Stop Politicizing our Public lands.Stop naming buildings or anything else,
after worthless Politicians. If we must re-name 100+ miles of road
after anyone...How about Ronald Reagan...An actual Westerner ...NOT
a Manhattan-ite!Reagan won 49 States....Trump didn't even win
the popular vote.If we searched the World over, we (Utah)
couldn't find a more antithetical person to Utah's and Western
values!More dumbing down from the Utah Legislature.
This is a very, very bad idea, and I'm a conservative that applauded the
reduction of the monuments, but absolutely nothing good could come of this
idea. Please Utah State Legislature, just stop and think for a
minute. Would you want to see "Barak Obama Highway" as you drove through
Yosemite valley? Then why would you want to politicize one of our most scenic
byways in the state? Please do unto others as you would want them to
do unto you.
In a country where only 30-35 percent of the population support this president
or in a world where that support is much lower, it’s really hard to
believe that this state which is so dependent on tourism would somehow be stupid
enough to even consider naming a road in a national park or monument after
Donald Trump. I simply cannot believe republicans representing this state would
do something this dumb.
Edward Paul Abbey. He was an American author and essayist noted for his advocacy
of environmental issues, criticism of public land policies, and anarchist
political views. He loved Utah.
Ernest Yahze, he fought for this country, the road goes through native lands. He
meets the criteria as do all the Navajo Code Talkers. They should all be
recognized. They didn't get deferments and they didn't have to
volunteer to serve a country that continues to take from and marginalize his
people. They saw a cause, put the treatment they had been getting aside and
fought. There should be no question or doubt. They are
I recommend naming it after Ernest Yahze
What a horrible idea. This is an iconic Utah route; to name it after someone
with such weak morals and who is certainly no friend of our outdoors would be
ludicrous. There are literally thousands of more deserving people within eady
reach. Shame on Rep. Noel.
To name anything after this moral shell of a man would be a permanent stain on
our beautiful state... a badge of dishonor and disgrace. Might as well name it
Caligula Way. Way to go!
This is Mormon Morality on full display folks. Celebrate and honor a man who
openly brags about infidelity; who openly brags about sexual assault; who lies
and cheats as though it were second nature. Yes, this is what we want to let
the world know about Mormonism.
NO. How much is the Trump Organization paying Noel to propose this?
I sent a letter last night to Mike Noel expressing my dislike for his proposal.
I explained that it goes against not only the vast majority of citizens wishes
but it goes against the history of the area.I got a nasty response
from "Representative Noel". The press needs to further
examine his land holdings and his inability to disclose this information.
Trumps changing of the Monuments directly benefits Noel's properties as
reported in this paper. (And it would be good for more investigations into this
conflict of interest.) We need to make sure our supposed "public
servants" serve us instead of themselves. We need to continue as
citizens to voice any and all concerns weather they like it or not. This
arrogance on their part has to stop!
Oh, good grief.
Trump own supporters were too ashamed to put bumper stickers or yard signs up
with Trump name on it....What on earth makes anyone think the entire
state wants to start naming things after him?...But -- I did like
the idea some of the posters made about "Trump Dump", and roads leading
to Sewer plants....LOL
Crossfire5 - Salt Lake City, UTMarch 1, 2018 9:21 p.m." I
think that it would be an honor to put Trump's name on it!"And while you're at it, why not re-name some town like Alpine, Utah,
"Trumpville". Trump could build his presidential library there. It
would be a big boost to the local economy. Anyone driving to Mt. Timpanogos
could stop for gas and get some fast food for the trip. Just think of it, you
can go to a KFC or McDonalds and purchase the "Special Donald Trump
Combination" of all your favorites. However, Trump would probably
demand licensing agreements with all concerned including fast food franchises
and apparel stores. You could have a "gi-normous" golf course and
adjoining club where Trumpites could buy MAGA hats and "Lock Her Up"
T-shirts made in China.Think about it. All those disgraced White
House former employees could work at the new Trump resort. And, of course,
current employees could go to work there when Trump is finally gone since they
might not be able to find employment anywhere else once it's over. Where
would people like Stephen Miller go? Rob Porter could manage the who shebang.
Yes, it's a great idea. but wouldn't a town be better?
Harrison Bergeron - Holladay , UTMarch 1, 2018 11:06 p.m."Just the idea of it triggers liberals. Can you imagine if we actually did
it? "Holy Cow! That would be top tier funny!"Yes, it would. But then you have to live with it. Liberals would
also find it funny to name Interstate 5 as it runs through Utah, "Barack
Obama Memorial Highway", but it would lose it's humorous touch quickly
as Utah Republican legislators have a conniption of their own.Rather
than seek opportunities of chaos and disruption, perhaps these people need to
step back and re-think some of their more hair-brained ideas. There may be an
urgent need to protect Donald Trump by trying to memorializing him in some
matter in the more reactionary regions of the state, but it only engenders
further discord, even among good, patriotic, rational conservatives who yearn
for a return to normalcy.Whenever something as ludicrous as this
comes on the political scene, we have to ask ourselves what is all this noise
trying to hide? Is this a diversion of something else more sinister that certain
legislators are trying to push through the statehouse? It's a time-worn
Trump tactic we've seen over and over again.
Ever to be known as: "Scandal Highway".Most legislators give
it some time before honoring some building, ship, highway, or other entity after
someone. That's why we don't have an nuclear aircraft carrier named
the USS Richard Nixon. We have the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) and the USS George
H.W. Bush (CVN 77), also the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) and the USS Harry S.
Truman (CVN 75). But sailors would be aghast if there were to be a USS Donald
Trump. Like the current administration, no one would want to serve.OK. Leave it to a Utah legislator to honor a man accused of multiple sexual
scandals, unethical and questionable business practices, rude and intemperate
behavior, questionable Russian financial dealings, and other sordid activities
that Utah voters can hang their heads with travelers from out of state drive
that highway. One might as well add the Michael Flynn Federal
Building, the Paul Manafort Memorial Bridge, and several other sordid players
from the Trump White House. And you don't have to stop there. Why, you have
Trump allies Roger Ailes, Bill O'Reilly, and Harvey Weinstein just name a
few. (Oops, not Weinstein. He was a democrat, but a good buddy of Trump.)
How about Trump-Putin Collusion Boulevard?
And since I can't count on people to look things up...World's Approval of U.S. Leadership Drops to New Low (1/18/18)Gallup polling finds overall approval-disapproval in 2017 is 30-43 while in
2016 it was 48-28. Germany's approval went from 41 to 41, China's from

in Spain. He scored higher with the far-right nationalist parties in Europe, 39%
favorability among those who favor the National Front in France (vs 6% of
others), or 25% among those who favor the AfD in Germany (vs 8% of others).
@Riverton Cougar[However, calling him an "overall embarrassment",
especially after 8 years of a true embarrassment of a president, shows that it
is you who is blinded by partisanship.]You should probably look up
what virtually every other (Israel and Russia are the exceptions in polling)
country in the world thinks of Obama and Trump.
We didn't need or want a monument to Clinton or Obama and we surely
don't need or want one to Trump. Politicians, please keep your paws off our
public lands, highways and anything else you feel like appropriating for your
name sake or some political favor.
"Hillary only won about 500 counties (including 88 of the 100 most populous
counties) to Trump's 2,600. What does that mean?"It means
she took 66 million votes, compared to Trump's 63 million. It also means
that some very tricky math got Trump the electoral college win, but never forget
that can work against you, too. I"m not sure why you'd
hype up the number of smaller counties Trump won, or point out that Clinton took
the big cities. Is a citizen in an urban area not as important as one in a
smaller county? Is that what you're trying to tell us?
Brilliant!? Name a highway to our scenic national parks and monuments after a
man who wants to reduce them or open up areas inside them, for exploitation and

If we are naming a highway after Trump, the name “Highway to Hell”
Who is going to pay to keep replace the signage? I don't see it lasting. He
thinks people worship Trumps but the outdoor people don't so why would he
do this? Maybe he is still hoping to get a job. There are enough openings.
Hughes is still hoping too. You have to show you willing to do anything. He
wants to get acknowledged as a good ole boy. You know another embarrasment
I have a suggestion for these lawmakers who are Trump lovers: If you really are
obsessed with naming roads and other things "Trump", why don't you
start with naming your family pet and rooms in your house Trump? Our
neighbor's outhouse is already named "Don's John" as in
"Donald John" Trump.
"Trump does say some pretty embarrassing things, and I disagree with much of

historians rather than think that it just might be true." Just

terrible candidate."Hillary was a terrible candidate, agreed.
Thats why I did not vote for her. I usually vote R in presidential elections.
Would have voted for McCain, until he selected Palin. While you may have not agreed with Obama's policies, he was certainly not
an embarrassment. At least not by any reasonable standard.
I don't often comment on news articles... but when I do....Just
to be clear, it's not just liberals who are adamantly against this idea.
I'm from southern Utah and head down there frequently to visit family.
I'm conservative and think this is a terrible idea and don't want any
of those routes named after him. For every thing he's done that may align
with my sentiments he's done many other things childishly, irresponsibly,
immorally, dishonestly... etc. Hatch's unwarranted, effusive praise was
ridiculous and this even more so.
How about renaming the road that goes to the local landfill in Kane County the
Trump road. Then at the end of the road would be the Trump dump!
Anyone traveling the roads of Southern Utah knows there is open season year
round on the roadside signage. The Dolt 45 Highway would be a boon to
I think it would be worth it just to see the liberals have another

"Russia hacking!". We all know CA and NY and Chicago are loaded with
liberals. Hillary only won about 500 counties (including 88 of the 100 most

popular in liberal high-population areas, but not so much everywhere else.As for the Russian hacking..... I was going to vote for Hillary until
the Russians got to me. I'm sure that's the case for most of those
people in those 2,600 counties, too. Just keep telling yourself if it helps you

don’t agree with the way he governs Stop the foolishness
InMyOpinionAlso wrote 9:08 AM: "We need to exploit the hate."Trump exploits the deep divisions he has created in this country. So
technically you are correct.
"The president this week backed the confiscation of guns without due

through due process second"Remember all of the carping about
Obama wanting to take your guns? Can you even fathom the reaction if Obama had
said what Trump did?How about some consistency here people.
The more consideration I give this, the more fun I think it would be! Can you
imagine all of the liberals driving down the highway listening to their app say:
"Turn left on Donald J. Trump Utah National Parks Highway," and
"Continue on Donald J. Trump Utah National Parks Highway for 20 miles,"

sell therapy pets. Others could open safe spaces with non gmo cookies and soy
milk. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination!
One of Donald Trump's favorite derogatory terms is loser. So why should
Utah honor Trump with his own highway designation? Losers to wit: Trump Towers
in Miami, Toronto, Waikiki, Dubai, Panama, Atlanta, Soho, Bayrock and Trump
University, Steaks, Vodka , Airlines, Mortgage Casinos. Need more (50 at the
least). So please tell me why we should honor this loser with a highway
How about naming I-15 Donald Trump National Highway. This way all those that
hate him so bad will stay off of the freeway so I can get to work and home on
time. While you're at it name Zions National Park to Trump National Park
to reduce the number of visitors. We need to exploit the hate.
Hold up there, Mikie...It won't look like such a great idea when
trump and his entire clan is in the federal pen...
Ideally, such honors are best made posthumously, or at least after the end of
the term in office. The president this week backed the confiscation of guns
without due process. Is that the sort of thing that Rep. Noel wants to
recognize? Who knows what awaits the country before 2020.
Oh please do it! Yes! Utah is synonymous with Mormonism throughout America and
Mormons absolutely love Trump. It will make national news. Everyone in America
will see just how pro-Trump Utah is.
How about renaming Deseret News as Trump News? ...lol!!
Yeah - I think AC/DC wrote a song about that highway.
I'm all for it. We should honor President Trump for saving our lands from
those who would lock it up and prevent us from using it. I'm just waiting
for spring and that area will be covered with tracks from my ATVs. I am also
considering drilling for oil and maybe even starting a coal mine in the area. I
believe President Trump is the best president America has had in over a Century.
Please think twice... no! A billion times... before moving this forward. Please
give it some time before doing something that Utah may regret later. This would
be a good item to put on a ballot!! I do believe Utah's reputation is at
I'm sure that road will lead directly to Moscow. It will travel through
bankruptcy, by several red light districts, past cliffs where you can throw your
best friends off, and be considered the worst road in all of American history.
Sure why not but it only needs one lane and travel has to be in reverse.
What characteristics could such a road have? Lots of unnecessary direction
changes? Perhaps mostly downhill grades. Many unexpected exits, for sure. It
would be a rough, crude road. Lots of swamps nearby, caused by the damming
effect of the road. And, it leads to nowhere.
Two weeks after personal Trump's lawyer admitted he paid off a porn star
shortly before the election, Mike Noel wants to immortalize Trump by naming a
highway after him. I wonder what the men, women, and children of Kanab think of
Trump's philanderings.Facetiously in the past I've said
Republicans will soon be naming airports, post offices, and city park benches
after Trump because that seems to be the extent of their legislative
abilities.Mike Noel must read these forums.
Kind of like giving a president the Nobel Prize because you believe that in the
future he'll deliver on your wildest dreams and do something to merit it,
How far will Utah descend in it's homage to this President ? He has only
been in office 14 months. Doesn't his current track record suggest that
there is something dramatic and destructive yet to come ? Do I have to go back
into the Deseret News' archives and dig up articles highlighting this
President's abuse, his flip flopping, his denigration of the handicapped?
Need more examples ? President Trump a man who loves his generals, his
military, his army and his guns is not worthy for this honor. This is an honor
usually reserved for a person who has honotrably stepped up and served this
nation in our armed forces.
Only posthumously, if ever. As Trump is a licensed brand name it would be unfair
to Trump's business competitors for him to have free advertising.
"Just the idea of it triggers liberals. Can you imagine if we actually did
it? Holy Cow! That would be top tier funny!"No Harrison.
It would be top tier embarrassing.Look. I get it that Trump has
done a few things that make Republicans happy. Even a few things that make
conservatives happy. But, those that cant admit that Trump is an

Let's give it a year. See if he's still in office.
This is a brilliant idea! I wish I had thought of it!!Just think of
all the free publicity the state will receive from Colbert, Kimmel, Meyers and
Fallon! This is why we elect those "chosen few" brilliant
minds to lead our great state!
How about "Impeachment Road"?
Just two or three years ago, the city council of Salt Lake City gave us
"Harvey Milk" Boulevard with very little problem or fanfare. Given the
true history behind Harvey Milk, I would think that a President Donald Trump
Highway should be a slam dunk!
How about naming it, "Tweeting Highway." LOL!
Great idea... as long as the highway signs are written in chalk! As
for Crossfire 5's suggestion that since Pres Obama's name was used to
replace a racist name for a highway in a part of the country with many Blacks
and few roads or buildings named after any of them, Utah ought to go for the
Trump Highway idea:Somehow there are many reasons that an equivalency is
Just the idea of it triggers liberals. Can you imagine if we actually did it?
Holy Cow! That would be top tier funny!
Apparently our lawmakers have run out of important things to do!!!
Absolute insanity.But not a surprise.
Oh no! Definitely not! I'd say more, but want to remain civil.
The "Old Dixie Highway" that used to through the southern states is no
more! Two years ago, it was arbitrarily changed to the "President Barack
Obama Highway " largely out of concerns that the term "Dixie " might
offend current p.c. sensitivities. So be it... If Obama has been officially
recognized by his name on a major highway, why not our current President? I
think that it would be an honor to put Trump's name on it! Please do it!
How about MAGA highway. Making America Great Again! Hail to the
Chief! Thanks again President Trump.
I was born and raised in Kane County and voted against Hillary by helping Trump
get elected. I think the state will spend thousands of dollars trying to keep
"Trump Highway" signs up and suggest this silly idea dies before it gets
a breath of life.
Trump makes millions licensing his name; I doubt he'd let anyone use it for
I have A better idea! How about we name the highway after someone who has
actually done something!
I am sure those highway signs will survive the harsh criticism, I mean winters.
How about the "Donald J. Trump National Memorial Mining and Drilling
Capital idea! I love it.
Wow. And I never thought a Utah politician could beat Hatch's "Trump is
the best President I've ever served under". Mike Noel wins. I'm
all for a "Donald Trump Boulevard" as long as it leads to the new State
Other than saying that this one of the most STUPID ideas to come from one of
Utah's most stupid lawmakers, there's nothing else I can say that
would pass DN's censors. This is enough to gag a maggot.
