There is a tendency among a lot of hikers and children on their way to wear dark clothing at night or bland colors during the day that blend in with the back ground. When you go out to walk of jog you may do it thousands of times safely, but injuries and deaths occur.
My wife and I wear reflector jackets with a little red blinking light. Our dog has two of the lights. I also usually wear the reflector jacket during the day too on walks. They are inexpensive less than $10 and well worth it. At least wear bright clothing not black or dark clothing in the dark. Children should wear bright colored coats and hats. It is worth doing it.
It is sad to see a death like this, but it is hard for drivers to see people in the dark.
