Sounds like this guy has received a few slaps on the hand for previous felonies. This may be another catch and release because all things gun related in Utah are good things.

I'm waiting for the anti-gun folk to tell me that they need more gun control to keep this guy from having a gun. Irrespective of how many laws he already broke by having that gun. I'm pretty sure he didn't acquire it legally.

"Rufino has a substantial criminal background, including multiple felony convictions, restricting his ability to legally possess firearms,"

No! This is not the fault of the NRA!

But the result of corrupt political representatives who don't do enough to protect the people of America.

I guess it was an accident to that he had a gun when I am sure he knew he shouldn't have had one being a felon.

He should have never had a gun in the first place because he is legally prohibited from having one! Which exacerbates the issue even more!

Secondly, as is usual, in the case where known criminals carry illegally, innocent people were injured!

Lastly, lock him up and keep him there instead of letting him out! We need stricter laws for repeat offenders!!!

The judge and the lawyer(s) that got him out of jail should be charged.

Besides being a criminal, this man is lacking in good common sense. He needs to be tried, and hopefully convicted so he can be immured where he won't hurt others, or himself. I am just glad that the innocent shoppers do not have significant injuries.

    Convincing argument "one old man".
As good as most of the other guns kill people arguments I suppose.

Well, let’s see. He’s a felon walking around with a gun, obviously concealed. How many laws did he break all at once?

Go to jail, go directly to jail. Do not pass go. Do no collect $200.

Nonsense, it was a bad guy with a gun doing bad and illegal things.
Was it an accident that he broke the law and got a gun?
Was it an accident that he was carrying a concealed weapon without a permit?

""Rufino has a substantial criminal background, including multiple felony convictions, restricting his ability to legally possess firearms," the report states.
Vainuku said many of Cervantez's felony convictions are from out of state."

Felon in possession of a firearm can also be prosecuted by the feds and if guilty he can get a longer sentence in Club Fed which also gets paid for by the feds, not Utah taxpayers. Who will get this case moved to the U.S. Attorney's office and will they accept it?

Tell us more about his rap sheet.

There was a teacher in Utah who "accidentally" had her gun go off at school. There have been a few tragic incidents here in Utah where a gun was left out laying around the house and a kid accidentally shot his sibling.

Both instances the people involved got off with a slap on the wrist. If Rufino Cervantes says his gun accidentally went off then we have to believe him (investigation pending) based on gun accidents in the past here in Utah. With the amount of guns flooding the streets accidents will happen once in a while.

Pretty good trick to hit two people by accident. And I am sure running away helped.
