God bless the Matthews and their legacy up there.

    This famous Fruit Way is an endangered Fruit Way. Developers reign in Perry and Willard right now. City and county officials struggle to come up with creative ways to incentivize farmers to not sell off their land. My heartfelt respect to the Pettingills and the Tagges and others who are sticking with the business. In Utah we are so adamant about property rights, yet time after time we let those rights erase what is best for the whole community. In other states, in other communities, city officials, planners, and landowners have found ways to preserve agricultural land, keeping it out of the salivating jaws of insatiable developers.
