I respect anyone willing to stand for their own beliefs and break with their own party from time to time as issues come up. Anyone who agrees with their party 90+ percent has obviously abdicated their God given blessing of thinking.

Well spoken by Molly Hogan. Love is a political moderate with high ethical standards. No, she is not rude to the president and considers both sides of a proposition which seem to be her detractors main objections. She is also an inspiration to women and minorities who want to make their voice heard.

There is no question that w/o NRA support and others like them George Sosos would have free reign over all western politics. Only the government would have guns...and guess what they can't be everywhere.
And by the way, no government on the planet has the ability to take away guns from criminals. Therefore peaceloving folks w/o guns would be defenseless.
So if you are a lover of George Soros and the left, and if you support gun-free zones, we are in for trouble!

@ Nunn24, I'll take the so-called establishment Republicans over the Trump faction any day. The establishment Republicans actually care about country and are principled. The only allegiance Trump has is to himself and to Mother Russia. He and his supporters are literally destroying the country.

The fact is, there are two Republican parties: the one which heeds the Republican Party Platforms and the U.S. Constitution, and the "Establishment" Republican Party,
which in fact defies these standards by, among other things, its opposition to enforcement of U.S. immigration law (including deportation of illegal aliens) and by its support for Amnesty, which in fact undermines the rule of law by rewarding illegality. Mia Love is very much part of the latter group, along with (true enough) Curtis, McCain, and Flake. Hence her support for Amnesty for DACAs, and hence her consistent, anti-Trump posture -- which has included demanding that Candidate Trump step down, by voting for non-Republican Evan McMullin for President, and by multiple, anti-Trump public statements since then. After all, Trump is in favor of enforcement of immigration law, and of an "America First" immigration policy otherwise -- which does not sit well with "Establishment" Republicans.

Arguably, politicians that take an "Establishment Republican" position are not working in the best interests of the American people but usually are instead working for campaign donors and special-interest groups primarily.

All I know is that in the wake of the Parkland shooting, every chart I saw that listed the top recipients of NRA donations had Mia Love at #15 (of 535 members of congress or senators), with a grand total of more than $60,000. And I still haven't seen any action or statement that would show me that she's not beholden to that organization.

A few isolated statements don't demonstrate ethical or courageous leadership if not followed by actions. Mia has rubber-stamped every Trump and McConnell/Ryan initiative of any significance. I see nothing from her that suggests anything other than more of the same political corruption and games we have had to endure for a long time. I don't know who "Mormon Women for Ethical Government" is, but just because Mia is Mormon and a woman is not enough. She is the weakest member of the Utah delegation and has the least amount of impact.

Utah Girl Chronicles..."Mia Love is anything but a coward."

Really? Then why doesn't she hold "town hall meetings" in which people can ask questions. Instead she has 5 people, prescreened, call in with questions submitted before hand.

Cowards don't face their opposition, they hide from them. That's what Mia does.

In my mind I believe she lied about the difficulty in getting health insurance under Obamacare. That's a big deal when she wants to help the less fortunate and is doing the exact opposite.

She lost me when she voted on the recent tax reform bill before the CBO released their report on the impact to our national debt. The party urged all members to vote and to do it quickly because their donors would not support them in the future. She put her party before the interests of our country. And for that alone, she should be removed from office.

The "courage" that Mia showed by speaking out against Trump for calling Haiti and other countries "S-holes" is more likely a reaction because her native country is Haiti (yes, I knew she was born in the U.S. by parents that overstayed their visa.)

The performance by Mia has been a very shallow and uninformed position. She speaks and votes the way her handlers want her to.

Mia's ethical musings are murmured whispers from someone who is fearful of a higher platform. There's not a day when Mia cannot command control of a microphone in front of TV cameras and make her feelings known. She could make a big splash but instead, she's a pebble hitting a puddle at the bottom of a deep mine shaft.

I'm not in Mia Love's district, she's nowhere close to the policy positions I support...

...but there's no question she's the highest standing Utah politician on the "power of truth" scale.

While the rest of Utah's delegation shrivels, changes the subject, avoids the cameras altogether, or pretends it's a wonderful time, Representative Love has risen to the occasion.

The Founders did not envision we would be led by cowards.

Mia Love is anything but a coward.

When Utah Rep Love votes against the president and against the wishes of her party leaders, then I think we could legitimately portray her as an independent person representing the will of her constituents.

I have actually been impressed by Mia. I didn't vote for her, but I am glad she doesn't always just follow anyone with an R by their name. I wish all leaders would think about issues and vote for the right - not just how their party wants them to. I will support Mia even more if she doesn't just vote along party lines.

"For example, Love spoke out boldly against Trump's vulgar outburst in January regarding Haiti, El Salvador and several African countries:"

Yeah? But when she visited with Trump a few days later, she didn't whimper a word to Trump about Haiti or the others. She folded. Mia does whatever the Koch brothers and her out of state donors tell her to do.
